That's the potentially scary part... O'Doyle Rules 05-03-2004, 09:39 PM Originally posted by Ghetto_Squirrel I'd love to see the backlash at the mere official suggestion of the draft. Like during vietnam or the civil war? the government will get what it wants one way or another. :( Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both. -Benjamin Franklin twice 05-04-2004, 12:49 AM Dan Amon, a spokesman for the Selective Service System, based in Arlington, Va., said that the Pentagon has taken no action on the proposal to expand draft registration. "These ideas were only being floated for Department of Defense consideration," Amon said. He described the proposal as "food for thought" for contingency planning. cute. his analogy is so fucking fitting. I_was_aborted 05-04-2004, 10:04 AM I don't plan on staying in America a whole lot longer so I'm not that worried about it. First sign of the draft getting put into action and my plans will get shifted into overdrive. (if you're registered with SS) (i'm not sure about the following but it seems logical) i don't think it will matter if you hold a greencard to X country either. until you are a formal citizen of that country you still can be drafted. O'Doyle Rules 05-04-2004, 10:49 AM College and Canada won't be an option because of the "Smart Border Declaration" signed back in 2001...hmmm. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article5146.htm The Omega Concern 05-04-2004, 10:55 AM "I don't know anyone in the executive branch of the government who believes that it would be appropriate or necessary to reinstitute the draft," Rumsfeld said last month. Bush Cabal? christian zombie vampires 05-04-2004, 11:23 AM this is why i'm not too worried: if this happens and there ISN'T a massive social uprising eventually resulting in positive change and stronger public awareness then at least we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing we deserve it. and if stephen harper wins in canada he'd side with bush (possibly not to this extent). in conclusion, there is no cabal. O'Doyle Rules 05-04-2004, 11:28 AM http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul155.html http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul-arch.html Congressmen Ron Paul (R-TX) M.D. has some great speeches and articles here. He is the only person I know of, in government, that doesn't view our constitution as an anachronism. I already have a passport good for the next 10 years. Also I'm not worried about greencards or citizenship. I would move to the netherlands and either live illegally or try and claim political asylum. It is not possible for the American government to send me to Iraq or any war on their behalf, it is just not a possibility.
