View Full Version : do most new bands sound alike to you?
homechicago 05-01-2004, 09:09 PM i like the stills, thrills, gomez, etc., but they are all interchangable to me.
thursday, kenna, yeah yeah yeahs, clinic - good tunes, but nothing earth shattering.
i want to hear something new that is AMAZING and that stands alone.
anyone know what i mean?
DeviousJ 05-01-2004, 10:10 PM I was going to agree about a bunch of emo bands around at the moment or whatever, but then I saw the bands you mentioned and got confused.
Very confused

Don't worry, by the time anything worthwhile comes around again, you'll be too old to belong to or appreciate it.
homechicago 05-13-2004, 12:47 PM i meant of this decade. there were clear standouts in the 90's but the 00's aren't showing me much.
I_was_aborted 05-13-2004, 12:52 PM Heh yeah I don't think the Stills sound like Gomez...
homechicago 05-13-2004, 01:03 PM but do you think one of these bands is a real stand out? are they changing the face of music? that's all i was trying to get at. i don't mean the literally sound the same, but they are all the same level of importance to a new music sound - small. sorry i didn't explain myself better.
ravenguy2000 05-13-2004, 01:18 PM Gomez has been around forever. so it seems.
ProgressChrome 05-13-2004, 02:03 PM theres a lot of bands that sound alike... but saying "most new bands" would pin together a lot of bands from a variety of genres that wouldn't sound alike.
Mood ring 05-13-2004, 02:04 PM i know exactly what you mean. I barely pay attention to the scene and on the occasion I do watch the MTV's or Fuse I see a bunch of immature 'artist' whose primary foundation is narcissism.
which, come to think of it...2/3 of my bandmates operate on that level too. lol.
:/

if you are 05-15-2004, 01:41 AM most new bands sound like each other cuz they're not very original and are just copying each other so they can be famous/rich/have groupies.

MstrGhost 05-15-2004, 05:47 AM Only "the" new bands sound all "the" same to me.
TiaraGurl 05-15-2004, 08:51 PM it seems to go in cycles I mean ten years ago a bunch of bands sounded the same too because labels rush out and sign bands that sound similar to bands that are popular ie why there are so many teen tpop people etc
