I like almost all the songs of MSOTS, but I don't listen it very often

i listen to mary star almost every day. it's a superb album. i even have a zwan shirt that has the album name on it. so i can promote it to other people.

I don't HAVE to do anything. But I do agree they didn't reach their potential, but I don't think it really had much to do with the music. It was mainly the presentation. The reason billy and co will always be successful is because they have the Pumpkin Factor. matt, paz and david don't, Zwan was only up to 40% energy. If mary star had been a pumpkins record with better presentation it would have had a much better reception.

I'm really getting into Zwan again now, especially there early stuff from 2001 and 2002, it totally rules. Can't stop listening to them at the moment.

it's a good album and i enjoy it. i like hearing it loud and watching full screen visualisation on winamp.

im not saying you're right or wrong, but, like i said many times before on this board, according to interviews zwan intended to release avant garde groundbreaking material (ala radiohead) but didnt want to scare away potential listeners in their genesis thus found it pertinent to release a freshman album of relative simplicity to that found in the later pumpkin albums...so if you ever wondering why msots was good but not 10x better than billy corgan's last album was (as each sucessive album proves to be), this is why

I agree with this post. Zwan's attempt at becoming Smashing Pumpkins-lite was what did the band in. While they weren't horrible in taking that approach, they were still alot better just being Zwan (ie Nov. 2001-Apr. 2002).

The only prob I have with some of the people who haterize on MSOTS is that they act as though Zwan raped their mother by putting it out. Its fine to say it was not a good record, but perspective like the kind listed above is nice. That said, I like the album very much.
