View Full Version : Listening to "Quiet and Other Songs"

Hey kids.

In 2-3 weeks I will be listening to the Library of Congress copy of the Siamese Dream demo tape entitled "Quiet and other songs." I do not know of anyone else who has actually done this yet - it does carry a hefty pricetag of $80. On the other hand, I would not be surprised if they had.

Here's why I'm broadcasting this on Netphoria. I want suggestions of what I should listen for, including other demos I should compare to this one, what variations should I look for... what YOU would want to know about these demos. You can find the spfc entry on them here:
http://spfc.org/band/studio.html?session_id=16

I do not plan to break federal copyright laws, and I will not in any way attempt to record this tape. So don't seriously suggest it.

If you would like to email me, do it here:
j_w_g3@nospamgeorgetown.edu

remove the (_ )'s and the "nospam".

I saw that today, but tried anyway. There was no record of them being missing there.

I actually ordered two things (you don't have to pay any extra), both of them listed under "quiet and other songs", and both with different pAU numbers. I did not order the Hexen video, because I have no interest in shitty 80's goth rock.

We'll see what happens.

yeah i did a full search, there are a few other things that i was going to listen to if i get a chance (i think i may be hitting the us this summer for a 'trip 'o pumpkins)

do you think you can add anything to your list?if so let me know and i'll pass on the PAu numbers.

there are 3 submissions from 2001 (named isn't it (2) and Jesus won't you come) that should be worth a listen...

The Library of Congress will register original works (books, music, films) as copyrighted under your name, so that you will be protected from fraud and illegal duplication.

Thank you, drive through.

I have to go back tomorrow for some research I'm doing for class (that's why I went today), so you might as well give them to me.

So how do you rent this out from the Library of Congress? I know you have to pay the 80 dollars as you said, but do you actually have to go there and tell them you want to hear it, or can you do it on the phone/online?

Joe; can a second person come along?

If it's in 3 weeks I'd be down; I'm busy until the 11th. I'd split the cost with you.

I don't know if that's possible though.

- listen for a cutout during quiet about a minute in
- kitty kat : does it sound the same as MP to you?
- pay attention to the spelling of tulips on any written documentation you see-- is it tulips or two lips?

thats all :)

And of course the obvious: do any of the "unheard" songs sound like parts of songs that were eventually released.

I'm expecting Cherub Rock and Today to have a variation in lyrics...basing my judgement on some late 1992 recordings.

Also, you're going to get to hear a studio version of suicide kiss (alternate Geek USA) , that will be very cool.

You should really look into viewing that hexen video. I don't think hexen was goth at all..more like a wannabe mid-80's hair band.

Quiet and Other Songs

SIDE ONE

Quiet
---------

Billy: This here's called...quell the fear...

Quiet
I am sleeping
He says
Give a little hope

Forget
All my pride
Instead
Move a little more

Be afraid
Of what you made
Never forget, yeah
I heard you

I am
Are you missing
Fuck you
And your little notes

Somewhere
Somewhere sleeping
Are you
And your little eyes

You gave those eyes
You gave the cutest eyes
You gave it all for him

Be afraid
Of what you make
Never forget you
You love him

Yeah!

(guitar solo)

Liar
Are you listening?
Liar
Can you even hear?
Liar
I am with you
Phone
If you wanna know

Woooooo
Ahhhhhhh
Yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah

Kitty Kat
------------

Billy: Kitty Kat?...Hmm...(with a slightly southern accent)...This here's the tunin' song.

Say hello
Before you say goodbye
Wanna go
Boy you make me cry

You wanna bleed
Every drop inside of me
But I am to please
The little girl inside of me
Yeah

Yeah yeah
You know I mean to stay
Oh no
I don't wanna be like the other children
Who's sorry now
Who's sorry now
Who's sorry now
Who's sorry
Now

(guitar solo)

I don't want your loving no more, no
Cause he don't need you to setup more scars
But I want to bleed your everything and
Use up me, be your everything

Yeah yeah
You gotta push the string
Yeah yeah
Well I don't wanna be like the other children
Who's sorry now
If I show you how
Would you let me out
When I wanted out
With the strongest of faith
It's the only way (?)

My love is weakness
My love is oh so wrong
My love is sadness
My love is oh so strong
My teeth are razor sharp
My back is fucking strong
I'll be with you
But not for long

(guitar solo)

Yeah yeah
I never felt that way
Oh yeah
I'm gonna stay
I don't wanna be like the other children
Who's sorry now
If I show you how
Will you let me out
Cause I wanted out
Who's sorry now
Will you let me out
I'm sorry babe
Will you let me

Woohoo
ooo
Woohoo
ooo

(Six false endings in a row before the real one - each building bigger and bigger off the same progression.)

Cherub Rock
--------------------

Billy: ready?

most of a verse is played w/o lyrics

Oh yeah
I'm here
And I love to be the fear of you

Do you
know what's happening in the mood this year?
Do you
know I bought it from that fair?
You and your sound

Who wants honey
As long as there's some money
Who wants that honey?

Oh yeah
I'm here
And I'd love him to be up for it all
New year
Are you listening to the beat
Did you come here
I am frightened and I'm scared
I'm the world

Who wants honey
As long as there's some money
Who wants honey?

Let me out
Yeah let me out
Yeah let me out
Yeah let me out

(guitar solo)

Who wants honey
As long as there's some money
Who wants honey?

Let me out
Yeah let me out
Yeah let me out
Yeah let me out

Oh yeah
Oh yeah

Suicide Kiss
--------------------
Bruised myself again
Trying hard to be the friend
Even when I lie (?)
Lost myself he says
Didn't want it anyway
Didn't want the thing he never loved

She don't like it
She buried her lows
She don't like it
Cause I wear her clothes

Prove myself again
Trying hard to be your friend
Even when I do, you never love
I'll be on, I say
She's tired of me anyway
You'd never think that she never loved

Be yourself
Will yourself
Will your feelings
Give yourself self

She don't like it
When I wear her clothes
She don't like it
When I sing this song

Gave it all away to you
Nothing more that I could do
What I said you know was true

My suicide kiss, my secret wish
I'll give you what you want
And hold your every wish

My suicide kiss, my secret wish
I'll give you what you want
And hold your every wish

My suicide kiss, my angel lips
I'll give you what you want
My suicide kiss, my angel wish

Don't be yourself
You'll be yourself
Little by little
You will sell
Be yourself
Be yourself
Be yourself

You really love yourself
You really love yourself
I really love myself
You know I need to sell
She only need to sell
She only wanna sell
You only wanna sell

She gave it all away
She gave it all away
She gave it all away
And I didn't care

Today
--------------
Billy: (sing-songy) Today is the greatest day...

(starts with the one guitar, goes heavy and STAYS HEAVY the whole song - less dynamics)

Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't live for tomorrow
Tomorrow's much too long
I'll burn my eyes out
Before I get out

I want to say
What makes you not believe me?
We gotta plan
We gotta save

Today is the greatest
Day I've never known
Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

(this whole part was very hard to interpret, so this probably not correct)
We got a plan
Thought you'd want out
It's only there
We gotta new plan
It's only there
But if you care
We've got it made

Today is
Today is
Today is
The greatest day

I wanna turn you on
I wanna turn you on
I'm gonna turn you on
I'm gonna turn you

Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I ever have let you know

Disarm
------------
(no cello)

Disarm you with a smile
Cut you like you want me to
Cut that little child
Inside of me and such a part of you
Ooh, the years burn
Ooh, the years burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my voice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
I send this smile over to you

Disarm you with a smile
Cut you like you want me to
Cut my little child
Inside of me and such a part of you
Ooh, the years burn
Ooh, the years burn, burn, burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
What I choose is my choice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
I send this smile over to you.

(quickly winds down)

Billy: Alright, just hit the step, right, and let it roll

Rocket
--------------
(lots of misc. guitar noise being made in front of the usual intro)

Bleed in your own light
Dream of your own life
I miss me
I miss everything I'll never be
Come on, come on

Cause when the days return
You'll find yourself alone
And your hands above your heart, ahh
And we'll rise

I won't pretend
I won't pretend today
Remember you
Who are they in here to you?

C'mon and die another night
Cause it's only one of you
Doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo
I don't know what I'll do

You will find yourself alone
To relax and fade away
Do you know what's going round?
Do you so want to away

I shall be free
I shall be free, free
I shall be free
Free the rocket inside of me

Spaceboy
---------------
(This may be the same as the Mashed Potatoes version)

Feel it
Break your bones
Mr. Jones

Taste me
As I bleed
Feel my need

Spaceboy I've missed you
Spinning round my head
Any way you choose me
You'll break instead

Watch me
Death defy
Defile my life

I don't need
I don't care
Please

I want to go home
I want to go home
I want to go home
I want to go home
'cause when a lover aches
That's when a lover breaks
I want to go home
I want to go home

Spaceboy they'll kill me
Before I'm dead and gone
And any way you choose me
You won't be wrong
And anyway you break me
We won't belong

We won't belong
We won't belong
We won't belong
It won't belong
You won't belong

Set the Ray to Jerry
-----------------------------
(ELECTRIC FULL BAND!)

(Jimmy taps sticks three times, pauses then two times, then a four-count goes into a full band version. It then abruptly abandons.)

Billy: Start it with the guitar. (Guitar starts.) Three, four...

Now you see
What I was talking about
Who says hello
In the scream and the shout
I say
When you're pouring round
He says hello
And I'm going down

I - want you
And all you see
He needs you
And all you are
He says
I - want you

(very cool guitar counterpoint duet)

Now you see
That I'm so down
He says hello
But I've borrowed you now
I say
I've got so much
I loaned to you
Before it's done
I say

I - want you
And all you are
To me
Who you are
And he said
All you are
To me
See in my love
You are who you are
You are good, my love
You know you are lovely

And all your reason is going out
Indecision let you out
God, you fucker - born again
I'm stuck here every time you say

I - want you
All you are
Need you
All you are
Want you
All you are

Soma
------------

Billy: One, two, three, four

Nothing left to say
And all I've left to do
Is run away
From you
And she led me on, on
Onto my own lie

Close your eyes and sleep
Don't wait up for me
Shush now, don't you speak

Nothing left to do
I merely wanted to choose
I'd lay in wait again
But she led me on, on, yeah on, and on

I'm all by myself
I'm all by myself
I'm all by myself
She led me on, me on, and on

(it hits)

You don't wait for me
I don't want to say
She don't wait again
Before it is
It is, it is, is, is, is

I'm all by my
Close your eyes and
I'm all by my
Close your eyes and
I'm all by myself

She let me down
Down
Down
Down
Down
Let me down
Let me down

(guitar solo)

SIDE TWO

Whir/Whirl
-----------------

I wasted all my years
Been chasing all my fears
For another brighter than you
I gave in long ago
To make it to the show
But it's not easy
When you're alone

All your prayers
In my ears,
All fall in, dah dah dah dah
Don't you care (something spoken by Billy)
Whir yourself around
Just to fall back down
Whir yourself around

My honey little girl
C'mon let's go for a whirl
It's still early
Sun is sleeping
She says she wants to marry me
She says she wants a baby
It's not easy
When you're in love

Whir yourself around
Just to fall back down
Whir yourself around

(extended outro not on PI version)

Doorstep (Meladori Magpie)
---------------------------------------

Jimmy: One, two, three...One, two, three, four...(laughing)
Billy: Hold them back

Did I know you?
Or I do I know your name
Did I use you?
All the same

Did I like you?
Did I know your name?
Did I use you?
Do you know?

Doo doo dee
doo doo doh dee ay dee ay

I'm okay
I'm okay

And on my doorstep
I await for her
Only she knows
And it's on her

Billy: One more

(Billy hums the next few lines)

I'm okay
I'm okay
I'm always waiting
Up today

Billy: Stop it here...I wish you would go...dah dah dah
James: Want it to what?
Billy: I just want it to be like that all straight through, but I don't want any kind of...know what I mean? I just want it to be, the group to be, kind of very straight. Okay, hit it again.

Pissant
--------------

(no vocals the first two verses and choruses)

Gimme money
Fuck you!
And your little brother!
And your little sister!
Give it to your mama!
Ow!

Gotta lotta money
Gotta a big big fast car
Gotta little love for you and me
Baby

Inside your head
Trust me instead
Do you feel
Oh honey we are safe
We are safe, we are safe
Who'd you hear?

Jimmy: (inaudible)
Billy: Start it with the...try to..split the difference between the funkier drum and the...know what I mean?
Jimmy: No.
Billy: Umm, let's do drums and bass and just cut it.

Tulips (yes, Tulips)
---------------
Jimmy: Ready?
Billy: Yeah

(starts with drums, cymbals, and bass; guitar then kicks in)

You've gotta mess with your heart
You've gotta tear it apart
You couldn't show it again
You put it all bare inside

Even with him what are you?
Is there something?

You've gotta mess with that heart
You've gotta tear it apart
You plan to show it again
And I ain't a restless guy

I am there
You don't need yourself
Love me above all
Love me above everybody
Love me above yourself

Stop dear
You can't learn
Stop it
I'm not in love with you
Stop it
You can't learn
Stop it
Look out

(guitar solo)

Do you want it now, he said
Do you want it now, he said
Do you want it now, he said
Do you want it now, he said
I want it now, she said
I want it now, she said
I want it now

Stop it
Do you want her
Stop it
I got a lot of her
Stop it
Do you want her
Stop it

Blew Away
---------------------

James: Let's start it slower than yesterday...Oh...

Blew, blew away
But I don't wanna fade
Blew, blew, blew

And if you love her
You know it will come true
And if you need her
You know that she'll be there

Come along inside me
With her and I fall
When I wake inside you
I know your love carry on, i fade

Blew, blew away
But I don't want to fade
Blew, blew, blew

And if you're sad, too
Until the angel sings and touches you
Don't confuse my only love
As it blew

Well I wanna let her know
And I wanna let her go
I wanna let her know
That I love her so

Blew, blew, blew away
But I don't wanna
Blew, blew, blew

(a good deal of the vocals are typical Iha strainings and near misses...ouch...not always fun to listen to)

French Movie Theme
---------------------------------
(acoustics and drums)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (laughing)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Billy: (in slight German accent) I can't believe you messed it up!...(back to himself) No, it's not, there's no C in there; it's a C sharp!

Hummer
----------------
(nice wah-wah tease at the front)

Faith lies in
The ways of sin
I chased the charmed
But I don't want them anymore

And in your eyes I was alive
A fool disguised
Something's wrong with you

Shame my tongue
Fat with promise all along
When I woke up from that sleep
I was happier than I'd ever been

When you decide
That your life is a prize
Renew, revive
That's alright honey
That's alright, yeah
Wait, uhn

Do what you will for kisses
That you keep alone
Put on some lipstick

Yeah, I want something new
But what am I supposed to do about you
Yeah, I love you, it's true

Life's a bummer
When you're a hummer
Life's a drag

And ask yourself a question
Anyone but me
I ain't free

And ask yourself a question
Anyone but me
I ain't free

You, I do
(humming)
Do you?

Billy: James, can we get the sex in it? Try it. No, fifths chord. I'm saying, be real minimal. Ready?
Butch?: Alright, ready.
Billy: Nah, I can live without it, James.

Frail and Bedazzled
--------------------------------

Say, now listen here
I wanna be oh so clear
I lost myself
Lost I'll stay
Between your hands and my belief
And here I am, frail
Frail and bedazzled from all the glare

Tug at my sleeve
My little girl, super me
She don't know the man I am
She don't wanna go where I need
And all I wanted
Was what I need
Since I gave up
I feel free
I feel free
I feel free
I feel free, yeah

Two of us less dangerous
All inside your head
You will go on for both of us
Two can not be saved

Try to understand
The ones that love and their demands
So unfair they don't see
I'm the boy that really needs
Their love, frail

Frail and bedazzled from all the
Frail and bedazzled from all the
Frail and bedazzled from all the glare.

Glynis
---------------

Billy: Less fast, It's a little, a little edgy.

Here's a name you cannot forget
Her name is Glynis.
And with these tears of respect
Come forms of sadness
Will I ever see her again?
Only when it (?)

On our worried knees
In all to fall the sound
I now do believe it all will fall
Ooh, bury your head in the sand
Ooh, bury your head in, yeah
Ooh, bury your head

(humming the next verse)
I will with her
I will fall with her
I will be there, given up, given up

On your fallen lap
In order to fall the sound
You do not lose hope
And until the fall
Ooh, bury your head in the sand
Ooh, bury your head in, yeah
Ooh, bury your head.

It's gonna be alright
It's gonna be alright

Ooh, yeah, yeah, my soul
Ooh, yeah, yeah, my head

She Says
------------------

Silence hovers about the night
I lie awake and all I see is black
I can feel those ghosts calling I suppose
And when I need her most, not enough is done, yeah

She says, I guess,
She says it's all inside my head
I want what she needs
I gave her everything for me, yeah
No, you're scared
Know your prayer

I don't want to hear your name
I don't want to know her lover
I am angry now
I am bitter now
Five years I had held her so
Now I was just let go of her

She says I need
She says it's all inside my head
I want, but she needs
I gave her everything but me
She says I need
She says it's all inside my head
I want, but she needs
She needs you

Good thing
And I do

(heavy guitars, then soft again)

Where are you now?
Where are you now?
Where are you now?

(heavy guitars)

She says I wanted to now that we've
She says I wanted to
I give it all
I give it all
She says, she says
She says, she says
She says
She says it's all inside my head
I want, I want
I want, I want
I want her

Yeah,
Oh yeah

Billy: Bit staggered, a little, too.

Sweet, Sweet
-------------------------

Sweet sweet sweet sweet little agony
I don't know just where you've been
But I'll take take take
All that you have for me
In sin
Where are we going?

And they all want you to change
And they all want you to change

And the sad sad sad
All the sad faces drown
In this town
Where are we going, yeah?
Where are we going, yeah?
Where are we going?

(odd minor chord comes in, then leaves as the song wraps up)

Mayonaise
------------------

(first attempt quickly abandoned, then starts again; second guitar starts playing a little out of tune)

Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
Soon
Pick your pocket full of sorrow
Run away with me tomorrow
Doom

Take faster plans
Run with the bands, yeah

(humming lyrics)

Yeah, when I fail
(humming), when I can

(lots of guitar distortion on the solo)

(humming), when I can
Words misunderstand, when I can

Pick your pocket full of sorrows
Run away with me tomorrow
Pick your pocket full tomorrow
We can't go on too far now
Pick your pocket full of sorrows
Run away with me tomorrow
Open up and reach inside now

I want you to beeeeeee
And when I can
(cuts off)

My first question is this, there are two QAOS tapes in the LoC. Did you listen to bothe of them, are they basically the same only one has fewer tracks, or are they totally different takes of the songs?

No, there are two records on QAOS in the LoC. One of them is just an addendum to the tape's listed contents. The catalog numbers are for the records, whether they in-clude accessory media or not. There is only one QAOS tape in possession of the LoC/Copyright Office.

There is also a copy of SD demos that Billy gave to a girl a long, long time ago.

Now didn't you say in the other thread that you went and they were missing so you watched the Hexen video?

Please don't be squirrelly with something so huge.

This is the problem, can't you just wait and see how things play about before hurling wild accusations? This is why people hoard things. We're all in it for the same thing, let's try and be civil.

Whoa now. I didn't go calling him a lying bitch or anything. I'm just wondering why he didn't bring this up in his post here:

The tapes went missing sometime last year. I know b/c I tried to get to them. First you request them and you have to pay upfront. Then you schedule some time. However, when I went, almost everything interesting was "missing/not able to be found". Which means that they were taken from the storage facility (in Lynchburg, btw) sometime in the past. Being that most of them have been sitting there for ten years or so, not terribly surprising.

Here's what I could figure out, though, from the empty tapes' j-cards. Demos for Billy Corgan, tapes 1-7 is just Mashed Potatoes. So don't bother with that. Brain tripping, mind dripping, is the 1989 demo we already have. The Will Corg demo is not Corgan, but is available if you don't believe me. The two tape Lover thing is also missing, but is only Machina Acoustic Demos and some stuff they later put onto Judas O.

Regarding security, all you have to do is look on the LOC's webpage to see that the security is tight, and since 9/11 they've been adding a lot more, including certain things not specifically mentioned there (re - tiny video cameras, better detectors to catch unauthorized removals, etc.). The tapes have a large target put on them to discourage removal, but if you look really carefully around the head mechanism, the LOC also puts tiny targets on the tapes themselves (you can only see these if they badly disguise them, and even then, only on the tapes made of clear plastic...).

Furthermore, you're not alone in there - the actual listening area is essentially a corner of the copyright office's main staff area. You're surrounded by staff people, who check up on you every now and then and can come out of nowhere. To make matters all the more tempting, almost all the various media machines (one of about every kind you can imagine) has blank media sitting right next to it. They do watch what you're doing frequently enough that you wouldn't be able to make a copy without being detected.

If you go for the Hexen video, it is there, but the quality is quite shitty - probably the same tape that VH1 had - and they'll likely want you to watch that first, since it will allow them to free up the video stuff for any other parties. Which reminds me, if anyone else is there to listen, you're automatically out of luck as far as doing anything stupid. If you don't believe me about the Hexen video, here's the proof I saw it - there is a dog that wanders into the video at various times. A small black dog. Sometimes the camera person even zooms onto it.

As for physical security checks, there's an airport-security-tight check on going in, and a magnetizer going out. The magnetizer is similar to most library security things, except that it's much higher powered, and it

No, you're right. I did claim that. However, I've been to the LoC several times, which is why I know about when certain things disappeared. I did get confused about what was missing, though, so I had to check with my notes - it's most of the Billy Corgan demos that are missing, not QAOS. My bad. This isn't really too much of a tragedy, though, since that's essentially MP.

Is there anything else I can answer or clarify?

Well, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. But, quite frankly, it doesn't bother me, b/c whoever is the next to listen (I'm assuming it will be Slurpee), will be able to verify my information. The end.

Edit: Furthermore, the very track order would be incredibly lucky if I managed to coincidentally list these tracks in the right order - especially considering a good portion of side two's tracks aren't listed in the catalog entry.

If you want some further proof, the tape is in an official Chrysalis J-card, with tracks written on I believe a typewriter on the J-card. And the tape itself is a clear tape with professionally printed white labels on each side of the tape itself.

So the question is -
a) did I actually listen to the tape?
b) am I almost supernaturally able to make up information about the tape that will check out?
c) or am I lying?

Now, you can believe (c)...but it seems kinda strange to put myself this far out on a limb when someone else will be there in a matter of a few days or weeks to be able to debunk me if I am indeed lying.

You can believe (b), but the chances that I'm that good a predictor just aren't so.

Or you can believe (a). Well, hey, I've given more specific evidence regarding the tape than anyone else. I can't give you a copy, obviously, so all I can do is pass along the information and hope that someone can back me up on it down the line. I already have all this info; I'm just passing it along because I figured others would be interested as well.

And also for the record, it's been over a year since the last time I was there. My memory is allowed to be rusty enough that I need to look at my notes to sort out some of this stuff. After all, I didn't write down the transcription of the tape from memory! I had it written down from the last time I visited.

I hope that satisfies you, but if it doesn't, so be it.

Yeah, I can definitely relate. Listening to this stuff essentially was the end of my Pumpkins obsession. Not b/c it was bad or anything, but just b/c having gone so far and put so much energy into all of it, I just felt that this was the peak of the mountain for me; time to come down.

No, I won't know for another 10-14 days. But Mr. PaU says QAOS was NOT missing when he went to listen, and that he misspoke before.

Hey, if you want to call them and see if you can come with me to listen, feel free. http://www.copyright.gov

he went to listen and brought a tape recorder with him and tried to copy them, but they caught him. john ashcroft said that he was obviously working with the terrorists to try to steal this country's valuable unreleased corgan resources and i heard they've shipped him off to cuba or something. last i heard they had a bag over his head and were loading him onto a plane.
