View Full Version : DVD Burning with Nero?

I have an ND-1300A DVD R/RW drive, I've got it to burn a bunch of music videos and old cartoons like thundercats on a dvd with a menu at the start, and it was gonna burn my Kill Bill mpeg which is 1.12 gig. It re encodes the files for you before burning, I know that.

Why does it tell me my fear and loathing .avi, which is only 700Mb is too big for a DVD? It then gives me the option to reduce the quality in order to fit it on the DVD, and if I choose yes it says it wasn't able to do it.

Will I have to reduce the quality of fear and loathing manually and then export it as a new smaller movie file before burning? This just seems to be a pain in the ass as it looks like it will take a few hours to export.

Why can it fit in a 1.12 gig mpeg and not a 700mb avi?

It also said it could just fit on Pumping Iron which is 633mb, but Kill Bill only seemed to take up half the space they did on the dvd :-/

because it re-encodes your avi to m2v prehaps. and when it does that it most likely makes it TOO big.

i am going guess this avi is really a divix rip?

Yeah, you'll need to transcode into MPEG2 with... TMPGENC or something. I think that only has a trial though. I wouldn't rely on Nero to do it itself. But MPEG2 isn't as compressed as MPEG4 (like you get in divx/xvid) so it's gonna end up bigger.

Cheers everyone, Nero actually did the re encoding for me but took a good wee while to do it.

I think I burnt Fear and Loathing too fast cause the first few mins are fine then it gets all blocky and stuff.

I got this freeware program, DVD Shrink and copied 4 dvds last night that seem to have turned out perfick! tar!
