WBCN XMAS RAVE 2002 - ALERT!

***Just Added - Zwan, Interpol and The Damn Personals!
Billy Corgan's new band Zwan is coming to Boston to play with Coldplay and Ok Go at the Orpheum! Zwan's performance will be their Boston Debut!

Zwan is the end result of a promise that Billy Corgan made to Matt Sweeney over 10 years ago that he wanted to form another band. During the 90's Corgan had the urge to write the type of music he wanted that was not tied to the aura of The Smashing Pumpkins, his current band at the time. Once the Pumpkins broke up, Corgan came to Sweeney and told him it was time to work on that project. Hence, Zwan came into existance.

The band consists of: Billy Corgan on vocals and lead guitar, Jimmy Chamberlin, also of The Smashing Pumpkins, on drums, Matt Sweeney, of the band Chavez, on guitar, David Pajo, of Papa M, on guitar & bass. Paz Lenchantin from A Perfect Circle was later added to play bass.

hmm... and i thought that wbcn had plagiarized gavin mcginnes' article. i didn't realize that the 10 year promise part was common knowledge.

"In December 2000, ten years after their first meeting, Corgan and Matt ran into each other and decided it was time to fulfill their promise. The band would be called Zwan. " - Gavin McGinnes, Viceland.com

i contemplated going to the Orpheum to see Zwan play, and stay with a friend. I think i'll wait out the NYC show...the Orpheum staff just sucks...period, no nothing, no waiting after shows, no standing up, no nothing. The place isn't GA...so thats also a big minus...its a great venue...but not for a rock concert.
oh well
