Granted, the songs all sounded different, mind you, it's just the songs themselves were kind of flat and had a tendency to go nowhere. strange_one 11-03-2002, 06:43 PM I've been meaning to buy one of their records for ages now James is Cool 11-03-2002, 06:52 PM Originally posted by strange_one I've been meaning to buy one of their records for ages now I haven't heard any of the other albums completely through, but I'll suggest And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out. It's so beautiful and tranquil and wonderful. Mmm. killtheyouth 11-03-2002, 07:15 PM one of the best bands of the last 15 years. I can hear the heart beating as one is my favorite, followed by And then nothing...but almost all of its terrific. spa ced 11-03-2002, 07:18 PM Originally posted by James is Cool I haven't heard any of the other albums completely through, but I'll suggest And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out. It's so beautiful and tranquil and wonderful. Mmm. YOU MUST GO OUT AND BUY I CAN HEAR THE HEART BEATING AS ONE IMMEDIATELY. It's one of the best records, EVER. It has classic songs like Moby Octopad, Sugarcube, Stockholm Syndrome, Green Arrow, Autumn Sweater... House of Bread 11-03-2002, 10:02 PM I can hear the heart beating as one owns me Junebug 11-03-2002, 10:18 PM I really like on our way to fall and Black to Blue..and Last Days of Disco. And Then Nothing....does get a little repetitive to me sometimes, but I still enjoy it. It's good bedtime music. tear stained glass 11-04-2002, 01:07 AM Electr-O-Pura doesn't get enough recognition. But yeah, Yo La Tengo are fucking awesome. I still need to get And Nothing..., though. Mason R Butler 11-04-2002, 01:16 AM I like The Velvet Underground. Lie 11-04-2002, 04:07 PM Yo La Tengo is one of those bands that makes me angry, because they write good music but they exploit their dorkiness and it ruins some of their songs. I'm serious. It sounds funny but they totally do. If you've heard And Then Nothing you should know what I mean. Undone 11-04-2002, 10:26 PM Bands that are so inconsistent piss me off way more than bands that simply suck. Naturally this is all subjective, but UGH. Some of their work is so amazing, then I have to skip half the album. Best Looking Boy 11-04-2002, 10:32 PM I just got Fakebook and Painful and those two are fucking fantastic. Definitely a must get if you haven't heard. Best Looking Boy 11-04-2002, 10:33 PM Oh yeah I'm quite fond of And Then Nothing... and Heart Beating as one, but I figured you guys already gave pretty glowing endorsements. How many Yo La Tengo albums do you actually have? a fistful of yen 11-05-2002, 05:04 PM The Sounds of the Sounds of Silence is really incredible as well. See if you can find it on Soulseek. Undone 11-05-2002, 05:09 PM Originally posted by Best Looking Boy How many Yo La Tengo albums do you actually have? Since Lie and I seem to agree, I'll answer it also. I have Pres Yo La Tengo/New Wave Hot Dogs (can't get through it), Painful, Electropura, ...Heart Beating as One, and And then Nothing... Undone 11-05-2002, 05:10 PM The time I saw them live before owning any albums was the best. Thanks to Jimmy/silvergeek for that one. They are an amazing live band. Lie 11-05-2002, 05:35 PM Originally posted by Best Looking Boy How many Yo La Tengo albums do you actually have? I own Electr-O-Pura and And Then Nothing..., and have heard all of I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One and Painful. Electr-O-Pura is my favorite, if that helps appropriately disqualify my opinion. Best Looking Boy 11-05-2002, 05:50 PM Thank you for confirming what I thought. frail_and_bedazzled 11-06-2002, 12:06 AM i just have one...that double cd? ugh. it has music bars on it...one's black, one's white? i haven't listened to it in ages.
