the Liars were the 2001->2002 word of mouth thing when their '01 album on a tiny label got picked up in '02 by Mute.
Broken Social Scene was the 2002->2003 one when their '02 album got picked up by Arts & Crafts in '03 and people actually started listening to it.

WHO WILL IT BE FOR 2003->2004?

much more interesting! but i guess a little less mainstream sounding, so it wouldn't have made them popular
