Creative, no gangsta shit (though I may enjoy some of this at a different time, I am not looking for it right now).

Progressive like Dr. Octagon, but not as silly. More transcending. As "out there" as possible, please. Thanks :)

I have this album; it is pretty good. Some of the lyrics are awesome. When he goes on and on about Saturn, it can be rather annoying though.

That's more of two-step with semi-rap-ish lyrics more than hip hop... Good though.

For PROPER Hip-Hop check cLOUDDEAD, Lewis Parker, Tribe called Quest, Sole, DJ Mayonaise, De La Soul(Bit more commercial). cLOUDEAD Is a must thouh for any music lover very VERY twisted though.

Limp Bizkit = Metal

The Herbaliser : The Blend,

Lewis Parker: 101 Pianos (I've Put Out The Lights),
Sole: I Don't Wrap on Bumper Stickers,

Anyway, I gave Rhonda recommendations in IM and now I can't remember what I recommended. Except I remember I recommended the Urban Renewal Program, which rules. And nobody has recommended Prefuse 73. He's not really hiphop, I guess, but he borders on it at times. J5 is pretty good but really derivative of old-school groups who do it better: ATCQ, De La Soul. Oh, and there's this Russian guy named DJ Vadim who just put out a compilation of some really sweet stuff.

i just saw prefuse 73, and it was really crazy. it was like mostly instrumental hip-hop with beats that slightly changed all the time. it still had a great groove, but didn't really lend itself to the sampled mc-ing. but creative nonetheless...

and i haven't heard the new comp you speak of, but dj vadim doesn't sound hip-hop really. he doesn't really stand out, but he's certainly not bad.

These are all still in the PENDING LISTENING niche, so I should hop to it. I saw Prefuse with Tortoise and Autechre a year or so ago, and unfortunately he was sick and did this super annoying predictable rant in place of music.

Yes I am a slowpoke. I dl'ed two Arrested D songs, and was totally unimpressed. Sounded like everything else I've ever heard. If this group is anything special, point out a song to show me that (if you haven't done so already, agh I can't look at pg 1 from here).

Aesop Rock: The two I dl'ed were a little more interesting and sorta 'poppy' in a good way. I intend to check them out more.
