Is there any way to control the upload speed? It's pissing me off that I am uploading at 200kps and only downloading at 100-150kps.

I have found out how to open ports. Faster speeds.

Step 1: Go to your router's configuration by typing your ip address in the address bar... ex: 192.168.2.1 (make sure you dont put http:, www, etc.)
*If you dont know your ip go down to the bottom of this tutorial and find out how to view it.
Step 2: Find the page that opens your ports (it would usually ask for pass & user, but by default the user/pass should be "admin"), it should look similar to the picture below (different routers have different interfaces).
Step 3: Open up the ports from 6881 to 6889 and for public port put "6881-6889" without the "".
Step 4: Usually you will have to restart your router so look for an option to do that.

*To find your IP address go Start>Run>type "cmd" without the "" and press enter>type "ipconfig" and press enter>The very last IP at the bottom is the one you insert into your address bar.

Link?

My ISP places a cap on uploads and downloads per month... Grrrr.

Don't lower your upload too much, or it kind of defeats the purpose of BitTorrent.

That would be useful if I was running Windows.

My ISP only allows 1gig of uploads a month.
Besides, uploads shouldn't be DOUBLE or even TRIPLE the download rate.

Newer trackers control upload speeds by banning you if you don't maintain an u/d ratio, etc. To try and keep it as fair as possible.

If you use any of the BT programs outside of BT itself, you should have a way to limit the up.

..and yes, if you have double or triple uploaded, it makes you a good user and not a leech.
