Since when do you like 12 Rods? I saw the first show with their new drummer... The jock looking guy that also drums with Happy Apple; his jock friends kept yelling at him for a drum solo.

i discovered 12rods a year ago, right about when lost time came out. shortly beforehand i downloaded split personalities off soulseek byfluke through way of AMG's review of Fulflej's album Wack-ass Tuba Riff (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDMISS70401011602060835&sql=A2ft67ub080jh).didn't think much of the album at first, but it grew on me and then it quickly became one of my favorite albums ever.

few weeks later, pitchfork posts the review for lost time, and i bought it. and it's my favorite album of last year.

i just picked up 1 of the 100 copies gay? rerelease off their ugly ass site. sounds a lot better than the mp3s i've had of the original. cool beans, but not as cool as the other albums...

and separation anxieties is full of great hooks and weird melodies. it's nice.

that's since when i liked 12 rods. the end.

how many people go to 12 rods shows when they play around town? is the band relatively big on the scene? is there a scene at all? i'm curious...

They can fill the house, for sure. They're one of the biggest local bands here in Minneapolis, they have been since their first record. I haven't seen them since then, though (god, was that in 1999?) and once before with another big local act who probably should have "made it" but I'm kinda glad they didn't :p called Flipp. They're like Green Day meets Cheap Trick, but with the cheese factor cranked super high. every punk rock teenager in Minneapolis discovers Flipp, buys a shirt and a CD, and figures out how gay they actually are by the time they graduate. I know I did!

Ironicly, I've seen used copies of the Gay? EP around Minneapolis for a while. ;) Should have let me known, i could've picked you up a copy!
