pink_ribbon_scars 12-11-2003, 01:56 PM What are the names & types of some of the neighborhoods in your city?
Chicago has tons but here are a few that stand out:

Bronzeville - Black
Englewood - Poor black
Gold Coast - Rich
Lakeview - Young professional/yuppie
Pilsen - Mexican
Boner 12-11-2003, 02:01 PM Dallas' hoods are so originally named. I live in Midtown.
Oak Lawn - teh gay district
Oak Cliff - teh ghetto
Deep Ellum - teh artsy fartsy district
Midtown - 20-somethings with college degrees and some money
Uptown - young professionals/yuppies
West Village - young professionals/yuppies w/ more $$ than Uptowners
I have no clue. Greenville is full of fucking yuppies. Past the downtown area a little bit is the ghetto and MAN, is it ever ghetto. This place sucks horse cock.
Nimrod's Son 12-11-2003, 02:11 PM Hillcrest: Gay homosexuals
Pacific Beach: bars, surfers, beaches
Mission Beach: see Pacific Beach, but less bars
Mira Mesa: Asians
Clairemont: near-beach community
Point Loma: cute in some parts, but rampant with homeless people in others.
North Park: Ghetto.
South Park: Nice houses.
Mission Hills: Expensive area overlooking parts of the city
Old Town: Historical district, very old mexican style
Sports Arena: Commercial
Downtown: Big buildings.
Mission Valley: Malls, commercial developments, stores, football stadium
Scripps Ranch: burned suburbs
Kearney Mesa: Commercial district inland.
Ocean Beach: Pain in the ass to get to, but nice little houses and full of stoners
City Heights: Crackton
Normal Heights: Decent neighborhood, old stores, too close to Crackton
Kensington: Used to be one of the rich places, but now, isn't. Still nice neighborhood.
Rancho Bernardo: Suburbs
Rancho Penisquitas: Suburbs
University Heights: Between the slums and Fagtown
Imperial Beach: Gangland mixed with millitary people since it's close to bases
Miramar: Highly commercial, filled with marines
Coronado: Beautiful Island community.
UTC: University Town Center. Close to La Jolla and UCSD. Expensive and commercial.
I'm sure I'm missing a bunch more.. that's just off the top of my head. None of those areas are incorporated into their own towns.. they're all within San Diego limits.

I'd have to say Little Village takes the crown for being the Mexican neighborhood... while Pilsen still has Mexicans residing within the community and a strong list of Mexican buisnesses, it's quickly growing into a very yuppie oriented area of the city.
I'll add:
Humboldt Park- Puerto Rican
....to that list.
twice 12-11-2003, 03:24 PM Oh and you can't forget Wicker Park. There's even a movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0324554/) entitled after the area being released in the next year. I'd group that as one of the yuppie/art neighborhoods of the city.
