obvious: Tonight, Tonight...and I liked Zero. it was freaky.

Also, I'm almost positive the song was called "hellbent" by a band called Kenna. I could be wrong though....saw it on MTV2. It was claymation and really really cool looking I thought. And the "plot" or what have you was good too.

Mayonaise.

As far as I'm concerned, there are only 5 videos that have ever been made in the history of music:

1. A live band performance
2. Some weird, artsy crap, like the Tool videos
3. A cartoon, usually drawn by some fuck-stick like todd 'nobody cares about me anymore' mcfarlane
4. A concept video, which is basically 'oh, look how hot the vocalist is'.
5. A combination of 1 & 4

Congratulations. You've basically 'summarised' the music video genre into either animation, something with plot, a live performance video or something that is artistically embellished. What else do you really think there is to do?

Crystal Method (featuring Scott Weiland) - You Know It's Hard

Not a great song by any means, but the funniest (and only) video to date that I've ever seen that makes extensive use of a blow-up doll.

Black Flag - TV Party

'Captures the spirit of the song quite well and fun to watch.

Circle Jerks - I Wanna Destroy You

Another fun one. . .

A classic early '90s MTV staple with a dude dressing up as a pregnant lady. :D

Deconstruction - L.A. Song

remember the foghat rule: your fifth album will be double live!

heh heh heh. that video's so great.

my favorite videos ever:
rem - electrolite
pixies - head on
pulp - this is hardcore
metallica - one
daft punk - da funk
future sound of london - my kingdom
juno reactor - god is god
and of course paranoid android and all the various bjork + sp videos and stuff. and most everything by chris cunningham.

edit: i forgot the new pollution by beck. that's one of the best videos ever. i've always liked his old shitty surreal stuff, and to see that aesthetic collide with a successful MTV-friendly video is just awesome. and funny.

Out of interest, does anyone have any idea what the fuck is going in any TOOL video?
Do they have a meaning or anything or are they just strange for the sake of being strange?

Tool likes to fuck with people and they do have a sense of humor ("intermission" on Ænema and "Disgustipated") so I think most of the time their videos are strange for the sake of being strange.
