<font color=018f81>The album is pretty good, but i think the mixing/engineering on it sounds like shit. Maybe I shouldn't be comparing it to the awesome mixing of QOTSA's latest, but i really don't like the mixing job here. At times when the songs want to get real loud, they really don't. I have nice Headphones, and when put it at max, it sounds like i am using cheap-ass 99 cent store headphones. Sometimes it seems like there's too much bass or the guitars aren't loud enough.

WTF? :(

I've got my copy from the internet, and my cd sounds like you described it. I thought it was just the sound quality which a cd has when you get it on the internet.

the copy you got off the net is almost certain to be a tape rip.

Yeah. That's a common problem in cds nowadays.

Listen to Lateralus compared to Aenima.

<font color=018f81>I think people need to start having Tom Lord-Alge, Adam Kasper or Andy Wallace mix their Cds.

Eh?

I think Lateralus sounds great. Better than Ænima.

it's because 75% of all cds released nowadays are mixed in pro-tools by people who should stick to hardware

I think that at certain points the vocals can be louder. Otherwise I love it.
If you downloaded it, don't trust it. All the mp3's up until last Tuesday were casstette sourced which is shit to begin with.

its not the mix that is fucked up. its the mastering job. its their job to bring the dB level up to or past nominal level, and do tests on various medium's after its mastered.
