zwan is done. they didnt announce it cause he said he's tired of running around tryin the generate news.

he said his heart was in the pumpkins and it was naive of him to try to start another band to try to find that sort of meaning again. (or somethin like that) and also that there was never enough time to do the things he wanted to do with zwan.

ummm he said hes 36 years old and ready for a solo career.

they hyped to poetry reading

I'm looking forward to BC solo though. Think of all the things he could do.

I would like to see a two disc record, one side completely in-your-face rock n roll sabbath style
+, the other pretty acoustic shit.

What happens to the Zwan catalog? The 80 songs that were played live but never released?

I am going to be royally pissed if he doesn't release some of those songs. I've been hoping for that damn Dijali release too long.

Hopefully he will keep them around since he was the sole author on most of them anyway.

billy: zwan broke up. a couple people asked me, 'why didn't you tell anybody', and im just done with that part of my life of trying to run around and generate news.

-someone asks why they broke up

billy: there isn't enough time here to tell you the whole story. its the same thing that you see on 'behind the music' a thousand times- sex, drugs and rock and roll, and im not having any sex or doing any drugs so you figure it out.

-any plans to put together another band or is it to early?

billy: my heart was really in the smashing pumpkins and when that ended i think it was naive of me to think that i could form something that would mean as much to me. i really enjoyed my time in zwan but at the end of the day without that deep sense of family and loyalty it just becomes like anything else. in some cases i felt that the band members viewed it as something they could decide to do or not to do. and our attitude in the smashing pumpkins was a do or die proposition and thats what got us through all the bad times that we went through, particularly with the pumpkins where you had two band members with serious drug problems. and without that sense of family rock and roll is certainly not worth the trouble. so umm, im ready now... im 36 years old and ready for a solo career.

I don't know why, but I'm really not sad or surprised or upset at all, except that I was really looking forward to hearing the Djali material on an album. I dunno, whenever I hear the Smashing Pumpkins I get this feeling of grandeur (and I never was a big fan--I ended up here through Ryan P.). Whenever I heard Zwan, I just felt queasy. I think his solo work will do the same.

Maybe it's in the name! Yeah, he could just make his solo works under the name Smashing Pumpkins (without the the), and I'll feel better.

I totally agree. I thought it was such an awesome experience getting to see them rock out, in a small venue, front row. I saw them at 2 of the Metro shows and the Aragon show. I've never been to such energetic, concentrated, enjoyable, live shows.

It's funny how at first they proudly announced that Zwan would have a rotating lineup and kind of a 'no strings attached' attitude regarding band members... oh well. You live and learn.

I would've liked to have heard the Djali album and in general believe Zwan had a lot of potential which was simply improperly used... It's a shame we won't get to hear any studio versions of some of their better songs.

I doubt it was James, I think he was referring to Jimmy and Darcy.

But anyways, I saw this coming... hopefully Jimmy will stay, James will come back and realize APC is a drop-in and drop-out band and then get anyone but Paz for bass.

Wait... would that be SP all over again?

Well, if so, I would be fucking game.

I am still unclear of his current objective. Is it to sell records and make money or have fun? I am guessing it is both, if so I recommend reuniting the greatest band of the 90s... or at least get Jimmy and have a similar sound, not some "I love God! Mary loves me!" kind of shit.

i think billy needs to just go away for awhile. drop out of the public eye. grow a comb over. get pissed and lonely. and then bust out all neil young style, with an awesome blues guitar solo album.

i have a recurring fantasy of billy as a blues artist, and i'm ready for it to happen.

I was looking forward to a better 2nd effort by Zwan. It's too bad.

At least we can look forward to a Solo Billy effort. Jimmy is talented no doubt but if Billy goes solo I'd rather see him TRULY seperate from his past & not use Jimmy. If the Boss can get away from the E-Street band Billy can stay away from Jimmy too (also yes, I did love Adore).

Kinda sucks also that Paz left apc to join Zwan (supposedly because of the long downtime between apc records) & now Zwan kicks the bucket.....apc was better imo with the original lineup. James doesn't really fit in (in non musical terms) & Jeordie brings a whole 'goth' baggage.

anyways I guess this is the end so there only 1 thing left...

I don't know. I'm not overly upset about this really. Its like losing a pet that you kept chained up outdoors but never really played with much. Sure, its sad and all, but at the end of the day you're not overly affected by it in your day to day affairs. Granted, I always liked Zwan quite a bit, but the entirety of the past year had made it really hard to be a fan. The first six months of Zwan showed so much promise. They were prolific, edgy, and down to earth to boot. Then sometime along the way someone decided they had to be Smashing Pumpkins lite...and unfortunately they weren't even close.

I feel for Billy in a way, because its looking more and more as though he's not gonna be happy just making music for people who enjoy it. Everything is gonna have to be a fight with the masses. He doesn't care about the people who enjoy what he does, he just wants naysayers to prove wrong. I'm just afraid this trend is gonna lead to him getting frustrated and burning out long before he settles into a successful solo career. I hope I'm wrong though.

But I was excited about what this band could be. There was promise, and, well, good luck to them all. Jimmy and Billy we know will be fine, Paz is off in Pajoland, Pajo is god of Pajoland, and Sweeney.......what the hell will happen to Sweeney?

billy should become an MC. he's halfway there with the spoken word, all he needs is DJ mike garson to hit play on the drum machine on any of his 28 synthesizers and presto. he'd be one of those righteous christian MCs.

isn't it confirmed that bolly is mixing live zwan in a studio? a farewell live zwan CD with a lot of their good unreleased songs would be a perfect note to officially end it on.

and i think the real sad and unexpected news was when paz and pajo left. that and the cancelled tour just killed so much of the momentum that it would've taken something huge to get any excitement about zwan back. after the band just ground to a halt like that, i'm glad they're officially ending.
