anyone else think that billy should've been on the list?

It's an absolute travesty. How the fuck Kurt Cobain makes it on that list, and Billy doesn't is beyond me. Rolling Stone is a shit magazine anyway, but still...someone on that crackpot staff should've mentioned BC.

Any guitarist that has to have "of ______(insert band name here)_____" after their name shouldn't be on that list.

Les Paul invented the fucking LES PAUL and pioneered multi-track recording. He is something like #54. Jack White is #17. Need I say more?

It's not his statement, metal-sludge already used it in their criticism of the list.

it was a list made from fan votes and nothing else.

Kurt Cobain #12....there's a reason why beginner guitarists learn Nirvana songs first.....

I'm surprised that he and jack white, along with some others, are on there but Joe Satrianni, Adrian Legg, and some others aren't.
Oh well.

I just noticed this, but, where the shit is Gossard.

he and Corgan definitely deserve to be SOMEWHERE on that list... especially if Cobain is there

edit: I agree that Satriani should be on there too. guitar GENIUS.

p.s: AND PETRUCCI... Jesus... they missed so many people.

lol.

Adam Jones is most definitely not an amazing guitarist, as much as I love him.

And really, kids, you need to stop getting so worked up over these lists. Geeze.

EDIT: Well, I guess you could say he is amazing if you wanted to. He's just not very...skilled, technically. Yes.

I saw that issue at Barnes & Noble yesterday and I kept flipping through it back and forth sure that I had missed BC. And when I finally realized that he wasn't in there i was like WTF.

How so? If the guitarist is that great, he should be known by who he is. Nobody should have to say Trey Anatasio of Phish.

As for taking that comment from Metal Sludge, I really didn't see it there...but hey, if they used it...great. I'm not the only one that feels that way!

it's bullshit that Jack White is on that list, and Kurt Cobain too. They aren't/weren't even IN TUNE half the fucking time. Better than Eddie Van Halen? Where's Zakk Wylde and Slash? How about James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine? any one of the 3 original Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarists? Angus Young is there, but Malcolm Young is the one who wrote all of AC/DC's riffs.....

Talk about taking from Metal Sludge!!!

That wasn't directly taken, I typed that myself. I thought the same fucking thing. But yeah, me and Sludge think alike sometimes. Hell, I was a Sludgeaholic Of The Month!

I just read the sludge article about 10 minutes ago, and I couldn't agree more. I'm done talking about this RS article though b/c I wasted a good many hours bitching about it at work last week.

Just more proof to support the statement that Rolling Stone is a complete waste of trees.

Billy's a pretty underrated guitarist -- I'm not particularly surprised that he didn't make the list. But, personally, I was much more offended by Eddie Van Halen's extremely low ranking.

I think it's safe to say that 99.9% of guitarists with label deals and airplay are "good guitarists." Jack White is not, by ANY means, a guitarist worthy of that list.
