Travis Meekz 09-06-2003, 12:16 PM I'd spend that 150 if I had it and was in Chicago. I'd also try to stick my finger in his ear the whole time and keep bugging him that Bye June is pure genius.
kevinjboconnor 09-06-2003, 12:44 PM i dont think i'd want to meet him under those conditions
i like the "hi i just waited outside after the show to say good show"
rather than
"hey i just spent $150 to see you you better pretend to talk to me"

How gay. I mean, getting to hang out with Billy for a little while is cool and all, but paying to do it is lameeeee.

Zwan frontman shopping collection of verse
Billy Corgan will give a multi-media performance of his poetry to kick off the Poetry Center of Chicago's thirty-first annual Reading Series on September 17th.
The Zwan frontman joins a list of Poetry Center readers that has, over the years, *******d Saul Bellow, Margaret Atwood, William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and David Mamet. Corgan has assembled a collection of his verse and was recently in New York City to shop it around to book publishers.
Details of the reading are scant, but according to the Poetry Center, Corgan's reading will emphasize "the link between poetry, song lyrics and music."
The event will be held at the Art Institute of Chicago's Rubloff Auditorium and will benefit the Poetry Center of Chicago. Tickets are available through TicketWeb for $35.

Following in Jewel and Ashanti's footsteps, Billy Corgan is also getting in touch with his inner poet. The former Smashing Pumpkins/current Zwan frontman is previewing his forthcoming poetry book next week in Chicago. He's already shopping the collection to New York publishers.
Corgan will open the Poetry Center of Chicago's 31st annual Reading Series, to be held at the Art Institute of Chicago's Rubloff Auditorium. In addition to previewing his verse, Corgan's hour-long performance on Wednesday will ******* a musical component. Organizers of the event said that Corgan wanted to establish a link between poetry, song lyrics and music, but didn't know yet if he'd be playing his own music, or if he would be accompanied.
"We're giving him total artistic license," the Poetry Center's Shirley Stephenson said. "And he said that music will be an important element. We're just not sure how, just yet."
Previous Poetry Center readers have *******d William S. Burroughs, Carlos Fuentes, Allen Ginsberg and David Mamet.
Tickets for the reading cost $35 through TicketWeb, and proceeds benefit the Poetry Center. A post-reading reception will be held at the loft of an art collector in Chicago. For more information, log on to www.poetrycenter.org.
