I'm not saying there aren't any...I just would like to know which ones are. Even a whitebread guy like me can admire this one.

N.E.R.D ' s last album-its around here somewhere..... anyway-i think its equal to Paul's Boutique , just differently.

Does anyone know of a site that lists the samples they used throughout the album? I recognized most of the 70's rock ones but I'm curious to see what some others are (though the list would probably be huge).

It has a very extensive list of all the samples used and is organized very nice. Oh, and in my personal opinion Paul's Boutique is not only the best hip-hop album ever, but also the most underrated hip-hop album ever.

'Dr. Octagonecologyst' is pretty damn good.

Honestly, the only things that came to my head when I saw this thread were Low End Theory, 36 Chambers and Illmatic, but then I figured it was too obvious of a list to post. Subjectively there's so much stuff I like better than the Beasties, but objectively Paul's Boutique is one of the most influential, yadda yadda, hip-hip records.

That album could never be made today, what with the fees one has topay for samples now.. it would simply be too expensive to use as many sample layers as were mixed on that record.

erm, DJ Shadow makes albums that are made up of nothing but samples.

The Avalanches made an album with about 900 samples on it.
