Nimrod's Son 08-14-2003, 04:49 PM They had me with #1, but the Doors? Primus?
Why throw Pat Boone in there, it's not even the right genre.
As most of these usually are... dumb.

Boner 08-14-2003, 05:14 PM - Put in: Grand Funk Railroad, Prodigy
- Take out: The Doors, Paul Okenfold
I'd say Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit should be added to the list, but didn't this magazine name the former the best artist of 2002 or something like that?
And yeah, Primus should be nowhere near there. I suppose the Doors too, although I don't care much for them. Blind Melon isn't a bad band either.
smashingjj 08-14-2003, 05:29 PM worst list ever

And what would be the right genre?
It's just a list put together by a music magazine. Relax, kids.
Nidhogg 08-14-2003, 09:08 PM I like Toad the Wet Sprocket.
Tessellation 08-14-2003, 09:10 PM lists like these are so pointless
Man, Blind Melon doesn't deserve that. The Doors, in all seriousness, shouldn't be on there, but I won't say they don't deserve it. ;)
Harry Kellerman 08-15-2003, 02:28 AM I would've been upset if The Doors didn't make the list. They're the most overrated band in rock and roll. I'm sick of these half-wits saying that Jim Morrison was a genius; he wasn't. He couldn't sing, his most profound statement was "Father? I want to kill you. Mother? I want to fuck you." and he's no longer remembered for his music as much as he was going on stage drunk and stripping.
People in the 60s loved The Doors because everyone was on so many drugs that anybody who started talking about something nobody understood was immediately praised as God (or The Lizard King) for the day. The only reason why The Doors were given any more recognition was because of some overzealous critics who started gushing over their live act. Hadn't that happened I doubt anyone nowadays would listen to the doors, save the few LA hippies that are on a permanent acid trip.

Okay Harry, thanks for the input. Now... how about you shut the fuck up?

I like how you neatly sidestepped the fact that The Doors made timeless, catchy, and orignal music.
Mr. Rhinoceros 08-15-2003, 12:07 PM Of course this magazine is from the editors of Maxim. Only those geeks would be stupid enough to put the Gypsy Kings on the list of the worst artists ever. Ignorant fools.
El Savior 08-15-2003, 12:35 PM PRIMUS?!!?!?!?!?
fuck. that.
Boner 08-15-2003, 12:43 PM I'm gonna state the obvious: They put bands like Primus and The Doors on here to piss people off and be controversial so more people would read and buy the magazine and engage in discussion of the list on internet messageboards.
That said, Primus Sucks.
twilightfadez 08-15-2003, 12:48 PM primus? the doors?
they should put in that list:
britney spears, dream, p. diddly, 50 cent, practically 98% of what is on TRL
noyen 08-15-2003, 12:50 PM why the hell are skinny puppy on this list?

To kill yourself to.
Jim Morrison was the Sideshow Bob of the 60s. He sucked and they sucked. Their music was catchy in a way that most pop music is, repeating melodies over and over that are so bad that you want to take a drill to your skull to release the horrible noises.
With that said, Skinny Puppy was a great band. I dig those horrible noises.
twilightfadez 08-15-2003, 01:36 PM i forgot to add:
Jewel
:hurl:

You know what's catchy about The Doors?
Two words:
Strange Days.
Netphorian Gadabout 08-15-2003, 02:21 PM I must really, really love bad music, because when Primus announced their reunioun tour the other day, I nearly got fired from work ofr excessive fistpumping and screaming.
Screw that list.

I sincerely hope that I'm not the only one who got that.

I was wondering the same thing, actually. you beat me to it.
netphoria sucks 08-15-2003, 10:02 PM Add to the list:
Warrant
Rush
Zwan
Remove:
Skinny Puppy
"Too Dark Park" absolutely ruled on high.
Agreed:
Primus - sucks huge balls. Les Claypool plays phenomenal bass but can't write a song for shit.
sawdust restaurants 08-16-2003, 01:31 AM The problem with this list is that while most of these bands suck, they're nowhere near the worst bands of all time. I mean, I think Primus is pretty lousy, but the 22nd worst band of all time? Christ, I could think of 22 bands that've come out with albums in the last two months who are worse. And as much as I dislike the Doors and think they were primarily bad for rock (we've had this discussion, though), "Light My Fire" alone should keep them off this list.

You must admit that Les Claypool makes the bass his bitch.
I think we should discuss who should be on this list. I nominate the Eagles.
Ihaman 08-16-2003, 03:22 AM i second that nomination.
my nomination = WAR
alisonmonster 08-16-2003, 03:31 PM i think #1 was correct. Why they didn't ******* Good Charlotte on there i don't know.
Styx should be up there at the top - and Flock of Seagulls

I meant Primus Sucks in the good way- as in what they used to say at their shows and I think that's even the title of their live cd "suck on this" or soemthing. I like Primus, especially after a blunt or some bowls.

Bah...I was hoping you wouldn't go right out and explain it.
NegativeSleep 08-16-2003, 11:50 PM what's their beef with yanni?
the fact that he has underwear model-esque photos of himself on every album cover is one thing, but he has some decent songs.
his 'live at acropolis' cd is fantastic. fuck the haters.
yanni forever.
As I think someone already said, this was obviously done for humor purposes. Calm the fuck down, yo.
NegativeSleep 08-16-2003, 11:58 PM I'm just using this as an excuse to spread the yanni love.
I seldom take these rankings without a grain of salt.
NewFreshness 08-17-2003, 12:08 AM Manowar- None more metal. None more gay.
Though I have no respect for Blender, I must give props to that.

His drummer on that album is Charlie Adams, who Jimmy was a student of for a couple years I believe.
