View Full Version : who's the most melancholic french_rap_sucks 07-28-2003, 04:30 PM and don't let album titles affect your decision. THRILLHO 07-28-2003, 05:01 PM morrissey. his voice instantly makes me want to kill myself. shaniqua 07-28-2003, 05:13 PM i'd say morrissey. robert smith draws most of his song ideas from books. billy is more bitter than melancholic anymore. thom just seems more uncomfortable than anything else. James is Cool 07-28-2003, 06:04 PM You both are completely right. I have nothing more to add to this thread. Injektilo 07-28-2003, 06:28 PM when I first read this title I thought it said Melodic... anyway, I only own Disintigration by the Cure, and a bunch of random Smiths mp3s, but based on disintegration I'd say robert smith. Though maybe melancholic isn't the right word. Shane the Pane 07-28-2003, 08:54 PM Morrissey, yo. Lie 07-28-2003, 11:34 PM Out of those four, Morrissey is the least likely to kill himself. By a long shot. And I don't know about melancholic, but Billy Corgan is definitely the saddest at this point. Nimrod's Son 07-29-2003, 04:43 AM The weird thing is I would rank them in the same order for my like for them and for their being less melancholy: 4. Corgan 3. Yorke 2. Smith 1. Morrissey Boycott Graceland 07-29-2003, 04:48 AM Originally posted by THRILLHO morrissey. his voice instantly makes me want to kill myself. i agree. i saw a cute girl at a record store today, then i saw that she had a smiths t-shirt on. i was thought, "fuck," and i walked off. Dude, suicidal chicks are put out! I mean, why not what do they have to lose? Boycott Graceland 07-29-2003, 05:48 AM Originally posted by Nimrod's Son Dude, suicidal chicks are put out! I mean, why not what do they have to lose? yeah...but it's like having sex with morrisey, in a way. :erm spring 07-29-2003, 06:39 AM Originally posted by shaunna i'd say morrissey. robert smith draws most of his song ideas from books. billy is more bitter than melancholic anymore. thom just seems more uncomfortable than anything else. very well said! Oh, and Boycott Graceland, all the Smiths fans I know are fragile, pretty much suicidal, individuals, but they're also VERY nice and sensitive people :) (myself *******d :D ) so don't let that be a turn off. jenniferkate 07-29-2003, 08:02 AM Originally posted by shaunna i'd say morrissey. robert smith draws most of his song ideas from books. songs like "doing the unstuck" rule robert smith out too -- he's such a perkygoth. jenniferkate 07-29-2003, 08:06 AM Originally posted by Lie Out of those four, Morrissey is the least likely to kill himself. maudlin and full of self-pity, sure, but way too vain to ever do anything like that. i voted for him though, because the others just don't quite fit the bill either. shaniqua 07-29-2003, 09:53 AM Originally posted by jenniferkate songs like "doing the unstuck" rule robert smith out too -- he's such a perkygoth. ee! KIK OUT THE GLOOM! KIK OUT THE BLUEZ! TEAR OUT THE PAGES WITH ALL THE BAAAD NEWZ! :D okay, i just had to put on that song. yeah really. he may have disintegration, faith and pornography on him, but he's also got half of wild mood swings, wish, some songs on kiss me x3 and the head on the door that really rule him out. oh and the catepillar! tee hee! <3 smitty. El Savior 07-29-2003, 10:04 AM iwentwithrobbysmith. smashingjj 07-29-2003, 10:04 AM I won't vote for Thom Yorke. I think it's a bit too easy to call Yorke's voice just melancholic. Descibing his singing that way would be like describing SP as just loud. jenniferkate 07-29-2003, 10:22 AM Originally posted by shaunna ee! KIK OUT THE GLOOM! KIK OUT THE BLUEZ! TEAR OUT THE PAGES WITH ALL THE BAAAD NEWZ! :D okay, i just had to put on that song. it's a perfect day for kiss and swell for rip-zipping button-popping kiss and well there's loads of other stuff can make you yell let's get happy! oh man im going to be bouncing around to this all day. so much for the melancholy tone of this thread! shaniqua 07-29-2003, 12:17 PM there's also the love factor; smitty's been with the same girl since he was 13, b0lly seems to have been in a couple of tumultulous relationships and thom is married and has a toddler. has steve-o ever been in love? :( you know what'd be a better poll? who's the biggest drama queen of these 4! i'd say it's a toss-up between corgan and the moz. mirrar 07-29-2003, 12:24 PM moz by a mile. jenniferkate 07-29-2003, 01:33 PM Originally posted by shaunna you know what'd be a better poll? who's the biggest drama queen of these 4! i'd say it's a toss-up between corgan and the moz. :D i was thinking the same thing earlier. that and who's got the most inflated ego. Lie 07-29-2003, 02:21 PM You guys are all on crack. Lie 07-30-2003, 01:55 AM I associate Morrissey's persona as a performer with fun and sarcasm more than anything else. Intentionally melodramatic, sure. But melancholic? I don't care what the majority of his nitwit fans think. He's the least brooding of any of the above because he overplays the depressed act with ridiculous thoroughness so as to belittle its actual importance. If Morrissey makes you want to kill yourself you're giving him way too much credit. |
