jeremy enigk's album return of the frog queen is really pretty and worth picking up as well - dl explain.

i like this band. I don't think all their stuff is golden, but i like most.

rising tide and the pink album are my favs.

Because of the way they progressed, probably the best way to familiarize yourself with them would be chronologically. I think the earlier stuff, like Diary, is the best. Anything else I could say has already been said in this thread.

How It Feels to Be Something On is far and away their best album. Get it. And then get Diary, I guess; I don't think it's that great but a lot of people think it's their best (as you can tell).

I don't think they ever put out a bad album but I agree with the majority, Diary is definitely a good place to start.
