Are you illiterate or just plain fucking dumb, Marlon? Marlon Brando 07-27-2003, 06:01 AM he didnt say pumpkins in the title... and then in his message he said pumpkins of course, which i thought was referring to HIS choice of course would be something from the pumpkins. his questions should be more clear.. ussually when someone asks me what my fav song is i will answer, not having to guesse if they mean by what band. Marlon Brando 07-27-2003, 06:13 AM in that case its glass and the ghost children... glass doing a complete 180 from zero... i want to live dont want to die... and speaking to me, one of the ghost children, dna is reaching out to my frequency... a song of hope and triumph as glass saves june and asks us to believe in him cuz god is with him..and then his over rightiousness leads to junes death.. .. and the song becomes dark and cold as he laments june's death, the one he had pined for his whole life is gone... realizing she was too far gone.. too many spiders had crawled up inside her, she had wasted her soul with drugs and whoring in an effort to escape her emptiness.... and he was foolish to think he could have saved her... to me thats my fav pumpkins song and as a pumpkins fan its very personal and revealing of both the machines of god and myself. also age of innocence for the way the end is unflinchingly delivered to me by someone obviously stronger then I .. who can handle the end, who has come to a greater understanding.... wheras i as the ghost children are left to try and reach that same level of acceptence...to be able to destroy all fears and sentimentality and away with everything that holds me safe... in order to live for the moment and future and to no longer be held back by past abuses towards me. glass and the ghost children is the best song but age of innocence is one too painfull and too hard to listen to me that i often cant without being hurt the rest of the day... because im not strong enough to get through my troubles the way glass was... and it rememinds me of that. so maybe cuz its so goodi cant even listen to it.. that age of innocence is my fav. ever. However, if that soothing part at the end wasn't there, I'd have to say Martha. One thing I love about Smashing Pumpkins songs is their incredible ability to be loud and distorted and ugly one minute, and then quiet and controlled and beautiful the next. Martha does a great job of doing that, with that beautiful grand piano leading up to those layers of electric guitar, and then falling back into that peaceful reversed-track riff. But I think Ruby, overall, is just... cooler. One of my friends thinks that the intro to Ruby is the best intro of any song he as ever heard, and SP isn't even his favorite band. :) smashingjj 07-28-2003, 08:20 AM For Martha ava transformer 07-28-2003, 08:32 AM i'm gonns have to say "Apathy's Last Kiss" Netphorian Gadabout 07-28-2003, 09:23 AM Pennies, although Try Try Try (alt.) might be a close second.
