my fucking 2002 saturn with less than 23 thousand miles on it.

why, you ask?

well, before i went to CT last weekend to see my boyfriend- i took the car to jiffy lube for an oil change.

jiffy lube forgot to put oil in my car.

assholes.

on my way to class this morning, the thing died.

LAWSUIT4ME?

yikes, no oil? your engine is prolly ruined forever. you didn't hear the engine working hella louder than usual as a warning before it broke down?

yeah um, sue their ass off if you can prove it.

lol...my music was too loud.

then it vibrated, sputtered and died. i had to turn it over 4 times to get it to start so i could move it to the side of the road.

when i got the oil change (last tuesday) i was driving around and my oil light switched on. i took the car back to jiffy lube and asked them to re-check the oil. they said they remembered putting oil into the car. he switched off my oil lights.

i had no idea. thank god i wasn't on a highway.

and yeah...my engine is probably fucked. i know. but it's not my fault. it's jiffy's fault. so...jiffy can get my ass a new car.

oh yeah, my battery light (along with the second oil light) and the service engine light went on as well...

if anyone is a gearhead and can explain that to me...please do.

since my friend died when her car stalled out- and i got a panic attack that i was gunna die- can i get more money?

unless you were actually physically injured, i'd say you were pushing it.

That's why I work on my own car, I don't trust people, people make mistakes.

Yeah, you should definately do something about that, though. I'm sure you could get something for it.

okay i just asked one of the attorneys
what you need to do first, is talk to the oil place and inform them of what happened, they might offer to pay for all damages

if they dont:

contact your local "small claims court", which handles cases of that sort under $10,000
search online or in your phone book and call your loca courthouse and they will give you the info...or sometimes they have websites and will give you step by step info on what to do

so you have a major chance and right to get that fuck up repaired

good luck!!! let us know what you do
:)

Maybe if I turn on this last one, she'll realize I'm about to melt and pull over. Chicks understand batteries. Just look what's in her underwear drawer.

My car broke down a few days ago too. Some sort of cable in the clutch snapped or something.

The exact same thing happened to my 97 saturn... the place I went to change my oil forgot to put it back in... a week later, I double checked it (the oil light didn't come on) and it was completely empty... so I filled it back up, and then a month later the head on my car cracked and had to be replaced... $6000 bucks later... blah. But my warranty covered most of it.

I'm sorry though, it really sucks. I really hope that doesn't happen to your car, it's a bitch and a half.

I know, but they still suck. So does my car, its a pontiac sunfire. They are all cheaply made, mass-produced-in-Mexico, plastic crap-mobiles.

i love my car.

and all cars are mostly plastic now. they're plastic with a metal frame. the plastic actually absorbs most of the impact in accidents which make it safer.

the dealership just called...and they fixed it. thankfully nothing blew cause i was smart enough to pull the hell over and not keep driving. i can pick it up in like 10 minutes when i get a ride. yayay! hopefully i'll be ok during my six hour drive to long island tomorrow (i moved upstate NY)... heh.

in other news...my day continues to suck as my great-aunt is about to die and my grandmother (her sister) is a wreck as there will only be 2 siblings left out of 12 when tina goes.

funerals in my family blow. the old people throw themselves on top of the corpses. i just got a new boyfriend 3 months ago, i don't want him to know how strange we are just yet... :erm

i'm sorry, guys, but i just don't get it. how can it be that you guys were driving around without oil in your car for sometimes days at a time, yet still no one noticed??
don't you guys ever listen to your cars? something like having no oil makes your engine knock incredibly loud. but... maybe i'm the only one around here who actually listens to my car whenever i shut it on or off, for at least the first and last two minutes of driving.

i was thinking the same thing, along with the difference in how it was driving (it's not like you can't feel THAT) and the whole.. all your warning lights are going on thing (even though you did take it back.. still.. i mean..)

I can't hear my car making any noises because I have radio or tape on loud.
A separate note though. I despise car mechanics and lawyers but since I can't fix a car and I can't represent myself...well I guess I can I'd probably plea guilty.

My warning lights weren't on. When I took it to J.L. the second time, I told them that I didn't think there was oil in the car- the guy said that he remembered putting it in and there was no problem. So- he opened my hood and turned off the oil warning lights.

My car wasn't knocking. It was running a littler harsher than useual, it was a little louder than useual, I attributed it to the rain. It only knocked when it broke down.... the other warning light (battery light) didn't go on at all until the car died.

It's okay now though....hurray

The car may have had the oil drained but just as in the commercials, it bonds to the engines surface and will be able to keep it running ok for days....probably a week (not recommended :p). The morning/day she brokedown however, you'd expect there to be something noticeable going on.

I'm sure the battery light issue was when it brokedown, which is just the system check when the car is in the on position w/ the engine not started.
