(I don't care if this was already discussed, I wasn't here.)

their worst effort by far. tremendous drop-off in creativity and songwriting.

I'm just happy the local DJs have something else to play other than "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" every 15 fucking minutes.

it's crazy how when a band explodes the indie geeks feel the need to declare their hate and say that "the latest album, the one on the NME cover, sucks! they have gone downhill! their worst efforto so far!"

it makes me see how limited, silly and fake the indie freaks are

to Julio: latest White Stripes album is astonishingly good. I'm not into new-garage, I hate plastic like BRMC and The Strokes, but man, this album really REALLY rocks

the Bacarach cover's absolutely amazing
...and I guess you trust my musical opinion more than the one of this idiot, right?

Aw but me and Ryan Patrick are music soul mates  So I'll just change my response to "no comment."

they exploded with their last album, kid. which was decent, but had too many sub-par songs to be a great record.

i decided that Elephant was a disappointment long before Seven Nation Army was on the radio, they were on magazine covers, and got 5 stars (gag!) in Rolling Stone.

and i still love their first 2 albums, it's not like they suddenly got bad because the band is popular. it's just that their new material is so much more boring.

so get over yourself, k?

The lyrics are far worse than on White Blood Cells, but it stands up better as a whole album. The songs play well off of eachother, and there aren't any ruts.
Meh, I don't know anything about music. It just sounds pretty damn good.
My ranking goes:
The White Stripes
Elephant
De Stijl
White Blood Cells
However, this is probably due to the fact that I've heard White Blood Cells 80000X and am tired of it. Who cares. Whatever. I don't give a shit. Whatever.

It's not horrible, but it isn't all that great, either. Very hit and miss, in my opinion. The good songs are very good, the blah songs are very blah.

No, that's, "If you don't like America, get out."

But this one's pretty bad, too.

god, i love the album. i can't stop listening to it. i don't see how people think it's boring or a disappointment compared to their old stuff. it's more diverse for starters. the lyrics are darker and more oblique and thematic than they've ever been. their dynamic range is so much huger than ever before. the drumming has improved. it's the first of their albums with sexy songs. it's not really just my opinion, all of these things are pretty obvious...

and plus, it's their first record that stands for something. they cheaply threw together an old-fashioned analog album in 2 weeks and are right up there on the charts with linkin park. sure, seven nation army is kinda bland compared to anything on de stijl, but it makes a kickass solid catchy rock radio track. they're in a class by themselves. it's probably the first notable commerical and possibly cultural accomplishment any of the "new garage" bands have done yet.

i want to see some evidence. respected movie critics... have they made blockbuster movies? no.

sports commentators... this isn't always true, but there are a lot of commentators that have never played the sport professionally.

Really reminded me of Zepplin.

Of course it is not nearly as good as Zepplin but I am just saying that his voice sounds sort of similar and so does the basic sound.

Meh.. ok album. 3 stars out of 5 from me.
