No, what's sad is thinking five minutes of fucking guitar distortion is better than an actual fucking good song that millions of people liked. What's also sad is when people hate songs just because they become singles and get popular.

You're right. It is a good song. What I meant was that it's not nearly as good as Tonight, Tonight. Minutes and minutes of feedback can be interesting... cool... but Tonight Tonight is solid all the way through.

Tonight, Tonight is pretentious as hell, overproduced, and while it has its moment, is just your typical theatrical rock song. it was never one of the best songs on the album, not before it was a single, not after. i think 1979 is the best song on the album. GEE I HATE THE POPULAR SINGLES OMG.
Drown isn't pretentious, it's just a song. and it's good. it's emotive. blah blah blah. you guys don't know shit about music.
