View Full Version : lame guitar chords
THRILLHO 03-24-2003, 11:55 PM you know when the top two strings on the third fret are droned on over various first position chords? those chords suck.
i think <font face="Courier New">

VegasPumpkin 03-25-2003, 12:11 AM that second chord is a great chord if you don't play the low string.
the lames guitar chord: the power chord

this isn't really supposed to be knee-slap worthy. maybe gigglesnort-worthy at best, if you're drunk. it's stupid, yet i also do actually think the chords sound lame.

5 - 5 - 5
7 - 7 - 5
6 - 5 - 6
7 - 7 - 7
5 - 5 - 5
I don't know names but I like those three forms they sound purty
Cretin Soup 03-25-2003, 09:36 AM I've always found this to be rather lame but also self mockingly comical...we call it the "chord of evil" and it always generates a laugh when some cunt plays it in the middle of a song at practice.

MachinaMan 03-25-2003, 04:31 PM if you are basing a song around the chord, of course the chord could be bad.
if you are basing a song on the song, than i dont think any chord can really"suck".
all in arrangement and taste.

and STP manages to use the chord of evil:

nicely in the song "Sin". But STP uses alot of weird chords.
Thoughtless 03-25-2003, 10:55 PM and i'm not too fond of using an open low string, and having an octave for the minor triad. with major triads it sounds really cool (IE: Cherub Rock), but i just never really liked it with minor triads played like that. example:
x
x
12
x
10

deftones tend to do it alot in dropped d (then down a whole step), like at the beginning of change.

i don't really mind it that much when i'm listening to a song with it, but i just can find no use for it when i'm playing.

Unfortunately, I forgot about the Asus2 :( It is in there, at the end, but only for the 3rd-fret extravaganza. And thanks for the guitar compliment, but I think you're a little better than me (I'm going by the Be My Fans solo which is np in my head). I'll tell you one thing, I almost put a country falsetto-style 'THRILL.... HOOOOOOO!' at the end, so you got off lucky this time
Nidhogg, I'm imagining a tuned-down industrial metal Rammstein tribute, with chugging guitars punctuated by burly men chanting 'NID! HOGG!' But that sounds like it requires more effort than sitting at the computer mic and talking crap for 3 minutes. Maybe we should start a netphorian tribute album. BEST CONCEPT ALBUM EVER. Mark can handle any J-pop requirements

Man, I can totally imagine big hairy Germans screaming my name...er...
You don't happen to fit that profile by any chance, do you?
:p
*whips out bass*
*prepares funky bassline for Netphoria tribute album*
