fuzzy, what i find unfortunate about this thread is that you feel so trapped in your persona that you wish to erase your username - i'm assuming, so that people will take you as you are and not be quick to judge you by your reputation. i thought about doing the same thing during various times in my netpho history, so i can definitely relate.

but i just don't think changing accounts will help you do that. you really can start over if you wish to, and it would take an attitude adjustment from some of the people who torch you regardless of what you say, but it doesn't take any wiping of your history. as long as you keep 'accommodating it' and not face it head on it'll just continue being the same thing, albeit perhaps in different forms.

I actually think fuzzy's dumbassery is mostly by choice even if he's not entirely cognizant of it. He's insecure and clearly didn't receive enough positive attention as a child, so he's constantly overcompensating, trying to project some kind of obnoxious swaggering hot shot straight shooter kind of image. He attaches himself to political and social views because of how he thinks they define him, not based on how those views actually affect other people in the outside world. His love of characters like Axl Rose and Donald Trump (and I use the word characters with great purpose) makes total sense because they embody the same kind of character fuzzy tries to build for himself. He's willing to look past how awful these dudes are because they project a sense of "bigness" and "masculinity," whereas fuzzy feels small and emasculated.

fuzzy likes learning though and is interested in the world around him. he does seem to spend a lot of time reading and researching. unfortunately, he just has poor critical thinking skills because the education system failed him. compounded with his personality issues that make him very ego-focused and defensive and a seeker of negative attention when positive attention is not readily available, whatever innate intelligence and curiosity he has tends to be totally wasted on horseshit escapist fantasies that make the world more palatable for him. fuzzy could apply his interests and willingness to read and research in positive ways, he just chooses not to because his agenda is mostly ego protection.

yes. use gmail/hotmail/yahoo. waaaaaaaaay too much spam account registrations from gmx domains for the number of actual users that it wasn't worth it to allow. gmail gets a metric fuckton of spam registrations, too, but with so many real users having them we can't really feasibly block that email domain.

once registered, the admin approval process that has to occur before one is allowed to post is to keep spam off the board. remember when there was a ton of spam posts? remember how that magically stopped one day? well, there you go. until andrew or someone decides to update the board software, this is probably how it's going to be.

the trade off is that sometimes new users have to wait for approval because i'm not here every day and i'm still the only one that routinely does anything behind the scenes here anymore. if i turned off approval, the board would be covered in spam. 99% of new registrations from the last few years have been spam accounts. even with the news of the reunion, there have been 36 legit new, approved registrations in 2 months. prior to that, there was 50 in two years, and some of those were 2nd/3rd/19th accounts.

so could we potentially be turning people away because of certain email domains, like burner email sites, being blocked during registration? yes. is it a lot? doubtful.

If you understood back end servers and language compatibilities, you'd understand. It's better to keep what is working currently than to upgrade and have to fix.... a ton of incompatibilities.
