Can anyone make out anything?

here's a rough draft. it's really tough to hear

____________

Is love a fool?
A brackish goad
A textured life
A lilac cove
Becomes, by the breath, of the sun
Muted and diffused again

While the winds, so sired, so subdued
_________, whoever laughs, it's a ruin
And regret

Surely I've a lacking peace
I get tired
I just get tired

Fleur-de-lis, no blessed or bleach
Nonst the wise
I just got tired
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

40 years to finally wake up, and 9 more to sling these snakes out of you

Rich the pink
That steel con flame
A flint of luck
Miscast my chance
There's one
Goes out the days
Troll dance
Triumph after triumph dashed

What's so sure as fire and the moon?
The stranger calls my view
Making good on their promise and their youth

Pure, please, oh I can't reach
I get tired
I just get tired

Fleur-de-lis, no blessed or bleach
Nonst the wise
I just got tired
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

40 years to finally wake up, and 9 more to sling these snakes out of you

Along the flail to you
Among the way to you
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

Here is what I hear
______________

Is love a fool?
A brackish goad
Protected like
A lilac cove
Becomes by the breath of the sun
Too muted and diffused
Again

And while the winds, so sired, so subsumed
Forbade this day by rule
To ever lapse into ruin
And regret

Julienne (?), oh I can't quit
I get tired
I just get tired

Cause Fleur-de-lis, noblesse oblige (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noblesse_oblige)
constant-wise
I just got tired
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

40 years to finally wake up
and 9 more to sling the snakes out of you

Richly pink
That steel poem flame
A flint of luck
Miscasts my chance
There's one
Days after days
Troll dance
Triumph after triumph
Dashed

What's the chambers fire (?) and the moon?
The stranger cause my appeal
Making good on their promise and their youth

Pured (?), please, oh I can't preach
I get tired
I just get tired

Cause Fleur-de-lis, noblesse oblige
Constant-wise
I just got tired
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

40 years to finally wake up
And 9 more to sling the snakes out of you

Along the flail to you
Among the way to you
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

This tune definitely gives me some of those classic Corgan feels

Is love a fool?
a brackish goad
Protected like
A lilac cove
Becomes by the breath of the sun
demuted and diffused
Again

And while the winds (he went?), so sired, so subsumed
Forbade this (his?) day by rule
To ever lapse into ruin
And regret

Juliet, oh I can't crease
I get tired
I just get tired

Cause Fleur-de-lis, noblesse oblige
down to the wires (?)
I just got tired
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

40 years to finally wake up
and 9 more to sling the snakes out of you

Richly pink
That steel poem flam
A flint of luck
Miscast my chance
As one
Does after days
a droll dance
Triumph after triumph
Dashed

Words that churned passed fire and the moon
The stranger crossed my view (or - they strained across my view)
Making good on their promise and our youth

Purity (?), please, oh I can't preach
I get tired
I just get tired

Cause Fleur-de-lis, noblesse oblige
down to the wires (?)
I just got tired

Along the flail to you
Among the way to you
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

40 years to finally wake up
And 9 more to sling the snakes out of you

Along the flail to you
Among the way to you
Along the flail to you
Among the way to you

also some of the "among"s (or all) might be "i'm on"
also flail = flame maybe?

It's definitely "denuded" in the first verse

I actually had to listen to both the album and the live version to get some of those lyrics. He definitely doesn't sing "down the wire", and I'm almost sure he says something like "quit" live, it's on the second verse tho.

ok, the live version definitely makes it sound like "flame" and "i'm on the way"

Funny how people hear things differently; listening to the live version I definitely hear "down to the wires" and "crease" (which imperfectly rhymes with oblige)

by gosh i think you're right

ok here's my final guess with all the input. i think "purity" is wrong but idk what he's saying. also 'the stranger crossed my view' might be 'they strained across my view' or something

probably my fav track off the album so far

redbreegull

yeah this one is the best track. I am tempted to say this is a very good or possibly even great song. is that too audacious?

reprise85
10-09-2017, 09:13 AM
the vocals hold it back a bit, and old BC would have had some kind of interesting bridge or other addition to the song. for that reason I don't think it's a great song. but it is very good. imo of course

the "49 years" stop-strum moment is super cheeseball, though.

gives it that third eye blind radio song vibe

Yeah I agree

Really? Third eye blind? I think it's very country/americana.

yeah I agree with this

I am tempted to say this is a great song. The vibe is somewhere in between DIA and an acoustic MCIS era tune. Love the mellotron. I think the melody is great and he pushes his voice to really get there.

pinwheels was genuinely pretty good

everything else was trash

Panopticon's opening is the only part of the whole album that I can instantly recall and IMO the standout track. Closest that the album comes to trying to kick a bit of ass. I'll never stop wondering what that would have sounded like if Jimmy was behind the kit.

Quasar is just inoffensive and kind of there.

Ram27

oceania would be really good with james and jimmy c

but that's like saying my depression would be cured if i could be with her

it's pointless to hope

reprise85

the drumming on oceania is not nearly the worst part. byrne sounds fine mostly. it's completely uninspired shit. only songs that are remotely good are oceania and i guess pinwheels and pale horse.

it's better than monuments because he was at least trying a little

Glissandra, Pinwheels, Inkless, Wildflower are the only tracks I liked on Osh.
The whole Siamese-facsimile, bombastic opening run of tracks are totally forgettable noise.
