Laughter is a soothing force that only applies to human beings. It's the one thing that sets us apart from most of the animal kingdom. No other mammals express the healing joy of laughter.

Except maybe monkeys. I think they laugh sometimes when they're clowning around.

Some people argue that Dolphins laugh too. Sure, they make a laugh like sound, but I don't think it's the same emotional release.

laughing is probably an evolutionary mechanism to relieve social tension or something along those lines, so it makes sense we aren't the only animals who experience something like laughing. I'm not sure laughing itself is really an emotion either
