I don't care for Blurred Lines. But the lesser known Robin Thicke track in the case "Love After War" is a really good song. Apparently that one rips off the Gaye song "After the Dance."

IMO the only reason marvin gaye wants that money is because he hasn't written a hit since the 70s. it has nothing to do with plagiarism

they definitely have the exact same groove, i dunno about the melodies and stuff, didn't seem as clear to me as sam smith "stay with me" / tom petty "i won't back down", which is definitely plagiarism (accidental or otherwise)

Yeah, i heard that Sam Smith song at my work and I started singing Won't back down right away.

Anyhow, Pretty shitty for Thicke. Guys a 1 hit wonder so the lawsuits gonna wipe him out of any of his fortunes. Oh well, at least his old mans loaded.

its very clear to me like three girl rhumba by wire compared to the connection by elastica (the original post punk cover band?)

Thicke is not a one hit wonder. This isn't even his only top 40 crossover hit. Lost Without You was a big hit for him some years back. And then he also has several songs that were big on black radio.

Yeah I do like that one a lot. Probably his best song. The guitars on that one almost have a Spanish feel to them. It's a nice chill mellow song.

I imagine the money he gets from Lost Without You should keep him going for a while.

Speaking of Sam Smith did you guys know that PartyNextDoor sampled Latch for his song Sex on the Beach?

black radio.

Now scuse my ignorance, is this really a thing in the USA or is CW being casually racist again?

usually hear what catherine wheel's probably referring to being called "hip hop and r&b radio" but BET is a thing so who knows what's goin on in the other states

Catherine Wheel

Yeah it's stations with an all black staff that exclusively play R&b and hip hop.

the lyrics are awful and misogynistic but i'll admit the song is catchy as fuck.

the lyrics are stupid but they say a fuck of a lot more about the current "sensitivity" of people to anything even remotely related to matters of sex & or politcal correctness than the artists themselves
