Any recommendations? I was getting into drum and bass and dubstep years back when I lived in da city, but never really became familiar with specific artists.

I loved Pendulum's 'Hold Your Colour' album, but that's an obvious one. Who should I check out? I love the song "Scary Monsters..." by Scrillex but I'm not fussed on anything else I've heard of his.

I think you'd fit in well over at 4Chan - you could tell people to "become an hero" or "die in a fire," or whatever the latest witty put-downs are. Give it a go if you haven't already.

.

might be a good album choice to get back into dnb.

4hero, LTJ Bukem - especially the Logical Progression sets, Lamb... and hm, 1/4 of the label catalogue of K7 Records.

don't know if you're familiar with LTJ Bukem at all, so not sure if this is a direction you'd like

Thank you. LTJ Bukem was someone I listened to a fair bit but I wouldn't have remembered him; that whole time was a bit of a blur

it's odd, I "was over" dnb and that whole thing for years, then realized I still enjoy dancing to this stuff, and now I love it as driving soundtrack, and while cooking.

maybe that's not odd at all but simply getting old? who cares, 4hero still rule.

p.s.: fuzzy, if you intend to shit on dnb in this thread, I'll piss on your rug, and then try to drown you in the puddle.

I think we all go through phases, not necessarily linked to aging. I know I do

pavementtune
01-05-2015, 10:16 AM
sure, but phases after other phases after phases... - is getting old, isn't it?
or not, I feel old today, excuse me while I rip out another silver shiny hair.

fucking trainee, 19 years old, just told me I belong in a museum because jazz is "so last century." then I look on her ipod and it's fucking Avicii.
sure, let's listen to Avicii at work, why not, I'd be ready to die by noon.

I don't listen to DnB much at home (but I do at clubs, I mean, when I used to go to clubs), except some of these

I actually like dub-step. Skrillex is pretty awesome. I don't know a whole lot about the genre, but it's fun to listen to at clubs or raves.

Drum and bass would be a lot better if it was ACTUALLY just a (real) bass and (real) drums.

But then again probably not, it would probably be some guy slapping away to some jazzy drumming.

Pretty sure it is, but I only ever dabbled in 2009, and only for a short while. The whole "boxxy" thing was going on and I found it all pathetic. I'd guess it's still full of death threats and whatnot but I've no intention of looking.

Anyway, telling someone on a message board to off themselves is even older than saying, "Go back to 4Chan!"

i was at one of my local stores tonight and for some reason they've started separating alternative/indie records with a metal/punk records even though there is a ridiculous amount of crossover and lots of records anyone could easily take from one section and put in the other. most of it aside from the classics are completely arbitrary decisions (probably based on distributor), as far as the punk section goes.

anyway, i thought to myself it had been a while since i actually flipped through the punk/metal stacks and i made it like 8 letters in until i was sick to death of seeing all of these reissues of fuzzyrose-esque bands i couldn't even finish.

there could have been something amazing in the r-t section but i would never know . i was just revealing way too much terrible music back to back to justify the random good records that didn't belong there. i think it was either seeing a dozen me first and the gimme gimmies or nofx records that did me in.

i think at best we could hope to turn fuzzyroes into a crustpunk. or a scumpunk would be p. coo.

Never bothered to seek them out so I'm not sure if I've heard them or not. Choking Victim sounds familiar though.

I'm mostly into poppier punk... Stuff like SNFU, Vandals, NOFX etc
