tracks 9-11 of mine are the only thing really questionable as far as i'm concerned, in the sense that i feel like tibes could go to track 10 with that's the way being at 9 & then dorian coming in for one & all

these are important things to consider in the crafting of a choice CD-R

Looking at all these songs makes me realize that Billy still continued to write some damn good songs under SP post 2000 breakup despite what most Netphorians seem to wanna think.

Surprised to see Come On (Let's Go) on lists. That has always summed up the worst of the post-breakup SP's to me. Average lyrics and melody when they were still very good. A lazy song when a lot of work was still obvious in most album material.

There's no way in hell one can create a "perfect" Pumpkins-album with SP2 (or SP3) songs, but you could make an alright 8/10 album if you included:

*7 shades of black
*Tom Tom
*Tiberius
*Doomsday Clock (mainly for the drums obviously)
*One and all
*Monuments
*Bring The Light
*Starz
*Anti-hero
*The Chimera

I think it's a bit of a cheat to ******* live only songs, or "song x IF they had.." type selections. Just go with what we have.

"(Come On) Let's Go" is far from a great song, but it fits the sound and vibe Billy seemed to be going for with Zeitgeist, the vocals actually work with the song, and it is a fun straight ahead rocker not pretending to be anything else. I would say it's head and shoulders above the majority of Oceania or Monuments to an Elegy.

For some reason I had the impression everyone hated "Starz" so it's strange to see it on so many lists, but fuck that's a good song

I recently started listening to Zeitgeist again after... however many years it's been since that came out, and I'm astonished to find I like the majority of the songs, which was not at all my opinion back then

I'd try to post a list but I honestly cannot remember how a single Teargarden/Oceania song goes, and I'm gonna give it a few more listens but I don't think I like any MTAE song all the way through

ive always thought that the SP2 albums (particularly Zeit and MTAE) pale badly compared to SP1 albums, but there are good moments that feel almost like they should be called "Smashing Pumpkins"...

can you make a compilation album of SP2 material that could function as an actual good "Smashing Pumpkins album" that can stack up to the original band's output?

here's my stab at it.
01 Tarantula
02 That's the Way
03 The Celestials
04 Freak
05 The Rose March
06 United States
07 Drum + Fife
08 A Stitch in Time
09 Quasar
10 Superchrist
11 One and All
12 Stellar
13 Pinwheels
14 Sunkissed

When I tried making an alternate Zeitgeist track listing I had track 1 and 2 be Tarantula and That's the Way, respectively. Tarantula is a strong opener and introduction to the album, and it flows nicely into That's the Way. It's like what Quiet is to Cherub Rock, it just feels like it's supposed to go second, after the lead single.

I didn't really know where to go from there though.

I don't think it "proves" anything. It's just people on a message board posting song titles.

That's my opnion on all of sp2
