What do people think about the latest Manic Street Preachers album? I read all these rave reviews saying it was their best for year and years. I was underwhelmed and actively disliked parts of it. Maybe I should give it more time.

No Manics fans? To be fair, apart from 'Journal..." they haven't been much cop for ages.

I like it, I agree that it's not that great as those reviews say, but it's a decent record. Probably besides Pumpkins, I like Manics the most.

someone with no opinion listens to a radical socialist group with songs like "if you tolerate this your children will be next"

No, someone who tries to scrape together balanced opinions, rather than reacting with no research, etc. And way to extrapolate from meager data: yeah, you know everything about me and my beliefs from reading one thread where I actually say nothing inflammatory.

Go off and conquer all prejudice and shoulder the guilt of being born white, you martyr.

Anyway, as Richey once said, "I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing."

it grew on me, but it has a bit too much of this poppy ringtone production (actually similar to the new Pumpkins album.)
what do you actively dislike?

like Walk me to the Bridge - I really enjoy this song live. but on the album I can't stand it.

Oh no, some sad bitter loser on the internet thinks I'm a piece of shit for disagreeing with some of the stuff he spouts. How can I go on?

Also, I didn't mention "race traitor" but nice try at trying to twist my words to make me look like an ass.

edit- I'm not irked, but I just thought it was shitty to carry on the debate in a music thread when I'd stated in that Politics thread that I would stop posting in the thread because it was just a pointless back-and-forth.

Anyway, I won't be back here till tomorrow, so let's call a truce on this thing, Trots., unless you want to return fire one more time and I can inspect it when I come back.

Peace.

also the demo and the acoustic live version of The View from Stow Hill are both better than the album track

telling me i'm a martyr and shit for criticizing white america is exactly the same as using the phrase race traitor. as if it's not my responsibility, its the non whites that need to do something

the other thing is the assumption that anyone who is outraged didn't consider both sides. we did. we found it lacking, and a teenager is dead for no reason and you're trying to justify it because you think that's being reasonable. further it's not about this one fucking case

reason why i bring it up in here is because i just think it's shit that you post about this band of all bands, a group of leftists that would be outraged by these events. it's like paul ryan saying he likes rage, or david cameron saying he loves the smiths

and yes the hitler analogy is fair as fuck

it's not that you disagree. it's that you are supporting racism because something something both sides fair and balanced i'm a dumbshit

I don't see that I was one-sided in that thread at all. I don't want to spend much more time on this, but I did say my initial reaction was "trigger-happy racist cop;" I did say that even if it wasn't racism that motivated him he could've been an "asshole cop", I did say the death was a tragedy.

Plus I agreed there is "systemic racism", it's just of all the cases of unarmed black men being shot it was almost unfortunate that this one became such a flash-point because it contained more grey areas than most cases.

And you can't really pin the Manics' politics down that easily, but I won't go into that here.

I'm not a socialist and neither a democrat. I'm simply a human being, or at least trying to be one. Not a racist too, even tho where I live there are plenty of them. And The Manics are Great - 90s manics or current, Manics of this decade. No matter how much someone on the internet would try to shit on them, honestly, it won't change my mind, and I'll still bump their music loudly.

stop saying gray area, there's no gray area

At the risk of sounding pompous and cliched, I shall now quote Oscar Wilde: "The pure and simple truth is rarely pure and never simple."

I think you'll agree that I've won the thread with that gem.

Am I allowed to like Oscar Wilde, by the way?

Anyhow, I'm sure we'd agree on the Eric Garner situation, which does make me angry (I don't spend all my time sitting on the fence, you know).

Trotskilicious

oh but it was okay to kill michael brown because it was a gray area

sure it wasn't gray with garner

get fucked you loathsome shitstain coward

Elijah Moon

Either your comprehension skills suck or you deliberately select portions of what I say out of context so you can shut down the debate by crying "Racist!" or calling me a coward. I've realised there's nothing I can say to alter that, so carry on. Happy boarding.
