... and your impressions of them.

Vixnix
What a sweet heart! So easy to talk to. Under appreciated.
Ever
More charming than he comes across online. Complicated. A good guy at heart.
The Ace of Aces
Seriously. We met. He's a nice Italian mobster kinda guy. But way too hung up on G. Tech and law talk. Other than that, he has great taste in liquor.
Warsaw
More normal than one would think. Shy.

I'm Hardcore is the only regular I've met, when he delivered a Siamese Dream vinyl to me. It was a brief but amicable meeting.

Just a few others who have <20 posts here and were far more active on the O Board

Do you let him use a hammer to open them?

I would...he has free access to hammers. But we've moved from that house so he doesn't get them in the shell, now - its rare to find them for sale.

mickyshambles. kahlo. davin. zie germans (sebastian, memories_unwind, phoenix down, million_watts). les french (frenchy, totom, schwarzy, probably some more). magikarp (only found out i have met him at sp shows in 2007-2008 very recently). redpandacat. leena. will (don't know your username).
there must be more, but most people stopped posting. so please excuse me.

06-26-2014, 05:56 PM
lets see... in order if i can remember. most likely not. so nevermind that. out of order.

sickbadthing - my friend. total dick. love him to death. i could write a book.
affectation - mega douche bag.
purple mega man - smart, intelligent rebel. too smart for his own good maybe.
blondie girl brainwashed - super hot fucked her brains out she tried to brainwash me. came from polygamist family. never to be heard of again. probably married to astronaut.
bob dole - funny as hell. worked with at multiple jobs. disappeared into status quo marriage life to some miserable person i didnt like.
the gaddrow - friendly, accommodating just all around cool gut to hang out with regardless of what anyone has to say here. met at mogwai show a good 10 years ago or more or something. good guy all around and we've hung multiple times now. got him to meet mogwai this last tour and made some dreams come true for him. he let me sleep on his hotel floor and bought me beers. a lad.
tessa - she was a girl then. cute, skinny and way to young for me to even look at in any other way. i think i scared her because i was swilling whiskey out of a bottle and blowing weed smoke all over the place and being kinda sloppy.
san fran asian hottie - i cant remember her username but she had amazing tits and was way too young again but she was awesome and her and another netphorian i cant remember the name of gave us weird gifts like pig brains and some oddities.
eve - we didnt meet but we did plan to fuck in a gas station bathroom. i had to work.
lucky 13 - complete cunt
ropey lopey - really cool guy, too smart for his own good too. friendly and complimentary. he liked my music a lot so points there. also gave me an awesome lithograph print of a picture he took on his travels. it still hangs on my wall. he never got my gift of a 12" test pressing of shit i released a long time ago because of.. issues with someone.
sleeper - we argued before we met on here. then we met and he was cool and a badass photographer and i believe he still is.
devious_j - awesome like you'd expect. only got to hang shortly at niagra falls but he's another lad.
allisonmonster - super cool chick. beautiful and tall and talented as fuck artist.
paleprincess - exactly how i'd imagined her, hilarious, purty, down to have fun and good taste in food. lots of laughs.
graveflower - we were both pretty fucked up but i remember we liked each other but didnt believe each other that we liked each other. so there was that. but he's a riot.
andyslash - jeez i liked this guy so much. lollapalooza. provided me with healthy breaths of green smoke. dude is tall and handsome and nice and everything you'd want in a friend.
pale blue eyes - also another super cool girl into rad music. she could kick my ass for sure.
beth.. beth.. i cant remember her username either. vanilla? yes vanilla i think - she was also awesome to hang with but she was with a boy she didnt seem to like or something. watched radiohead together with andyslash and pale blue eyes.
whatcolor - super handsome dude, way cooler than tom cruise. just a happy funny guy with a good 'art in em. very much enjoyed having sushi with him and doing the paul hem thing.
twice/magz - i think one of my favorite people in the universe. we only met for a brief half hour or something but we exchanged goodies and hugged. she is one of the most beautiful creatures i have ever seen in real life. short, sweet, magical ass. eyes like a unicorn.
i think that's all besides one i won't list but she was a lover and now we're not. smart beyond her years. beautiful and sweet and tender and all that stuff. adventurous. amazing taste in music. a whole lot more. love er forever in some way.
oh and xtina - tall, dark, all woman. amazingly beautiful too. could be a model. funny and fun to be around.
progresschrome - brad is just awesome. he's a clever dude and easy to talk to and drums for caribou and his own band now and he introduced me to a person i became super close friends with who recently died. a lot of good was brought into my life because of that. all the canadians. i hope he reaches mega-stardom. love him.
now im just drawing blanks because im focused on spava now and jesus lord. didnt get to meet but yeah. close enough to love her forever too.
.. yeah.. i cant remember any more though i think there are more.

ace of aces - creep. my friends and i were 17 when we met him across the street from one of their houses on the porch of empty house (she didn't want him to know where she lived). he brought liquor
plastic haircuts - turns out he worked with me. i never talked to him.
i was aborted - i like mark. and i'm looking forward to seeing him play this summer; i always enjoy it. he's very sweet!
krazee stacee - i've seen stacee dance and she's pretty sexy. i've been to their place, and she and mark are always very welcoming and gracious. i like her, too!
eulogy - i've seen him twice and one time walked right behind him on the stairs leading to the train. does that count?
agenda suicide - i saw her when i was buying a chicken and another time saw her coming out of an alteration shop when i was leaving my book buddies thing. does that count?
monte - you know how it is.
D. - Having D. around when Monte was around was a very good thing. We got along without any awkwardness. Oh, and we danced together. Remember that, D.?! ^_^

Seriously everyone I met from here was really nice.

nothing/everything - Hung out with him regularly. That's some time ago now :(
christhimself - i've met Paul about three or four times I think, in Amsterdam and in Glasgow. Very friendly I think, though I have never understood one word he said. I lifted him and swung him around.
glasgowkiss - He wasn't able to lift Paul. He wore the boutros bubba shirt all over the world.
thestreetsarehottonight - This other guy from Glasgow who was really nice. Not completely sure about his username. Iain.
xtina and her mother. I met both and of course we had a threesome. I've had better. Both were very cool though. That must have been ten years ago already.
c33 - I've met Jørgen in 2005 in Norway and just a few weeks ago when he was on a holiday in Amsterdam. We hung out a lot and I really enjoyed our time. Would probably be a regular friend if we lived closer.
severin - I saw him once when he was in Amsterdam with Paul.
this guy who was a regular and had chat threads with Paul all the time whose username i forgot - a friendly american gay person who was in Amsterdam with Paul once. does it ring a bell for anyone?
whatcolor - just saw him shortly when he was in Amsterdam once. He was very tired but it was nice to meet him.
alisonmonster - she stayed with me for a night a long time ago and gave me maple syrup. this is not a euphemism. Had a really good time with her.

i think i'm forgetting important ones

oh, i've met paul. we met up with a bunch of netphorians to have some drinks before a pumpkins gig in 2007. he was there. and he was quite hard to understand, indeed. i made fun of some word he said. i think it was "third".
i must've met more netphorians there.

i've also hung out with ??? (or what was his username? the guy with the demos) and kahlo before another sp show in london. we ate cupcakes, participated in a flashmob on trafalgar square, and went to mcdonalds for a wee. later on the day there was more drinking with internet people.

Twice & Krayzee Pumpkin - met them in Chicago, drove around and had boba tea. Then, a few years later, B and I smoked some green w Krayze and I_was_aborted; both were nice as shit and I remember not wanting to leave because they had a cute apartment and dogs.

Irrelevant - he lived in Lawrence, KS at the time which is 45 mins from KCMO. He'd go to shows in KC alladatime and we hung out several times. Introduced me to Blood Brothers, who we saw at some shitty diy venue. Went to a house party in Columbia, MO after Zwan and hung out in a small room with soft lights and then he got sick on the way home and i had to pull over.

Why Am I So Ugly? & Eve - met both briefly after Zwan show. They seemed to have some plans for a party but I didn't ask.

Toby - I know most people here don't like him but he was a great dude when I met him with his friends at a Tegan and Sara show in STL. Afterwards we got a cab and grabbed some diner food at a place that was almost closing.

Yo soy & Monte - we all know the story but I definitely think if she and I lived close, we'd have been pretty good pals. It was hilarious when she wanted to sneak a beer in to the dinner show.

I'm Hardcore - Really nice dude; we drank many energy drinks and he let me borrow his vehicle once when mine wouldn't start. BONG, SR!!!

Cain Walker - met up with him in front of some theater I think. Rode the rails to some area with a gallery or two. I think the next day it was we want to Bottom Lounge and none of us wanted to pay the $5 to go in and see Matt Walker's new band or something so we ate/drank and got a photo booth pic.

mxzombie & gek USA - went to a small party where I didn't know anyone with Tim and a couple of my friends. He seems like a great dude. I met Geo the next day for brunch with a few of her friends. Didn't get a read on her but she seemed cool.

I know I'm missing someone but I'm drawing a blank on anyone else right now. No bad experiences.

I don't remember but I also have a terrible memory. Like, usually people have to remind me of things and describe it, then I'm like "oh yeah!" and then I recall it.

Hey, I like you infinity more now than I did a few years ago. Its true I used to not like you and harbored hate towards you, Alex and dean Koontz becauss whoever did what really hurt me when I was already knocked down low. like really fucked with my head when i was really physically and mentally vulnerabld and messed up. I'm over it. I love Tim even though we haven't met we almost met and tried to make circumstances where we could meet but it just never worked out because there was always a time issue. I've met quite a few oboarders (from the original incarnation, not the post-reunion one) and ZOMBies, but no one from Netphoria. It's not that I dislike Netphorians, but I've never actually made any friends here.

I'd like to meet Aldango one day, though. Haven't talked to him in ages, but he was part of the gang back then.

I have his number because we sort of tried to meet up before a pumpkins show but it didn't pan out.

I accidentally FaceTime called him a couple months ago. Whooooops. Ended it quickly but he probablynsaw it coming in. Felt like a weirdo.

These threads always kind of depress me. Maybe because my list is always the same.

severin - He's family. Literally.
isle - Met him in London about ten years ago, we hung out in a park and played his old guitar. He seemed nice, but I got the feeling that he thought I was a douche. Not that he's wrong.
alisonmonster - Stayed at my old place in Vienna for a few days several years back. Incredibly sweet and intelligent woman, great to talk to and very easy on the eyes.

And that's it.

writing this is a little strange because the majority of these meetings are from many years ago now and im sure most people have changed considerably, myself included. makes me wonder if i'd have as much in common with people as i did when i met them (which wasn't always a lot). not that having a lot in common is required to have a good experience with someone, but it does make it easier or more natural to break out of your every-day and meet with someone you've only interacted with online, especially when free time is scarce to nonexistant

mariner - have met mariner several times, always have been the better for it. first was maybe in like 2004 or 2005 maybe, so around 10 years ago. been several years since we've last seen eachother. one of the most perceptive people i've met. also one of the funniest. i feel really badly, he was in town recently and i wasn't able to break away from work to meet up; need to email him back and explain. one of the best guys around

andyslash - met him once when i was in minnesota. this is a long time ago, maybe 2006 or something. was super kind, hospitable and fun. had a whole entire apartment filled floor to ceiling with pink floyd cds if memory serves

noyen - met him when he was in sf many years back, maybe 2007 or 2008. has a million interesting stories and has done and seen a lot in his life. kind of seems like trouble follows him (don't take that the wrong way please) but from memory maintained a pretty good attitude in the face of it

smashingjj - most recent person i saw, back in the winter 2013 when i was in amsterdam for work. made an effort to ride his bike at night to meet me for a drink at the hotel i was staying at, had some bike maintenance trouble and still made it work - very kind and i appreciated that a lot, he didn't have to make the effort. i was exhausted and it was a a low key meeting, but i can tell he is very nice and fun, clever and creative. would want to see his band play some time

monte - been many years since i've seen monte, but have seen him at a handful of bill corgan related concerts over the years, probably first around 2004 or 5 maybe. we do not have an easy time relating to one another

isle - this must have been back in 2005 so 9 years ago when i visited london; such a long time ago you can hardly really say a lot about it other than i have very fond memories of it if / when i think back on it. hope he is doing well! kind and intelligent and funny, at the time was pretty innocent (in a good way)

ropey_lopey - met him when he was in SF. twice if i remember correctly. was several years ago now. he gave me a beautiful photograph of a butcher carrying meat across a street that i have framed and is on my wall. thank you! really nice guy, very kind, generous and intelligent

luke de spa - second most recent person i met - must be a couple years ago now, maybe 2011, when he was visiting sf. very intelligent. polite. enjoyed talking with him quite a bit. good cheer, interesting informed perspectives on tech, business, and people in general, was really fun to meet him, have always like his boarding, great to know the person behind it is even better

i'm hardcore - probably like 2007 or something, so quite a long time ago. he was in sf during his travels. i remember going to get some real good food with him and his friend kahn and then going to a party and then some other stuff. very fun and open and up for an adventure. was a fun time, brought great enthusiasm and fun

spring - met her when she was in sf. has always been a super sweet person. we didn't talk a ton about her at the time, or if we did i'm having trouble remembering the details. has always been an awesome person

the omega concern - it's been several years since i saw ronnie but i enjoyed hanging out with him and did so several times. a couple times i went to the east bay to see him, those were interesting times. and a few times he was in SF and we met up. equally intersting times. he was a college athlete- pretty cool

i'm sure that i've forgotten a few, my bad. have learned something new from each person - thank you!

edit: oh snap, i forgot mayfuck! mayfuck - i met him when i was living in la, 2010 i think - he made the effort to go to a show in silverlake (a solo show for the main guy from two gallants) - which i'm pretty sure he did just to humor me. was nice of him to do that. was impossible for me to know what to expect given the way he boards, but it was a very pleasant time. was pretty reserved, but that's using his boarding style as baseline. i remember enjoying the show but thinking he probably didn't enjoy it very much. most online interactions i've had with him are several layers deep in schtick but in person he was not that way so it was an interesting contrast. kind person, pleasant and intelligent

You'd love punching it. It is such a punchable face. Especially when its coming out of a turtleneck. Its natural for him to hate me though because I slept with his apparent fiance (I didn't know at the time) and really did him a favor by saving him from marrying someone who'd cheat on him. So I was that guy. He's still a douche though. Greygoose. Penis smile.

I will try not to take that the wrong way. ;) I think I'm too confrontational with people and can't stand passive aggressive so that gets me into trouble. I also must've been talking more than spring or something. Which makes me feel bad because I think she would've rather had one on one time with you without my stories of mayhem all over the planet. I do tend to attract trouble though but also a lot of good. I had a good time hanging out and should've shut my mouth :). shes way cooler than I.

i've met him twice. many beers were had on both occasions.

one time he came to brussels, and i was going to show him and his friend around, and the first thing i did was getting completely lost. ahahaha. i always get lost in brussels. i don't know the place at all. they would've been better off without me.

i've heard lingua is delicious and i would love to try it. i don't particularily understand why gringos think it's so gross. It's not like the liver or tripas, it's just a great big muscle. That's what beef is. whatever gringos.

and I would be keeping up with you. lately i'm thinking perhaps as a diet i'll eat nothing but tacos & mexican food, mostly chicken. i did this in SA and actually lost weight, you just eat chicken and stuff and avoid a lot of cheese

i know a place in austin that does pastor traditional style, e.g. roasting that pile of pork on a vertical spit

carnival and tacos sounds pretty heavenly. i make them at home mostly lately. i found zachilla guacamole sauce in the markets now which makes everything heavenly. a must have condiment at home.

one of the things that austin hasn't gotten wise to is authentic places, because what the yelpers in this fucking town want is someone with a goddamn DEGREE in interior decoration to come in and make it "funky" or "stylish" or "modern" and then they give these fucking five star reviews for what ultimately is a totally shitty, overpriced taco (torchy's is about the only exception but it started as a truck) made by douchebag white people or dicks that went to culinary school who thought it would be cute to make a taco with bahn mi ingredients in it and charge 4.50 for it when i can get a goddamn bahn mi at a fucking authentic place for about the same fucking price. i can get a goddamn authentic cuban sandwich for fucking $6. noyen
07-09-2014, 07:52 PM
we've had the same problem with pho places here. the worst pho places get these high reviews while the best places in town have the lowest scores. which is okay by me. i went and checked out the pho place everyone was talking about (http://www.ohmaisandwich.com/) and raving over you gotta try dis thing called a banh mi... (i've already had them and found the best pho places) and their food is disgusting and unworthy of any praise. was loaded with white people which is a dead give away. the best place http://www.yelp.com/biz/south-china-house-salt-lake-city has the best fucking pho in this town. it is magical broth and is like drinking unicorn piss. every thursday i pho it up. got my brother addicted to it.

this place: http://www.chungasmexican.com/ has the best al pastor in town. we endorsed them on slctacos.com and they blew up and now it's overloaded with douchebags on their lunch break but we're atleast happy they get tons of business because it is so god damn good. they did my friends wedding catering and it was unlimited al pastor. one of the highlights of my life.

Trotskilicious
07-09-2014, 07:59 PM
yeah the "nothing but white people" thing is such a dead giveaway that their mexican food fucking sucks. there is actually a place like that in San Antonio--the holy mecca of tex-mex--called the Alamo Cafe and they serve enchiladas with flour tortillas. Which is heresy. We would go there for wrap parties for this dumb theater club i was in back in college, and we had two girls from the border/the Valley and they ordered chicken fried steak. That speaks volumes about that horrible place. Our completely lily white club president loved it though and he basically didn't even think of what we wanted.

the best food, like the Tamale House (now closed, which is another whole austin californication rant) brings out all the colors of the 'bow, man. Somethign I always treasured about that place, in a highly segregated city where whites, blacks, and mexicans do not mingle...they all show up at the tamale house for THE BEST goddamn breakfast tacos. it brought a tear to my eye.

i have friends of mine who won't go to taquerias arandinas with me because they are worried the mexican folks there don't like gringos and they're talking bad about us in spanish and i'm like dude they get rich of this gringo and i tip them better than most of the regular clientele (they had to put fucking signs up to remind people to tip)

that or it's a avacado tomatillo onion sauce/mexican style guacamole. i must taste it.. there's so much variation. i try all kinds of sauces that are just named after the region the dude is from and it's usually a variation of zaaschila stuff which a lot of taco stands just make fresh. it's the creamy green often spicy as fuck stuff.

i just buy this stuff http://www.zaaschila.com/en/ http://www.amazon.com/Zaaschila-Guacamole-Habanero-9-35oz-265g/dp/B001XY7O6K and every other type of sauce they make. go through a bottle of it in like a week.

oh here's another example of my austin culinary experience, i went to this place i used to go to all the time for their texmexinest chili cheese enchiladas and they've gotten a funky makeover which i'm like oh chist, and they're advertising duck tacos and i'm even further like oh for the love of, and then when i get up to the menu they've replaced chili goddamn cheese with "Butternut squash and Kale enchiladas" and when i ask the girl if they have chili cheese, she says yes and then asks me red or green

hahaha yeah i encounter that stuff too. sometimes it's good... sometimes just not a taco. sounds like this place http://www.taqueria27.com/ lots of duck and beets, mushrooms, pork belly, pears, turkey, etc... shit you just don't get on the street in mexico. sometimes it's good. but most of the time it's a shame they're calling it a taco and not something else.

mmmm lengua and tripas

i still need to get Tim to try menudo. unfortunately, it's a warmer weather food, but i still drink coffee and hot chocolate in the summer. and ice cream sandwiches in the winter. fuckit. i need to seek out a place that does it right and then taste-test it before Tim does. ;_; oh the things we put ourselves through for those we love. i want his first time to be special and good.

tripas and menudo are things i haven't tried

i had a co-worker back at the pizza joint named carlos and eventually we got so sick of pizza we'd make jalisco runs for dinner. I remember one time carlos was REALLY EXCITED because the restaraunt up the street had menudo on weekends only and it was sunday or something. He kept saying that real mexicans eat menudo and he's a real mexican and while he was eating it he kept talking about how mexican he felt and that the menudo was powering his mexicanness

it was pretty funny, ten years ago never forget

tripe in good pho is good. it just has to be cooked right. good menudo is amazing. bad menudo will make you never want to try it again. same goes for haggis i guess. i love guts. liver. hearts. kidneys. yum yum yum.

it tastes nearly identical to Sheppard's pie to me. I love it. The only stuff I can get here is a really weak interpretation of it, without the guts and stomach and is basically a lamb stew. I love menudo and hate lutefiak. I think once people have a bad experience with tripe they are forever done with it, which is a shame because Mexican and Thai cuisine does it right. plastic haircuts - turns out he worked with me. i never talked to him.
i was aborted - i like mark. and i'm looking forward to seeing him play this summer; i always enjoy it. he's very sweet!
krazee stacee - i've seen stacee dance and she's pretty sexy. i've been to their place, and she and mark are always very welcoming and gracious. i like her, too!
eulogy - i've seen him twice and one time walked right behind him on the stairs leading to the train. does that count?
agenda suicide - i saw her when i was buying a chicken and another time saw her coming out of an alteration shop when i was leaving my book buddies thing. does that count?
monte - you know how it is.
D. - Having D. around when Monte was around was a very good thing. We got along without any awkwardness. Oh, and we danced together. Remember that, D.?! ^_^

well that sounds terrible (the outlet shopping, not shopping with you). apparently we are going to a place that is part restaurant and part art museum that is owned by some people the groom went to undergrad with. my sister doesn't actually live there, everyone is flying in. seems weird to have a destination wedding to some random small town in Maine but hey it's not my wedding
