the last time I ate there (also because of my grandparents) I ordered this chicken dish and it was literally a big chunk of totally and obviously processed chicken, a la a chicken sandwich at mcdonalds or something, except it had italian spices and a disgusting amount of salt on it

redbreegull
05-07-2014, 08:18 PM
the problem is really not just the quality of the food in of itself (though it is bad), more that the quality is fast food and the prices are nice sit-down restaurant

redbreegull

but seriously olive garden is horrible, by leaps and bounds the worst chain of that variety.

Are you paying your meal? cause if you're not, stop complaining. Free food is always good no matter where it's from (I mean I don't know its just everytime I go to a restaurant with either my dad or mom, I never have to worry about paying, they won't let me. but i'm not sure what the customs are for parents of non-chronically indigent adults...). Anyway I haven't been to olive garden in about 12 or 13 years (we don't have it in Canada..or at least quebec) but the two or three times I went i'd get the seafood pasta and I thought it was just fine.

Distraction.

Are you or are you not getting a free meal though? I need to know so I can know whether to tell you to stfu or not.

Also for future reference, please keep in mind i'm significantly more clever than pretty much everyone on this forum. But it makes some people insecure. Generally such insecurity is manifested through them calling me an idiot or some such thing when in truth the only truly idiotic thing I've ever done was to come back here. But now I can't quit, mainly because of the abuse I endure from troglodytes such as yourself. It's addicting.

Of course, it could be reasonably argued that me claiming to have the intellectual upper hand only betrays my own insecurity.

P.s: Also, I may or may not be trolling.

Since when does being employed equal not being poor? I mean you're living in America aren't you? You should know that.

I don't actually eat horse. I mean I have before a few times but I never bought it myself. I'm nearly vegetarian now anyway. Not really but almost. Like if I'm eating somewhere else I'm not gonna bother my hosts with my eating preferences. but I decided at some point I had to stop being a hypocrite and stop buying meat. It's not that "meat is murder" I object to, I'm fine with the idea of killing, it's that meat is too often torture.

basically, you're complaining about eating one meal at a place that is borderline acceptable (to you) in order to visit with your grandparents. one meal where you have the opportunity to order whatever the fuck you want; nobody's forcing you to eat the chicken, dude. order of the kids menu for kicks. order a ton of apps and desserts. order the peach raspberry iced tea by the bucket because that shit is fucking delicious.

on the last page it seems like you're championing yourself for having lived below the poverty line at one point growing up. one would think this time of hardship would have humbled you enough to brave sharing the dining room with olive garden patrons. guess not.

value for money

http://myfox8.com/2014/11/03/burlington-man-eating-olive-garden-every-day-twice-a-day-for-seven-weeks/

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A North Carolina man has used his “Never Ending Pasta Pass” from Olive Garden to eat 95 meals over the last six weeks.

Alan Martin bought the pass for $100 and says he has received $1,510 worth of food so far.

His goal is to continue eating Olive Garden every day, twice a day, until the pass expires on Nov. 9.

“I would love to be the person that ate the most of the 1,000 people. That would be a good contest to win,” said Martin. “Because that means I got the most value out of the card of anyone in the United States.”

The pasta pass is valid for all the pasta, salad, bread and Coca-Cola drinks a person can consume during the seven week period.

The pass was only made available to 1,000 people.

The exploding boy

I have to say 100$ for six weeks if you eat there twice a day is really good. I try to not spend more than 150$ a month on food. That's 5$ a day. 100$ for six weeks beat that by a lot. It would be good for a poor person like me. Of course by eating at olive garden twice a day, you'd get super fat in no time.

On the other hand, if someone decided to just eat pasta at home for six weeks, they'd probably spend less than this. A plate of pasta with basic sauce doesn't cost more than 1$. Twice a day that would come to about 84$ for 6 weeks. But then...you don't get the quality experience of going to Olive Garden.

I think it would be hard to do. If you figure that the guy in this example was eating pasta twice a day and he ate 5-6 oz per meal, and he also ate salad and drank a coke you'd have to account for all that, plus salad dressing, pasta sauce, cheese, etc.

Pasta ($1/lb), 5oz per serving = $26.25
Coke ($4/12pk can), 2 cans per day = $25.20
Salad ($3/bag..4 servings per bag) =$63
Salad Dressing (2x28oz bottles of Kraft $3/bottle) = $6
Pasta Sauce ($1.50 for 24oz Ragu, 4 servings/bottle) = $15.75

That's $134.95 without adding cheese or a choice of sauces.

The exploding boy
11-18-2014, 03:15 PM
so everything is included then not just pasta? I wondered if they meant it literally. I thought mybe ti was like, you had to order pasta specifically and anything else you'd have to pay for.

It would be great if it would have been so literal that even sauce wouldnt have been included...."here's your plain pasta sir"

your nose got sharper i think

You must be a hit with girls.

Here's a good way to test if someone is a foodie... ask someone how they feel about iceberg vs roman. If they pick roman and THEN go on about how iceberg is awful and like heresy and shouldn't even be used for salad or something of the sort, they're a foodie. If they pick roman but say they're ok with iceberg or just actually pick iceberg. Not a foodie

It's not very scientific i know but whatevs.... Asking them is not an option because though a lot fit the profile, most would claim not to be. It's like hipsters that way.

Yeah it was pretty horrible. I'm getting a free meal with my grandparents and i'm gonna bitch about it cause it's the most awful thing.

If your food is worth having its picture taken, you are most likely dining at an establishment where taking pictures of your food is tacky. Imo.

the only way your family will nag you for only getting an appetizer is if they're italian which they are obviously not if they're eating at olive garden.

Common misconception. I dated a girl back in the day whose family was Italian and they fucking loved Olive Garden.

Then again, she and they were kind of crazy. Whenever her parents went out of town, she'd want to fuck in their bed. Looking back, I wonder what kind of psychological issues she had, but also wonder how I could maintain an erection when her parents' room reeked of mothballs.

And yes, I'm responding to a 2+ year old post and sharing way too much. How's YOUR Sunday going?

Last time I went to Olive Garden was March of 2011. I got violent food poisoning and spent the next three days feeling as if I was dying.

Never. Again.
