@Billy: Devi Ever is a fucking asshole. His/her pedals suck. He/she sucks. Never associate my name and his/hers ever again. Pig. Ugly pig.

@Billy: Asking someone to build you a pedal in emulation of another pedal you like, and them sending you a piece a shit back is not creativity.

@Billy: And in fact he/she STOLE his/her pedal idea from another Portalnd pedal maker, which is far superior. Ugliness masking as blind ambition

you ugly piece of shit...if i ever run into you, anywhere, at anytime, for as long as i live, i will knock your fucking lights out. don't ever come near me, and if i hear even one more peep out of you in public about me, or the band, or the members of the band, i am gonna sue you for so much you'll never be able to afford so much as to even make a fucking guitar cable. i know plenty about copyright law, so before you run your trap anymore about what you think you know, or your delusional constructs of reality, know that to fight a lawsuit is at least a 30 to 40 thousand dollar endeavor. if you still got enough balls to go there, try me. nice to know you thought so little of me, and of us, but we're still willing to try to take advantage of a generous offer because you are a piece of shit and that is what fake pieces of shit do. at least i am real. unlike you, who is a sad creation. don't you say another word, or you'll be fighting something you can't afford and you'll lose everything. this will be the cost of you running your mouth on me ever again.

Here's my three-strikes-he's out for Billy and the pedals.

1) I gave him a Shoe Gazer and Rocket a long time ago, and when I met him in person and mentioned the Shoe Gazer, he said something along the lines of "It's a great fuzz, but you can't use that live... you know?" ... No, I don't know Billy. Tell me why you're too afraid to do anything interesting with your live sound anymore. Oh right, everything has to be pristine and perfect these days or vintage and unprogressive... just like you.

2) The Rocket diss in the "Stompland" video. The Rocket was not designed to emulate the sound from Rocket. The pedal is a nod to the song, and a love letter of sorts to Siamese Dream... but anyone who's actually spent good time with it knows that it goes WAY beyond that... so his obvious misunderstanding (through undoubted little use) of the pedal was kind of annoying. What made it pretty fucking infuriating though was that I was in the middle of developing the pedal which I -thought- I was working with him on (the Silver Rose) to make a fuzz that would fit his "modern yet vintage" fuzz needs.... and to have him publicly (metaphorically and literally) toss the Rocket aside was a real shit move in relation... to well EVERYTHING going on that point. Fortunately no one gives much a shit about Billy anymore in regards to such things, so any business lost because of his off hand comment isn't business I'm worried about. It was just a dick move. I like what a good friend of mine in the industry said "When it comes to fuzz, you're bigger than Billy Corgan... fuck him."

It's true... I'm selling Silver Roses like crazy... not because of anything Billy did... but because people like what I do, and could give two shits at the end of the day who uses my pedals... but still... I don't do well with idiots and assholes, and Billy fits the bill (lol) of both these days.

3) The Silver Rose. I spent well over three grand developing the Rose for that ungrateful asshole. I listened to what he wanted, developed something that was far beyond what my business usually does, went through a costly research and development process, and ultimately sent him around $1k worth of gear on top of all the R&D costs during the SR time... and what came of his use, or thanks, or anything for that time spent?

Nothing. The guy didn't say shit in response to all that hard work. As a matter of fact, just for shits, I decided to toss the name of a fellow pedal builder his way who was building a pedal he might like, just as a last... we'll see what happens. So what happens? The fucker writes back the next day saying he'd love one of those!

lol

The guy has the attention span of a carrot.

Seriously though. I'm unapologetic in any of this, and glad to finally just cut ties with the guy. He is definitely the epitome of the fallen hero story that seems to eventually play out to anyone and at least some of their heroes over time.

So yeah... this is the pedal side of things... but beyond that, once again... there is so much about Billy Corgan beyond the music and gear that I just don't vibe with... actually ALL OF IT.... and the music isn't there anymore... so fuck him.

DE- I wrote this in response to his message : You do realize your claims of me stealing a circuit is called Libel. I'd talk to your lawyers before sending any more threatening emails my way.

Also... you do realize you just threatened bodily harm if you ever saw me? You're not building much of a case for yourself legally, or in terms of publicity dude. Just drop it.

BC- you do what you have to do you pig. but i'm telling you, you think you know what you are doing here with me, but you don't. if you just want to go to war, keep running your mouth. i;d like to see you try to sue me for libel. you don't have two nickels to rub together.you are a fake, a phony, a liar, and now a proven idiot. what artist will ever work with a manufacturer who disses her clients out? you are so fucking stupid. and you didn't even have the courage to deal with it in private. you run to a greek chorus of idiots to ape you on. like i said, one more word out of you in public and i will be suing you for ten times more than you'll make in the next ten years. and don't think i am one to make hollow threats. i've been in many lawsuits through the years, and haven's lost one yet. enjoy your 15 seconds of negative attention. you fucked up, you know it, so eat shit, shut the fuck up and accept you've attacked someone who tried to HELP YOU. but addicts and self-destructive people like you who HATE THEMSELVES must turn their hate out. if this is what you have to do to not kill your unhappy self, well then i'd say it was a wise decision. beyond that, you are fucking lame, dumb, and so so ugly.

If anyone has any other links I would love to read more about this.

I can't find much info but even articles from october were still championing this and saying how amazing it was going to be.

For those who don't know : it was going to be a digital multi fx pedal that took cartridges to dial up specific effects, which were going to be open source so anybody could start programming effects and selling/giving away the chips or the info on them.

So I wonder what ultimately happened. My guess is that she bit off more than she could chew and then the project petered out (there was no dedicated team working on) so another company (line 6 maybe??) came to her rescue at the very end but ended up with the whole devi ever trademark as part of the contract.

she did. this was openly discussed on her forum and on I<3fuzz. whatever.

She sold her first pedal company Effector 13 a long while back. now she's selling this one. I expect her to start a new company with a new name - she'll be fine. making pedals is a good easy living once you know how, she's good at marketing and everyone knows her name & it translates into sales. Her designs used to all be primitive but she's learned how to outsource engineering of new ideas (ish) and I don't expect her to not make a come back.

I've own a bunch of her pedals. Don't have as many, but I've still got 5-6 of em.
I've pre-ordered stuff from her in the past, and it was a disaster that worked out. The last thing I had ordered from her was a Silver Rose (the special pedal she designed for billy) and it took crazy long to get. I ended up getting a refund for it, but then she mailed me one anyways (free of charge). It's a fucking great pedal. Her heart is in the right place. The year before that I had ordered a Workhorse (special edition corksniffer mega pedal) and it also took forever. I also got a refund on that and then she mailed it to me anyways. It was broken, she wanted nothing to do with it so she sent me an infanem faye-sing (a 300$ pedal that she knew I wanted). I got a local tech to fix it up for 40$. Her heart is in the right place, she just bites off more then she can chew sometimes. being on medication doesn't help either.

The Hyperion, the Soda-Meiser & Torn-Peaker are all great and affordable fuzz pedals. Jim Marshall was a racist but his amps are still sold because they sound great. All that matters is tone.

If anyone has any other links I would love to read more about this.

The Rocket is actually just two of her single pedals in one box
Vintage Fuzz Master > Soda Meiser.

unless you're tight for pedalboard space and need these two in this sequence I recommend you just get them as separate 100$ pedals
There's probably 4 of them that are 'big muff' type. probably the Hyperion.
Considering she's offering the Kickstarter folks "devi credit", that means she's still willing to still build pedals. she does direct orders, more profitable for her then when you buy from a store that make em up!

or go to ebay, there's plenty on ebay all the time

I'm sure there's fuzzy math there.
100$ a pedal X 50 weeks X 50 pedals a week = 250,000$
yet she probably sells to her distributors at 50% (she did get picked up by musicians friend, but got dropped by the end of the year anyways).
or maybe she made 100 pedals a week. with the right organization It's possible for one person to assemble/solder that many working 40hours a week - her pedals aren't that complicated.
But those projections probably also involved a growing staff. It's not uncommon for a small business to project this kind of image - make it till you fake it!

It wasn't a digital multiFX.
It was basically just a backplane

essentially the console would have just had some switching/routing electronics in it an the controls abstracted out
and all the signal processing would be in the cartridges -- you could populate the circuitboard inside the cartridge with whatever.
It's not THAT much different than the old Korg PME modular (expect the korg had the knobs on the "cartridges" - which makes sense because the effects could vary in what values they'd need)

It was "open source" in that the cartidg specs/pinouts would be published.

But there wasn't any DSP or anything for people to program.

That'd have been wayyyy beyond Devi Ever's capabilities.
well, to be honest, this project was too QED

That looks to be pretty much her gameplan.

Unfortunately, it looks to be pretty much a redux of her electronics where she's heavy on PR and holds herself out as sort of part of the cognoscenti on retro graphics and gaming.
Then people call her out on factual errors and she'll delete tweets, etc.

Seems like there's also the ranting then the eventual contrite "self-appraisal" of being off balance, then a return to more ranting.
This is accompanied by lots of resolutions to "stay out of the drama" only to be followed by more drama-inducing statements.

I think it's basically attention-seeking behavior. She may consider it "exposure" for her new venture.
just a year or so ago she did talk about working past the delusion that she'd become an "e-celebrity" -- I think that ulterior motive (perhaps not consciously) is still there.
(she did, recently, refer to game SW development as "show biz" -- while it's an entrainment industry. I would hesitate to call SW dev "show biz")

I feel bad for those who contributed to the kickstarter expecting their premuim of console devices - I seriously doubt they will see a refund in a timely manner (Devi Ever is NOT pursuing a stable job, just her new art projects)

(one misconception people have...the kickstarter funding recipient is REQUIRED to come through on premiums that are offered OR refund....it's not a speculative gamble like some people think.)

Well, I suppose there is the sense of wild-child implosion. She's changed the big project she's pushing a few times in just the last few weeks -- including the revenue model ("game pack", "season pass", single game 'early access'). It looks like panic moves...the trashing around of someone drowning
What makes me feel really bad about it is that it looks like she's struggling to avoid a 'day job' (she tweeted about that) . That sucks because that means she's not really "working day and night" like she said she would to get people who trusted her their money back. She's trying to avoid getting a job (I assume because it's not 'fun' enough)

You know, I think the console thing is actually more like the old electra MPC guitars. A lot of folks used to call them the "Atari cartridge" guitars, but I guess that dates me...ATARI cartridges instead of NINTENDO.

Interesting parallel. In looking up Amanda Palmer, I noticed that Devi Ever was auctioning off a glass dildo owned by one Amanda Palmer. (It reminds me a little bit of the movie slacker where the woman is trying to sell Madonna's pap smear).

It looks like Amanda caught some heat for putting together some kind of tour where she'd get paid, but local support musicians were supposed to just play for the honor of playing with her.

billy really just needed to sit back and go after her without throwing the transgender slurs in her face. there's plenty of stuff here to be mad about, and i do think that he did have every right to give her a metaphorical slap in the face on twitter he just lead with transgender insults and he/shes instead of, you know, the stuff that is shitty and skeezy. like talking shit about a guy you supposedly have a working relationship with.

i thought it was kind of overblown if all he said was he/she (in regards to trans slurs). i know youre supposed to address transgenders by their gender specific pronouns but its kind of like calling a little person a midget. most people don't know droves of the demographic to be "aware" in all situations

i'm more bristled by him going on a petty wig out trip after preaching about god and forgiveness everyday and the fact he was a 40 year old man taking to twitter to do it

i don't really care either way i'm just bored

Sadly it's unlikely that he regrets saying any of that, and would probably stand by it still.

Yeah, Corgan probably shouldn't have wigged out at all. It really sounded like a pretty minor issue for him.

and I think he got baited a little.

It looks like Devi Ever really IS about the drama. I heard that she wigged out and rage quit pretty much the whole internet only to return with the "Oh, I was in a bad head way" a few hours later.
That's, apparently, her pattern...rage quit (or get kicked off) forums, come back hat-in-hand, rinse repeat.

just following the story

...you know like the way people might set up , oh, a website to follow SP and Corgan and things attached to them.
That's what these sorts of sites are about.

It's really a pretty interesting psycho-social study in the Gen X->Y transitionals.

I think meltdown era Corgan and meltdown Devi Ever have some things in common...the rift is a focus point, but the stuff pre- and post- rift really highlights the similarities between them.
funny how "the enemy" is so often a doppelganger

she already outsourced a ton of her technical work. she was a face, and maybe a an idea factory, but her technical knowhow was minimal at best.

Without the ability to create my works (art, music, games) full time, I am miserable. Having to struggle to find ways to supplement my income in ways that compromise my desires and vision as a passionate creator absolute tear me asunder.

I do not believe it should be an unreasonable goal to be able to earn a very basic living wage on my personal creative work alone, especially with how prolific my work is, and how often I release new content.

I'm not a consumer good. I'm not a PR specialist. I'm simply someone who loves to create things, and until I have the stable financing to do this on a month to month basis, I will be miserable, and unable to reach my full potential sooner than later.

I'm 35. I've already run a business for a decade of my life. I've already gone through some of the worst parts of a physical / psychological transition. I'm not asking to retire. I'm asking for the support and love that is required for me to continue generating creative content from now until the cold hand of death takes me from this tepid reality.

Thank you for those who understand I am something worth fighting for.

If you guys wanna know an actual cool trans game developer look up porpetine / Aliendovecote. She makes really interesting TWINE games ala depression quest that can be quite moving

I just wish this thread didn't have the Karl posts. Even the sincere one used transgenders, we are just transgender people. I'm a trans woman, Devi is, sucksuckstyle is a trans man who posts here. And it hurts us s
L to see a cis dude using those terms he used earlier in the thread. It just hurts. It's dehumanizing. When he said the he/she was overblown, William knew Grace Lynn's identity, so he was intentionally misgendering, and more importantly, he threatened her with violence.
