My mom has been doing it since before I can remember and always prompted my sister and I to follow suit. I always thought it was just something crazy she had made up to entertain us.

we never said it three times, only twice. as the article explains, there is variance in the superstition. I just thought it was interesting because it says it is a practice that exists in "many English speaking countries," but I have never heard another person say it.

No but at school we did pinch and a punch for the first of the month NO BACKSIES like it was a god damn Olympic sport. You would get to school in the morning and nobody would go anywhere near each other and then it would turn into a shitfight as we filed into the classroom.

I've never heard of this before. My grandmother was very superstitious. If she dropped a fork she would throw salt over her shoulder and some other stuff I remember as a child.

As a gay woman that would be nothing short of a miracle.

Actually I feel relief cause it's the day I usually get paid.

I swear she mentioned that she was bi-sexual... so going on dates wouldn't imply that she's gay.

Hey, it doesn't matter to me one bit, I've just never seen her mention it over all these years.

Well it's a really long and boring story. I talked about it here somewhere before.
The short version is that I was always gay but didn't realize it, I thought I was Bi because honestly it was "easier" and less scary to me at the time.

Ended up getting into many horrible one sided relationships with guys, which I always felt awful about during and after.
And robbed myself of many potential relationships with women because I would self sabotage thinking they could never be fully realized relationships even though those were always the ones I'd catch myself missing and feeling sad about.

In retrospect it's all very embarrassing and I wish I would have taken many different decisions in my life.

I guess I somehow never came across the thread. Sorry if I was a insensitive with the surprised emoji smiley. but hey, don't feel embarrassment about anything, it's all a part of self discovery. It's what growing ups all about. Life's too short to not embrace ones desires
