Reprise your couponing is incredible! I want to do that here but I don't think we have anything like that here. :(

reprise85
11-12-2012, 05:14 PM
if you have a grocery store that accepts coupons you can prob do it, at least sort of

the best way is to use items that are on sale, have manufacturer's coupons, and store coupons.

for example those vitamins i mentioned aren't on sale but they are 3.99. there's a $6 off 2 publix coupon out there and a $2 off 1 manufacturer's coupon. so add those up and you have $10 in coupons for 7.98 worth of product. That's $2.02 you can spend on something else. Some people go super nuts (like extreme couponing) type shit, but not only am I not down with that, I don't have space. So I just get what I need. There is an incentive for me to go over $30 (a $5 off coupon)... so I've been get 6 vitamins and using that $6 overage and the $5 from the $5 off $30 purchase to get other stuff ($11 free money)... but then the other items have coupons as well, and/or are on sale, so there you go. This is an incredible deal because you can get unlimited number of both coupons, most you're limited (print limit is 2 or if it's in the paper you get one per paper... and i don't have time to do all that anyway)

It sounds more complicated than it is because first off, the internet does all the work for you and tells you the deals and where to get the coupons. Secondly, once you get organized it only takes like max an hour to prepare. I get two newspapers a week and have a filing system where I just file the whole inserts and the internet tells me where to get a specific coupon and voila. So I only cut a coupon if I'm about to use it and I don't have a binder or whatever people use on extreme couponing shows. also, my sister taught me so that made it easier for me.

usually this deal isn't happening but i still regularly get like $40-$50 worth of groceries for $10-$20. people who buy soda and sugary cereal and etc can do much better but that's cool.

in theory, if i wanted, i could just buy the vitamins and get $6 cash back from publix... or $6 worth of other stuff (to reach $30 threshold), and get $5 cash from publix. i've only gotten cash back once and it was by accident when i first started doing coupons. i'd rather make it up with product. publix is cool with it, they get their money from the manufacturer, the manufacturer gets people to try new things and start liking their brands... so everyone wins

Reprise that was a great post...I still can't really get my head around it. I've never seen a lot of coupons here before, sadly...if I lived in the US I would totally just copy what you're doing.

I do read all the leaflets that come in the mail and tale note (like write down) where the best specials are. If anything that is a staple is half price somewhere, I go and buy twice or three times as much as we currently need. Or if a better brand than we normally buy is cheaper than what I normally get, I buy twice or three times as much again. We save a lot and eat a lot of good food this way.

Plug in the item, and voila. It will tell you where you can get the coupon, and if it's online, then there you go. You'll do better "going with sales", but even if you don't, you should save a significant amount.

I stockpile some stuff. Last week V8 was buy one get one and there was a .75 off two out there. I was going to get a bunch but the coupons I ordered (10 of em) got lost in the mail and didn't come until after it was over. So I ended up just getting 6 (I had three of the coupons because there were 2 printables). I don't know where I would have found space for 20, but I've never seen them BOGO before and they're usually 3.29 each. So instead they were .90c each. Big difference, eh? They should be BOGO after the first of the year when people are trying to be "healthy"

I'm going to take advantage of the overage I can get and get some toilet paper, I think. I can get 6x 12 pack double rolls for $30 - $10 worth of coupons = $20. Minus $11 overage = $9.00 And it's eligible for a $10 rebate. I think I can stack it on my lcoset lf if I get creative. I still have a couple packs of Charmin but they are shaped differently and are easier to store. I'll prob give my family a couple packs. So then I'll have TP for probably close to a year.

Excellent...I'm going to look for Australian coupon sites...I would love those kinds of savings. A lot of our food budget goes on fruit and veggies because we get them through a co-op, that's about $45 a week. I try not to spend more than $150/week on groceries but it is so hard. Those kinds of savings would make a big difference!

Yeah I spend at least I'd say 60% on fruit and veggies. It's hard to find deals on that, so I take advantage if I can get overage somewhere, or if I can't I only shop ridiculously good sales (mostly at Aldi, which has cheap produce). I also get dried prunes and apricots when I can get them cheap and stockpile them for times when I can't get cheap fruit. Apricots are like $6 usually for a 16oz bottle but a couple weeks ago I got them for $2.25... I only buy them when I can get deals like that. My budget for food and cleaning supplies is $150/mo for one person, which is still hard with all the fresh stuff I eat. But doable. I spend probably $25 a week on meat and fruit/veg... definitely the majority of my budget.

That TP deal had expired 11/9 (oops), so today I just got more wipes and the ice cream and big bag of popcorn and big thing of clingwrap for $2.42

Yes as long as they're not too old...must be some good apple eating where you are right now! Growing up my favourite was Braeburn, but now I like the new ones like sundowner and eve...and more tart varieties like granny smith. Fuji I like if they are super fresh otherwise no.

I love honeycrisp, gala, and golden delicious the most. Braeburn and granny smith too. I can't believe how many varieties there are just at Walmart! And yes, this is the best time for huge, juicy, crispy, apple goodness!

apples are a pain in the ass to ring up because there are so many of them and a lot of them look the same so i have to search for the produce code like every time

We're just getting stone fruit now, our coop box had nectarines and apricots. They need a few days in the fruit bowl to ripen and then they will be perfect. Oranges are still good too. But I'll miss apples!

lol that was the first one i learned too. 4011, bitches!

i'm a dork though and i make myself learn them. because if you look them up all the time you never type them in, so you never learn them. so i write down about 10 at a time on a notepad and refer to it whenever one comes up that is written down, and in i'd say 2-5 shifts I have most of those memorized and then make a new sheet and etc

Lunch was brisket, jalapeño sausage, Mac and cheese, fried okra and cornbread.

Dinner was a smoked stuffed baked potato with pico, smoked chicken, sour cream, cheddar cheese, jalapeños and spices. Dessert was Blue Bell Christmas Cookies.

I always make the best of my trips to Texas.

I just had a mini moonpie.

The eating of which is actually tied to netphoria history as i bought a box earlier this week because the only time i'd had a moonpie before was at the albany bus stop in 2000 coming back from Chicago seeing the UC show with all the fellow netphorians and the reason i bought one then was because a board member was called Moonpie and seeing the thing in a vending machine finally got me to understand the origin of her name and being hungry at the time, i figured i'd find out what they were like. we don't have them in Canada though we have Wagon Wheels which are the same thing but i didn't even know about Wagon wheels until the mid 2000s and so i tried moonpies again now to see how the measured up to WW....not very well it turns out

this was my cool story bro of the day
