It would've been interesting to see Billy's face when D'arcy said James might sing lead vocals on the next album. That and the whole "Billy wrote 95 percent of the last album, but we're moving away from that" bit.

I don't think so. The uploader put the wrong date in the description.

Via Google Translate:

Interview members of American rock band SMASHING PUMPKINS, touring the UK in February 1992.

You can see GM buses before the interview starts.

>>>

GM Buses was the main bus company serving Greater Manchester, a metropolitan county in North West England. The company was public owned by Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive, which is a public body responsible for helping to co-ordinate public transport services in the Greater Manchester area. The company was split into two—GM Buses North and GM Buses South—in 1993 to increase competition for services in area before they were taken over by First Group and Stagecoach Group respectively.

i forget how important the whole "scene" thing seemed to be 20 years ago. My friends would have arguments constantly about this or that scene. The Wax Trax thing comes to mind. Or the fact that most of the people I knew hated the dance scene. thinking back about it now it seems completely arbitrary.

Every time anyone other than Billy talks, he quickly interrupts them. If he keeps this crap up I can't really see this band lasting.

Billy is long winded and obnoxious for the most part. James is the comedy relief. And Darcy is the sensible, reasonable, down-to-earth one.

one thing that hasn't changed is billy complaining about being famous and the rock star life.

if he's that sick of it i'll trade places for a week or two. I'll spend all day with Nicole and he can sit in a cubicle on the phone all day.

it's not often you get to hear billy talk about the state of the music industry.

i'd feel like a tired old record at this point.

One thing is being pretentious, and and entirely different thing is being a whiny teen who can't keep a conversation without taking every topic personally.

Frenchman: Are you excited about coming to Europe?
Billy: The first time we came here people weren't excited...
Frenchman: Um, I meant, Europeans are excited to tour the US, is it the same for you guys to tour Europe?

Frenchman: So Black Sabbath...
Billy: You're asking stupid questions. You see, you manipulate info, the media is controlled.
Frenchman: Ok, yeah, I guess...

Frenchman: Speaking about techno, you come form Chicago...
Billy: We don't wanna talk about it because people are isolated.

Also the bit about the stupid heart symbolism was painful to watch.

Yeah. it is definitely Manchester. the large sandstone-coloured building at the extreme left at 0:25 is the Arndale shopping centre. the long building with the clock tower at 1:00 is the town hall. looks like the interview took place somewhere in the vicinity of Deansgate, where the Boardwalk was situated. the University is quite some way off. i actually lived in the city in '92 and remember it quite well - not like today when i typically have enough recollection to get lost going from A to B :)
