hipsters are just recycling the same old junk from the 80's.

Nik Kershaw is next to be top of the hit parade.

i suppose it would be moon martin for me. almost all of his songs sound like something you've heard before, but in a lot of cases he did the original. total pop genius.

but if you want to talk about the slickest of the slick AM friendly radio production while still being ultra jaded and hipster cynic look no further:

For men, this is how music should be expressed to the woman they love. Not i want you to bang me b#tch...? Thats not even how love works.

typical netphoria discussion here - lots of armchair finger pointing with little to no hard evidence or proof of research

that glossy aor sound venturing into radio disco & am funk is so inoffensive what's to hate. pay close attention to the lyrics guys.

i never said there was anything wrong with them. i've just noticed a trend in these throwback bands and wanted to know if anyone else had, too.

same thing with steely dan.

it's not surprising, they're good songs, but it's hard not to roll my eyes when yet another SanFran kid busts out a hall&oates vinyl

it's a quandry

Trotskilicious

i mean i think that answers itself, it's the inoffensiveness that is loathesome

Trotskilicious
03-15-2012, 09:21 PM
also the way they ruined the sax

Trotskilicious

it's only now starting to recover with songs like Coronado by Deerhunter and Midnight City by M83

idk trots i'm really into donald fagen and nile rodgers lately and those dudes are the kings of polishing rock into elevator music.

i can appreciate that sort of thing. i'm over atonality for the most part.

hall and oates has been a running gag for at least 5 years now. they're one of those groups that everybody knows but nobody actually listens to.

well i'm not specifically advocating atonality i'm just not advocating things that are inoffensive which to me is a synonym for bland

eh, mainly just H&O, steely dan, and journey. southern rock might be next.

not saying it's a bad thing. you put it well saying people know it but dont really listen to it. i enjoy the songs but i can't say i know anything about them. so when i heard 3 people reference them in a month i thought i was missing something.
