the last time they broke up they each stopped following each other on twitter. They went twitter silent on each other for 5 months. it corresponded to the recording of the new album....

which we will never hear.

I was at the LA show and some people were surprised to see Jessica there since it was known that they had broken up or were on a break or whatever. I assumed they broke up again now because they stopped tweeting to each other again and Billy did not go to Australia for the holidays with her like he said he was. He spent it alone in Chicago.

My bet is that the album is coming out in May, if they are still aiming for spring, or September. I would not be surprised if they are planning on coinciding its release with MCIS to help boost sales and exposure.

How do ya know for sure they broke up though?

A few of the interviews during the earlier part of the tour made it fairly obvious.

I would, but I am far too lazy right now. Some of them were print and some of them were video. He did not go into great detail about it too much, but the death of Mark Tulin and his relationship troubles were the main inspiration for the album.

1) so, because the odd person may not be able to buy both on the same day, this means that the audience is to be split.

2) you're typing stupid things.

there are many times i have picked up two things, put one back down again, bought the remaining thing and never gone back to buy the other.

my guess is that most people no longer give a shit about latter-day SP, so the best chance for a new album is to promote it alongside something once-popular/beloved, e.g. a mellon collie reissue

'90s teenagers are now late 20s or early 30s, and probably not yet tied down with children or mortgages, so should on average have a good amount of disposable income. dot dot dot cross-promotion makes sense, and mickyshambles has the right of it

i suppose it was "dumb" too when they released vieuphoria and re-released gish at the same time, and their audience was "split".

those two products at least have something to do with each other i.e. they are from roughly the same time period of the band.

whereas i think we can all agree that oceania has nothing to do with mcis

How ironic of him.

how about now

It is a combination of laziness and not having a lot of free time. You could try looking through Hipsters or Monte's blog. Crestfallen probably has most of them in the archive. The downside to that is that you would have to visit Monte's blog.

my guess is that most people no longer give a shit about latter-day SP, so the best chance for a new album is to promote it alongside something once-popular/beloved, e.g. a mellon collie reissue

This is what I meant. Coinciding the release with the reissue would boost the exposure the band would receive in the mainstream media. It would assist in letting old fans know that the band is still around and introduce the band to a new audience via the exposure. MCIS was considered a monumental album and there is going to be a lot of positive attention showered onto it, just like they did with SD.

Safe bet is yes, he does believe it is about aliens. Back when he had his shit spiritual blog he posted a link to a quack and then went on about how ancient Egyptians were aliens that had advanced technologies, more advanced than the ones we have today even.

the conspiracy thing is new but that's because conspiracy theories are mainstream now somehow

all that other stuff has been there for a while, he's a recovering catholic so the jesus stuff has been there from the start ("i am one as you are three", look at the back of gish ffs)

i really think characterizing him as conservative and tea partier is incorrect. I mean seriously do you think b. corg hates gays and pines for the glory days of President Cowboy? i think he's just an average american dumbass aka the independent, undecided voter

No, but I find that a surprising amount of his views are far more right leaning that his actions or past indicated. He leans left on some issues but leans right on a lot of others as well. He is a supporter of Ron Paul, which fits his left and right leanings. I say tea partier because I remember him posting some articles in support of them on his twitter some time back.

A LOT of those who came of age in the 80's/early 90's and had some degree of success with their lives seemed to turn Libertarian right. Is it a surprise, really? Be inherently very suspicious of any institution which can exercise power, authority, or control, prize individuality and independence above group ethic, do whatever the hell you want to pursue your own interests, and owe society nothing in particular...this is the mentality of a lot of X-ers I have known. I think it had something to do with coming of age in the Reagan era and/or to baby boomer parents who brought their own unique mentality to parenting. Not that all of that is wrong...a lot of it rings true with me at least on a visceral level. Growing up I was libertarian-right. Now I suppose I would characterize myself as progressive libertarian left, however. I'm not comfortable with where our society is in danger of heading, but I still don't drink so damned much conspiracy theory kool-aid that I lose sleep at night tossing and turning over concern for lack of a gold standard. My answer to fear of big, authoritarian governments taking over my life is not simply to replace those power structures with big, authoritarian corporations (which is basically what is happening now and seems to be what a lot of people on the right are in effect advocating)--either path is equally horrific. The degree to which corporate interests have come to control public policy and law at every level of government is so fucking blatant nowadays I don't know how anyone could rationalize the "goodness" of how his has turned out.

i think both of you are thinking way more about billy's political beliefs than he ever has

he's a political dipshit, is what i'm trying to say

ron paul has A LOT of undecided dipshit support because he is against the grain and undecided dipshits generally like that these days

not to say that ron paul has exclusively undecided dipshits, i'm just saying, they're part of the picture.

however i am kind of scared to ask the people who actually follow this shit: does he talk about jews a lot?

I've never heard billy express a coherent political perspective. Like his religious beliefs, it's seems like nothing but a collection of nonsense. As if he comes upon each and every issue in complete isolation, never asking himself whether his support of one thing makes any sense at all when compared to any other thing he believes in.

he believes in Jesus, but also astrology and seemingly every other hippy pseudo religious trapping. Nevermind that Jesus wouldn't be down with that. He says he's "enlightened" like a good liberal, even supporting Nicole's gay friendly agenda, but then he goes off occasionally with anti gay slurs on twitter.

LOL, no comment.

And yeah, Billy's beliefs as a whole are actually rather incoherent.

And in regards to Ron Paul and jews...as far as I know he's never said anything explicitly to that effect, but he clearly has had a great deal of support from "those types" that like to talk about New World Order, ZOG, world monetary control, etc. For what it's worth as a matter of history and culture Jews have been involved disproportionately in the monetary system, banking, etc. and its intellectual underpinnings at the institutional levels but obviously there are also a billion examples of Jews using their tradition of scholarship to fight for rights and protections of relatively economically and socially disenfranchised groups as well as shameless WASP capitalists (and mormons, too...soon to give the jew stereotype a run for its money I'll bet) that have no problem screwing gramps out of his retirement pension so that ever increasing amounts are funneled into "the private markets."

actually ron paul has written multiple racist things about blacks in newsletters from a while back, but we're not talking about ron paul

Trotskilicious
02-02-2012, 12:59 AM
by the way the reason jewish people have the leverage they do is because during the industrial revolution the major sources of wealth were jewish enclaves the churches, and the noble houses

noble houses felt business was beneath them, the church is interested in enriching itself, so the jews were the only people with the financial muscle to actually act on this, they became economically dominant and then there was the anti-semetic backlash across europe in the late 19th century because the nobility got jealous, and it eventually culminated in the Final Solution

if Oceania isn't modestly successful then SP will never be commercially credible again. he's bigged it up (great band chemistry, focus of recording an album, feeling of being SP again) so that's it's difficult to see how he can make excuses if it fails. of course he has previous form for this kind of thing (Adore: no Jimmy, Machina: Virgin, Zwan: er, the band, Zeitgeist: forget, but he made an excuse somewhere, TbK: flawed release strategy etc), so if Oceania makes no impact idk how he rationalizes it.

if Oceania flops, he's already said he'll have to re-evaluate what direction SP goes from there. personally i'd like to see him take a year out of recording and put together a proper CD release of pre-Gish material and also the great Zwan songs that didn't make it onto MSotS. of course, this won't happen, which is kind of too bad.

I think it's real...here's his 'Resistance Pro Statement' >>>

Ok, so, I apologize for using my Twitter and alienating probably like 78% of my followers with my thoughts, er, continual thoughts on Resistance Pro; the wrestling promotion based out of Chicago that features Billy Corgan as their Creative Director. I used Twitter to create a public forum to showcase all the wrong that is Resistance Pro in the hopes that Billy would wake-up to who he is in business with.

Today I was personally attacked by the Baron Brothers and really I am just over it. These guys haven’t done a thing but spend money and buy their way into the wrestling business. The story in Business Week is awful. The story basically said they have sunk $35k into 3-shows and Billy has matched that. Right there is enough, to me, to realize why they went after Billy to be part of their fed. These two guys are just gross and sickening human beings full of negative energy and overzealous glee. These are the kind of guys that keep the wrestling business in just an awful state. These guys are indicative of the reasons I left the wrestling business a year and half ago. The grass was indeed greener on the other side.

When we did a series of angles with Billy in ECW we did it because we loved him and he loved us. We got him a ton of press and he is forever grateful to us for that. The Baron Brothers are taking advantage of him and I wish I wish I wish I wish Billy could see that but he cannot. Billy believes the best in people to a fault. These guys are no different from any promoter that has ever stiffed one of the boys, promised big pay days, lied about the houses, or skipped out on their shows before paying everyone out. It’s all BS and them using ECW to establish themselves is inhumane.

So, sorry for using Twitter to try to help a friend, however I had no other choice.

Thanks for your patience and for those 22% that got what I was saying I appreciate your support.

Now, back to normal…whatever that is

People who are diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder use splitting as a central defense mechanism. According to psychoanalyst Kernberg, “the normal tension between actual self on the one hand, and ideal self and ideal object on the other, is eliminated by the building up of an inflated self concept within which the actual self and the ideal self and ideal object are confused. At the same time, the remnants of the unacceptable images are repressed and projected onto external objects, which are devalued.”[16]

The merging of the "inflated self concept" and the "actual self" is seen in the inherent grandiosity of narcissistic personality disorder. Also inherent in this process are the defense mechanisms of devaluation, idealization and denial.[17] Other people are either manipulated as an extension of one's own self, who serve the sole role of giving "admiration and approval"[18] or they are seen as worthless (because they are unable to collude with the narcissist's grandiosity).

ahem (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder)

ALSO, the GAF score was probably the toughest thing because it's hard to say the guy isn't functioning pretty good (at least in the being a famous millionaire rock star department) for all of the shit he's got going on up top.

If he was a normal non rock star/non millionaire person with all of that stuff going on he would probably be more like a 50.

Since the guy saw a therapist AND got his meds (meaning his problems were formally "medicalized") I'm sure at one of those points that someone performed a genuine psychological evaluation on him. (Of course he could've just gone to a fancy private practice psychotherapist and then gone to his PCP requesting Prozac for his depression or whatever, but I haven't gotten that impression.) From the perspective of a person who once mythologized him to some degree those would be some interesting albeit awkward records to read.

Kerry retweeted the Lou Angeli tweet a few days/weeks ago about how Billy was willing to throw away a friendship from someone he's known for over 20 years. I'm trying to fill in the blanks here with some logic, but it seems that Kerry/Lou were on the same side and warned Billy not to do business with these Resistance Pro people. It's probably more complicated than that, but there's some solid speculation based on tweets. For whatever that's worth.

oh totally. i dont even think gossamer's guess is far off, except its totally ridiculous to give a GAF score to someone you've never met. we dont know how he functions inter-personally on a daily basis, his hygiene habits, and his satisfaction with his life, or how his unhealthy habits affect him (IE if he has pathology but is used to it and functioning with it his GAF score would be higher than if not, even with the same symptoms - gossamer touched on this). We just don't know and it's ridiculous to guess.

But yeah seeing his psych records would be extremely interesting, and extremely unethical of course.

...that reminds me of >>>

The problems in Zwan began early. In the middle of the recording of the bands record debut, Billy Corgan discovered that the guitarist David Pajo was having sex with the producers girlfriend."It was crazy! The producer is my friend and then you've got a band member who's sleeping with his girlfriend.I threathened to fire him - he kept sleeping with her", says Billy Corgan. The sex drama was only the beginning. When Zwan didn't achieve immedieatly commercial success, the newcomers lived the rock myth instead."They began to play bad and did stupid things like bringing drugs over the borders when we was on tour. They didn't care about the music, me or the band, he says.- Didn't you realize it was untenable? "My brain didn't want to understand. My friends told me they were using me, but I didn't want to listen. These were my band members".But Billy became more and more unsatisfied and after two messy years with Zwan he had enough."I woke up and understood I was in the same situation as in Smashing Pumpkins, but with people I didn't love." In the loge (?) after the final concert on the european tour, Billy made an ultimatum."I told them they didn't seem to care a shit about the band and that they had to prove it, if they thought I was wrong", he says.Since then he's heard nothing from them."A year later I got a mail from Matt. The subject line was: "send me money", says Billy Corgan.Today Billy feels ashamed over being involved with the members of Zwan, with the exception of his inseperable friend Jimmy Chamberlin."It was a nightmare that I had created myself. I had invested my heart, money and my credibility. But I really thought that I had put together a good band that would last for long."On his solo debut he has for the first time moved away from the alarming rock and instead aimed for a bare and synth-oriented sound."If I do more guitarbased alternative rock it would sound as Smashing Pumpkins. It was the same problem with Zwan, so I felt it was important to do something different".

They weren't in an on and off relationship. The nature of on and off relationships are different than stable relationships that just don't workout for whatever reason. There are a lot of underlying issues involved. But you're right, not a whole lot of relationships last too long these days but I think that's a complicated topic that doesn't really apply to Billy's particular situation.

Obviously we are both engaging in this topic when we both know it is dumb. I even agree with you he doesn't seem to be able to last in monogamous long term relationships.

The only difference is that at least obesity provides some clear and obvious sign that there is a problem to even the most dense individual, even if they're still too dense to figure out how they ended up that way. As for the media, a lot of people still seem perfectly happy and complacent enough in the security of their own ideological echo chamber to realize that this is a serious problem.

He gets crazier by the minute. What would ever make him think that they were trying to steal song credits? When has Billy ever given them any acknowledgement for contributing to the songs? Billy needs to drop the continual character assassination of the former members. He sounds so fucking petty.

@billy - are you really still trying to be in the wrestling biz bro? You should focus on your music career judging by the stuff I heard

Lou DAngeli ♫ ‏ @LDAngeli
@Billy SP is like an ECW reunion without @HeymanHustle & @THETOMMYDREAMER - We all know Jimmy, James, and Darcy wrote 99% of the music

Lou DAngeli ♫ ‏ @LDAngeli
@Billy you know it's true...is "Oceaniawreck" old recordings that maybe @Courtney wrote with James? Jimmy? Horrible what you have done...

“@Billy: article on our wrestling promotion @RESISTANCE_Pro http://newcity.com/2012/05/10/smashing-the-resistance-billy-corgan-is-back-in-a-whole-new-arena/”. How much longer will you pimp out my name to get PR?

Lou DAngeli ♫ ‏ @LDAngeli
I would also like to thank @RESISTANCE_Pro for allowing us to waste all of @Billy's money WCW style. @theraveneffect and I can't wait.

Lou DAngeli ♫ ‏ @LDAngeli
I'm happy @Billy retweeted me however that is not an invitation for SP fans to follow-me.

Lou DAngeli ♫ ‏ @LDAngeli
I'm also happy @Billy gave me and @theraveneffect the book so we can job his cronies out. Wrestling politics are amazing. So is selling out
