You sound like you need to blow your nose, badly.
Also, I'd probably spring for one of those if they weren't $350.
Sonic Johnny 06-06-2011, 08:11 AM It's a very nice tone but giving ol' man bill a distortion pedal at this point is sort of a huge waste of time. Even if he does use it he's still going to write some godawful bit of Flock Of Seagulls dreck anyway.
Also, nice "Pain" tattoo.
soniclovenoize 06-06-2011, 09:12 AM Was this custom made for Corgan?
Slurpee 06-06-2011, 09:15 AM That does sound pretty sweet.
Space Girl 1979 06-06-2011, 09:27 AM Was this custom made for Corgan?
Yup.
He wanted something classic with the ability to sound more modern... the solution was the dual EQ + ability to blend together what I believe are his two favorite fuzzes. :)
Sonic Johnny 06-06-2011, 09:35 AM Can I suggest that before you send it to him you change the name from "Silver Rose" to "You Need Jimmy Back, Now!" and change the graphic on the box accordingly.
Rider 06-06-2011, 10:45 AM I hope you are getting paid for this.
Space Girl 1979 06-06-2011, 10:46 AM I hope you are getting paid for this.
Let's just put it this way... a lot of interesting things are coming to pass because of this.
Kahlo 06-06-2011, 10:46 AM I hope you are getting paid for this.
This. Or that he offered. Either way, congratulations, you must be pretty happy :)

As in..going into production? The official BC pedal? ;)
Space Girl 1979 06-06-2011, 10:48 AM This. Or that he offered. Either way, congratulations, you must be pretty happy :)
I'm incredibly stoked. Regardless of what the end result is, it was great just having the opportunity to influence the artist who's influenced me so much. :)
Space Girl 1979 06-06-2011, 10:49 AM As in..going into production? The official BC pedal? ;)
It's definitely going into production... now whether or not it becomes the official BC pedal... well... time will tell.
jimmy drevpile 06-06-2011, 11:02 AM I don't get the concept of this pedal at all, sorry; combining two sounds? Couldn't Corgan just use original pedals side by side...?
Space Girl 1979 06-06-2011, 11:08 AM I don't get the concept of this pedal at all, sorry; combining two sounds? Couldn't Corgan just use original pedals side by side...?
Nope.
To recreate this kind of sound would require a mixer, and even then, a quality mixer. It could be done in the studio to a certain degree but would require more work and less portability.
This makes everything extremely convenient.
So instead of having to take the time to rig up a mixer-base-setup with two pedals, and patch cables, and routing this here and that there, and dealing with the introduction of line noise, and then being in the control room vs. right next to the amp when wanting to tweak things... it's all just right-there.
TL;DR - It takes out the hassle of tweaking the perfect pumpkin fuzz tone.
Kahlo 06-06-2011, 11:15 AM Again, pretty fecking happy for you. I'm surprised that no one has done this before, so congrats on creating what appears to be a pretty excellent pedal. If it actually gets used on some tracks then I'm sure you can die happy.
How long did it take to develop the pedal, and any rough ideas what you would sell it for? I have no idea what this would retail at.

Thanks again.
Development was pretty easy... a few weeks. My good friend Ken @ www.infanem.com helped put it together. The guy is an engineering genius.

Venom 06-06-2011, 02:07 PM He better use the son of a bitch, and use it A LOT.

MyOneAndOnly 06-06-2011, 06:10 PM knowing how ol' bill has recorded in the past, i can imagine him recording 50 versions of each guitar track just to hear how variations in the Fuzz impacts the mix of the song. All that tuneability could drive the poor guy crazy! So many dials. So many possibilities.
Caine Walker 06-06-2011, 06:14 PM shit got really good around 3:24.
fucking kudos, that is a killer pedal. : )

isn't that what the Mangler pedal does?
how does this pedal compare to the WorkHorse?
Space Girl 1979 06-06-2011, 11:44 PM isn't that what the Mangler pedal does?
how does this pedal compare to the WorkHorse?
Nah. Mangler was a feedback loop.
Work Horse is a totally different beast. Way woolier and more gated decay.
stumpycat 06-06-2011, 11:58 PM Nope.

The Siamese Dream tone is pretty much nailed, and I assume that is sort of the point, no? Because one of the huge problems with SD was that although the distortion was completely amazing on record, it proved to be more or less non reproducible in the context of a live show where everything had to be loud as hell yet not blow out all the complex tonal nuances. Plus of course you realistically couldn't live overdub multiple tones.

Exactly.
... and if I'm not mistaken, it turns out the Super Fuzz was another go-to fuzz for Mr. Corgan... so really at the end of the day, this is the end-all be-all utility-knife of pumpkin tone as far as pedals go.
The next step would be to do some kind of Marshall emulation as well on the back end... heh.
AveryLoren 06-07-2011, 12:10 AM did you get to meet Richard Z. Kruspe when you sold him some pedals? or is that just a rumor?

I've only ever met JMJ and Robin from NIN as well as Nels Cline in person thus far.
Oh also, the guys from Wire.
... and Paul Barker from Ministry, but he's more of an acquaintance at this point anyhow.
I think that's about it.
dustrock 06-07-2011, 12:23 AM pretty killer pedal

So could you tell us how Billy approached you about this pedal and how you met him? This is the coolest story I've read in years.
Trotskilicious 06-07-2011, 02:14 AM I'm not the only one that thinks this is sexy right

Kahlo 06-07-2011, 04:26 AM I'm guessing "the french guy" is Jerome. Thanks for sharing the story - that was pretty interesting. I love the ideal of tailoring pedals to the sound the artist wants, that must feel pretty rewarding :)
Anyway, Netphorian hero of the year is you.

Yeah... Jerome. :)
... and yeah, this is all kinds of fun and crazy for me. :)
ESPECIALLY if we end up doing more for him!
Kahlo 06-07-2011, 04:31 AM God knows how you get anything done with all those cats around. Has Hipsters United picked up on this yet?

Ha ha.... yea, my cats are good time fun.
... and HU? Meh... nothing against them, but I actually think Monte's blog is going to be the next big thing in Pumpkins news info... say what you will about him, but being the super fan he is, he's on top of shit.
Hell... up until his blog I was getting better info from Netphoria than anywhere else, including HU.
... so yeah, no, they haven't picked it up, and I even emailed them about it...
Kahlo 06-07-2011, 04:41 AM Oh well, fuck them then. I'm not heartless enough to visit Monte's blog.
Shallowed 06-07-2011, 04:52 AM Lots of really cool sounds here, even when it's just 100% mix of either effect. At around 7:40 it even sounded like there was a pitch shifter in the chain too.

Yeah, the Super Fuzz actually does octave up when you roll back on the gain. :)
RenewRevive 06-07-2011, 03:28 PM interesting story. thanks for posting.
lol at '94 being like 10 years ago...if only :(
MonteLDS 06-07-2011, 05:28 PM thanks for the v-log. it was very nice and I just love how real you are in this video. you are an excited fan to be doing something mind blowing.

Jesus fucking christ it's a vlog, not a fucking v-log. Do you type b-log? No, Monte you type "hey everybody check out Montes new illiterate blog."
I've got quite a few of Devi's regular production pedals, two custom dual pedals and the WorkHorse, love em.
if someone bumps this thread in august, i'll let you know how this Rose fuzz is once i've received it.

DaveKShape 06-07-2011, 09:39 PM non-terrible thread.
duovamp 06-07-2011, 10:33 PM I might pay 250 for it, but 350 is pretty rough... Any chance I could get a discount if I send additional pictures of my or someone else's genitalia?

Do you have any kind of website or online store with all your pedals? I've seen that Rocket pedal before, but I had no idea you were who made it.. Very impressed with your work. Great job! Let me know how I can get my hands on a Rocket pedal!

didn't know that was a devi ever pedal.

august? are they sending it by camel?
they're not even build yet & I doubt parts are even ordered.
a 3 month wait for a boutique pedal isn't very long compared to others.
Pedals will ship by August 5th, 2011 (http://www.deviever.com/fx/biggest-fuzz/silver-rose/)

Word. This first batch is being hand made from scratch and they're not exactly cheap or quick to build.
bahnzah 06-08-2011, 02:30 PM if i ever became professionally involved with billy the last place i'd ever post about it is fucking netphoria.
MyOneAndOnly 06-08-2011, 02:33 PM billy says "fuzz testing" today. must be the Silver Rose
duovamp 06-08-2011, 06:15 PM Has the ship sailed on my pricing question?

Unfortunately the pedal is a day late. Tomorrow though... it will definitely be there tomorrow.
Space Girl 1979 06-08-2011, 11:26 PM if i ever became professionally involved with billy the last place i'd ever post about it is fucking netphoria.
Netphoria isn't exactly a back woods Pumpkin fan site... and the people here aren't exactly complete idiots.
Netphoria is the darkness missing on many of the other forums... and whether whoever gives a shit about this place, it's a needed balance to the pumpkin's fan base.
It's like the dark side of the force... and uh... someone here will bring balance by getting in an epic debate over the quality of pumpkin material with someone who turns out to be their father.
or something...
Venom 06-08-2011, 11:37 PM Hey, at least we voice our own opinions without sugar coating it and kissing Billy's ass. Come to the dark side, we have cookies and women... or she-males in Monte's case.
RenewRevive 06-09-2011, 08:00 AM Netphoria...and the people here aren't exactly complete idiots.
hey now! let's not be too hasty.

danondorf 06-09-2011, 02:33 PM This thing looks and sounds fucking ace. Will definitely order soon. Is there a cutoff for orders? How many will be able to be shipped on August 5th?
antiskum 06-10-2011, 12:36 AM i won't lie, this sounds fucking rad
if i get some spare dollars, i'm def placing an order
Kahlo 06-10-2011, 03:10 AM GET BACK TO THE OBOARD!!
Shallowed 06-10-2011, 07:19 AM Jesus, that story could have been condensed a bit. You sure are a talker.
You didn't seem to be nearly as excited about Kevin Shields (Kevin Shields!!) using your pedals as you did for Billy.
Gish08 06-11-2011, 06:02 AM Holy shit, Hummer sounds totally legit. Nice work.
