I do so solemnly swear to punch people in the genitals when they hold their phone up to take blurry pictures or terrible video at a concert.

Signed

(by the way this dumb girl tole me that Michael Gira of Swans got down offstage to shout at someone who had their phone out, see why Swans is fucking awesome?)

why limit this to concerts

Trotskilicious
05-10-2011, 07:46 PM
because it doesn't block my view of the thing and generally detract from the experience

a photo i took of someone taking a photo. how me[i]ta. when i do shoot concerts i do make sure to not get in people's way, though. either crouched down in the front row, or standing on chairs against a wall.

mooney you've mentioned that you feel colorless and then you make a post like that desscribing how you took a photo and blows everyone away.

i don't mind people holding up their phone to take pictures. what really grinds my gears is when as soon as THE HIT starts, one third of the audience holds up their phones and records video until they run out of memory. :dammit:

Trotskilicious

yeah there's that too but i haven't been to a concert with a band that has a hit song since...well the pumpkins really. I hate when people have their flash on.

Do you not mind it because you don't know any differently Mooney? I'm honestly asking that not to be insulting but it may be a generation gap. Do you remember when nobody even had cell phones period? Let alone camera and video recording smart phones.

i had friends in high school that had pagers.

i mean smart phones didn't even really come into play until the middle part of the aughts so i think we all remember when a bunch of jagoffs didn't need to record blurry crappy video of their favorite band

security was giving people a hard time at the pixies show for filming/taking pictures.

that mostly bothers me just because of the awkwardness of it.. or sadness. Not just concert but any live event, especially sport, ESPECIALLY regular season sport...take your picture and then sit down and enjoy the game you robot, all those picture are just going to start looking the same anyway buddy, just a bunch of colored shirts with number on them in stupid poses

I was too wrapped up in game 7 habs/bruins to take pictures but I'll admit I'm glad my friend brought her camera, but still.. speaking from experience, unless you have a really great camera your not going to get many pictures that are going to do anything other than sit in some file on your laptop or in a lonely facebook album

Trotskilicious

bingo, keepsakes are nice but we've managed to debase the photograph by having camera phones and flickr and facebook so people are just relentlessly taking pictures

i don't have a problem with people taking pictures. who cares? it's only a few seconds and you can actually get some pretty great shots from phone cameras these days, so go for it i say. i would totally take pictures at gigs if i could ever remember that i have a camera in my pocket.

video on the other hand could be an issue if it obstructs people's views for relatively long periods of time. it's never bothered me but i can see why it'd be an issue for others

what's much worse than either is people singing along loudly. that's far more worthy of genital molestation.

I'm more pissed that I have to sort through countless shitty mobile phone videos to find the good vids of concerts (shot with real cameras) that I want to watch on youtube.

at least at the old SP live shows video camera phones weren't around yet, or there would literally be millions more shitty videos on youtube from the SD-MCIS era.

i'm an old man so if i'm at a show i am most likely in the balcony area/way out of the way of the normal crowd. and if i take pictures i'm almost always literally in no one's way at all.

What is the history of eunuchs? Like when did is start and how did they know the testicles were the alleged source for the voice change? Did they know about hormones then? Never mind I can add to my list of "shit to google when bored"..
