Radiohead's most recent album, The King of Limbs, was surprisingly short, leading some to speculate that a companion piece would quickly follow it. But now BBC 6 Music reports that this isn't the case; The King of Limbs will have no immediate sequel. Talking to 6 Music, guitarist Ed O'Brien said, "There are [other] songs that we have started, that we never finished, but there's not like seven or eight finished songs waiting in the wings to be released now, or in the autumn, or something... When we start a new record, we tend to start afresh. It's kind of an evolutionary thing-- only the fittest survive."
As previously reported, Radiohead will release a new single for Record Store Day (April 16, this Saturday), featuring two new songs, "The Butcher" and "Supercollider". O'Brien told 6 Music that those are the final tracks from the King of Limbs sessions that the band will release: "'The Butcher' is from the King of Limbs sessions. 'Supercollider' was recorded during that period and finished off after the album came out."
"Supercollider" has made appearances in the band's live set over the past few years. Below, watch a 2008 performance of the song in Ireland.
Probably a good thing. The King of Limbs is my favorite Radiohead album, and one that I think many will appreciate many years later more so then they do now. The two new songs in the same vein as TKoL excites me. But I don't want them to continue to branch off of that and eventually diminish it. Those that don't get TKoL will get it one day, but those of us that do, we appreciate it for the greatness that it is.
It at least sounds like we wont have to wait 4 years for the next record. I'm thinking 1-2 years.

Listening to a solid-quality rip.
Supercollider is really pretty. The Butcher is groovy and brooding. Both are solid. If I were to stick them into TKOL, I'd put The Butcher near the beginning (first or second) and Supercollider near the end (either before or after Seperator).

Banana,
LOL at it being your favorite radiohead record. We could say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but if I had to bet I would just say that you have an uneducated taste in music, just as your mediocre boarding.

You're the one with the uneducated taste in music that you are unable to fully appreciate The King of Limbs.
Listening to the two new songs right now. Midway through Supercollider so far and loving it.

By the way, these songs play into These Are My Twisted Words perfectly.
Going to go ahead and put that and Harry Patch (In Memory Of) on the same itunes album.

Record Store Day
You may have heard that tomorrow we will be releasing two tracks, Supercollider and The Butcher on 12" vinyl through participating stores for Record Store Day.
This vinyl will also be available in the USA & Canada on the 14th June.
Unfortunately, due to err…unforeseen circumstances that we didn't foresee, some of the vinyl have the labels on the wrong way around. It is too late to recall the vinyl and stick them on the right way round, so here is a copy of the labels for those of you who wish to download, print, cut out and stick on yourself with pritt stick (other glues are available) thus correcting the error. Or we could just rename the songs.
Apologies for any confusion caused and have a happy Record Store Day.

i'm not sure if you're serious but i'd recommend this order, for no particular reason aside from that it feels RIGHT:
OK Computer
The Bends
Kid A
In Rainbows
Hail to the Thief
Amnesiac
King of Limbs

You could listen to them in different orders depending how you react to OK Computer.
If you want more of the same, listen to In Rainbows. In my opinion it's the most similar album of theirs to OK Computer.
If you want something more rocky, listen to The Bends.
If you want something where the electronic/minimalism componant has been adapted to the nth degree, listen to Kid A then Amnesiac.
Hail to the Thief is a bit of a wild card. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I'm not really crazy about any of the songs after the second half.
Everything that has been said about Pablo Honey is true. I've found the only way to enjoy it is to take it for what it is. It still has some incredible songs on it.

The King of Limbs is wonderful, but it is in fact way too short.
The Butcher and Supercollider are so incredible! They definitely should have been put on the album. If they were, the King of Limbs just may have been a contender for their best album.

Right, that's most of you covered, apologies to those we've missed out ... ok, so here are two tracks for your listening pleasure:
Supercollider and The Butcher. We released these as a limited edition 2 track 12inch vinyl to mark Independent Record Store Day last Saturday, April 16 ... so in case you missed out and didn't get a copy here they are.
It's a thank you for being SO supportive of what we do ...
p.s. This is not part of a new loyalty points scheme, a Radiohead clubcard or even an air miles redeemable reward type thing...
It is just a big old-fashioned thank you!
Hope your Spring/Autumn is good.

FYI... 'The Butcher' was recorded and mixed during 'The King of Limbs' sessions, but we couldn't make it work on the album; 'Supercollider' was started during those sessions and finished off in March of this year.

Yeah, I just logged into my account on TKOL site and boom, a link to the two tracks. I ordered the newspaper album, so I'm guessing this was for everyone who did that...though I can't say that with complete certainty.
For all who didn't...well, there's always sendspace.

When I burned the songs onto a CD, I decided to put The Butcher after Little By Little and Supercollider after Give Up The Ghost. The Butcher fits in well with the songs at the beginning of the album, while Supercollider IMHO leads into Separator really well and also livens up the second half of the album a bit.

l'll try that, but I don't really like those songs that much...
How I cued it up is These Are My Twisted Words before Bloom and Harry Patch after Separater, as both seem like a better opener and closer and sandwiches the album nicely.
