General Usage and Etiquette

FAQ

Before registering, be sure to peruse the netphoria FAQ section for general questions, or user maintenance.

New Users
It is expected that these rules are read and understood before one registers to this forum. New users may have to undergo moderation before being permitted to post.

Rookie members are newly registered who have been moderated, and activated registration. Rookie members are permitted to reply to posts, however will have limited private message capacity, and are unable to view forum attachments, and user profiles. After composing twenty-five legitimate posts, the user will automatically be able to post threads.

COPPA Law
Netphoria complies with COPPA - Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Children under the age of 13 are required to gain parental consent before registering. For more information on COPPA, please follow this link: http://www.coppa.org/

Posting Guidelines and Information
Inappropriate Posts
Please refrain from meaningless threads, nonsensical posts, and using excessive profanity in subject titles of threads. Inappropriate posts may also *******, but are not limited to flaming other users, spamming and/or trolling threads, racism or discrimination of any kind, threats, plot spoilers, excessive sexual references, rude or insulting posts. Off topic posts may be removed at the discretion of the moderators and administrators.

Do not post links to material that is pornographic, contains nudity, or violence, or otherwise violates forum standards. If you are unsure, or need a specification, please contact a moderator, or an administrator.

As a common courtesy to fellow members and staff, please avoid publicly discussing the bans of other members. If you have any questions, please contact a moderator.

Posting of Media - Photos or Video
Any video posted should not violate any copyright laws. Videos posted should not exceed 640x480 in size.
Photos posted should not be over 600x800. If videos or images are larger than specified sizes, they should be linked to their source website and not embedded.
Posting inappropriate video or photos may lead to a loss of forum privileges.

Multiple posts
What is commonly referred to as "double posting" - to increase your post count is generally discouraged.

Try to refrain from "bumping" old threads for trivial or meaningless reasons. Some exceptions may be made if the "bump" is relevant to the topic of the thread. If a thread is bumped for no discernible reason, it may closed, and the user responsible will be issued a warning.

Posting Content and Forum Usage

General Content
Discussion or public distribution of illegal piracy of software, music, movies or other violations of intellectual property is prohibited. Bear in mind that Netphoria is an official site owned by Smashing Pumpkins management.

Please post in a respectful manner. Netphoria contains numerous VIPs, and other individuals involved with Saw, therefore it is expected that users treat those who chose to volunteer their time here in a respectful manner.

It is expected that all users show proper respect to one another, regardless of race, creed, gender, or forum "status".

Searching the Forum

All users, new and old are expected to use the Search feature located at the top of the forum before creating a new thread. If a thorough search is made, and no relevant results are yielded, then a thread may be made. The search feature requires practice before it is perfected, therefore veteran users are encouraged to show patience, and support with new users who may still be working out the kinks.

Multiple User-names/User-name changes

Each user is permitted one log-in account. If it is determined that a user has created another user-name to bypass a suspension, there may be additional discipline.

Some users may consider registering a new account to obtain a user-name change. If you would like to request a user-name change, please contact an administrator.

Lost or Forgotten Passwords/Updating Profile Information

If you have previously registered an account, and have forgotten or lost your password, please follow this link to recover your log-in information.

If your e-mail address has changed, or you wish to modify your profile information, please do so in your User CP.

The Report Post Feature
The "Report Post Feature" found in the top right hand corner of the post can be used to notify the staff of content that needs to be addressed immediately. Please use this feature in moderation - if content is more than several days to weeks old and isn't directly disturbing the peace of the forum, then don't bother notifying the staff.

Advertising Services and Solicitation

Guidelines
Explicit advertising and solicitation on the forum is prohibited. This includes promoting products and services in threads, and signatures.

Links to sites such as eBay, My Props, Amazon etc. are permitted, as long a price for the content isn't directly advertised here. If you are uncertain about whether or not your content may violate the rules, please do not hesitate to contact an administrator, or moderator.

Signatures, Avatars and Profile Pictures

Signatures
Links or promotional text for a website that is not commercial and does not violate Netphoria forum rules are permitted. The moderators and administrators shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

The maximum length for signatures is 150 characters. Signatures may only be a size 2 font or smaller. Large signatures will be edited/deleted. Overly large Signatures are an eye-sore to other forum members (especially mobile users.)

Avatars and Profile Pictures
The maximum size of avatars and profile pictures is 100 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

Sexual, or illegal content is not allowed, and may be removed without warning. This includes bootleg media captured on a hand-held device while in the movie theater.

Any avatar that contains "leaked", or unauthorized material will removed.

Registered Members

Registered members have full access to the forums - including creating threads, viewing user profiles and attachments, the calendar and events, and the members list.

Addendum

The Netphoria staff reserve the right to update, and modify these rules as necessary to ensure the forum is operated successfully.

By registering, users agree to these rules, and acknowledge that he or she will not violate these standards.

The moderators and administrators of this forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
