We're going over to Jeremy's dad's house...I'll probably drink some of my favorite wine and hopefully cheer on the Steelers while they win the game!
I'm working...all those pizza's and wings won't make themselves, ya know.
We'll be eating chips and dip...salsa and chips too.
We had wings for the playoff, so I doubt we'll do that again.
I bet we order some pizzas Toby! ;)
2 topping large for only 5.99....order three or more and we'll bring em right to yer doorstep!
That is an awesome deal...Are your larges pretty big?
Not bad. Not a Wally's large, but not bad.

Let's just say I'll be handling my pigskin and/or running it up my middle to those tight butts bouncing in the air. I don't know about the rest of these dudes tho.
duovamp 02-05-2011, 06:08 PM Also I can't imagine anybody watching baseball to see hot dudes. ...It's a bunch of mustachioed 40-year-old guys with bellies standing around in baggy shirts. At least in fuhball you have tight pants, exposed rippling biceps, and guy-on-guy action.

I am comfortable enough with my knowledge of the game to not feel the need to prove it on the internet, and it is fun to talk about who is attractive with your friends.
Trotskilicious 02-05-2011, 06:38 PM you thought the patriots were a sure thing for the SB

Sepiae 02-05-2011, 07:15 PM I guess Eli was on the radio on Friday and he suggested the Patriots might not have taken them entirely seriously in that game? I'm not quite sure; my friend was telling me about. Just kind of interesting since Bob Kraft was just criticizing the game plan against the Jets and calling one of Brady's passes where he was intercepted "lazy."

Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 10:51 AM tob mrady is a buhgina
duovamp 02-07-2011, 11:18 AM Don't you dare use such language when speaking of The Passing One.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 11:20 AM Tom Brady's leadership abilities make up for his physical deficiencies. There is a reason he was a 7th round draft pick, and that has everything to do with his natural toolset.
You see who can throw a football thru a froot loop at 50 yards and you'll find it's aaron rodgers
duovamp 02-07-2011, 11:23 AM His offense was in shambles for quite a bit there tbh. Not that the Steelers didn't make three huge game-losing mistakes that were well capitalized upon, but he didn't look too leadery under pressure. I could be wrong here, and I'm not saying they were a worse team than the Steelers were, because the Packers clearly won that game... But I don't think he's that great of a QB. Better than Ben? Oh sure. Better than Mr. Brady Himself? Eeeehhhh...
duovamp 02-07-2011, 11:30 AM I'll admit I don't know enough about the game to separate a QB from his support, so that could easily be the case here where I'm seeing the offense as a whole rather than just the QB in these instances. So I'll take your word for it that he's an excellent player.
duovamp 02-07-2011, 11:30 AM Possibly even better than St. Brady.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 11:30 AM dude you are self-admittedly a football layman. We are talking about pure physical tools and the fact that Tom Brady is on the down side of 30 at this point and Rodgers has much more physical ability even if they were both 25 years old. His arm is stronger, his spirals are tighter, his footwork more fleet. The only possible edge I'd give Brady is leadership, but honestly I dunno if he even really has that on him.
besides the fact that you're looking at this through homer eyes, GB was in control of that game the entire time and that's because of those first quarter TDs from Rodgers. I don't even know that they ever trailed, even when the Squealers would make a run, the Packers (without a running game mind you) would just put some more points on the board.
and yeah it has something to do with the offense but the GB passing offense seems to be one of the best in the nfl and that's because it takes a great quarterback to really make it tick.
yo soy el mejor 02-07-2011, 12:14 PM i hope all the assholes are out of dallas by now.
sppunk 02-07-2011, 12:16 PM GB never trailed.
Physical tools wise, Rodgers is probably tops (Romo is maybe close). Jay Cutler is probably up there too ... lol.

i don't know how much rodgers had to do with the INT return for a touchdown.
but, he played pretty well against a great defense. and that 3rd and 10 pass was about as clutch as it gets.
if i were starting a team and had my pick of QBs, i'd probably take Rodgers.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 12:59 PM i'd take vick but i'm a lunatic
Tchocky 02-07-2011, 01:20 PM Rodgers is the only Jeff Tedford-bred QB that has succeeded in the NFL. I think the difference between him and Tedford flops like Joey Harrington, Akili Smith, etc., was that Rodgers was able to spend three years being groomed under Brett Favre and two years learning Mike McCarthy's system before being thrown into the fire. Early in his NFL career he looked terrible in spot duty and seemed to always be snakebitten by injuries. I think he's a perfect example of how a team should develop a QB. He had the raw talent coming out of college; he just needed time to refine it and get used to playing in a pro-style system before being fed to the wolves.
I think if Harrington had had the time to develop that Rodgers did (not to mention an offensive line worth a damn), he'd have turned out okay. Ditto David Carr.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 01:23 PM matt ryan?
Tchocky 02-07-2011, 01:28 PM del: I see what yr saying. Ryan I think is more the exception than the rule.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 01:31 PM you're totally correct, the reason why Ryan and Sanchez worked out is because they were plugged into systems that were already built to win football games
not Akili Smith SAVE THE BENGALS BY YOURSELF or whatever. conventional wisdom needs to be blown apart. there's nothing to benefit when you have a loser team and you draft a good quarterback, you usually only end up ruining his career and life. Carolina's going to draft and ruin another quarterback and be stuck in shithole land for the foreseeable decade.
I mean you could get lucky like the Cowboys or whatever and draft your whole team over a few years but we've seen that blueprint fail more often than not.

FWIW, on almost any other team Sanchez would be a mediocre QB. His stat line isn't particularly impressive. He's fortunate that he landed on a team like the Jets that has a damn good (albeit somewhat aging) O-line, a good running game, a decent receiving corps and a badass defense. I'd take Ryan over him any day (minus the choking in big games part of him). And yeah, Ryan succeeded early because out of the gate he had a good O-line, Michael Turner to hand off the ball to and Roddy White and later Tony Gonzalez to throw to.
I think Carolina will be okay once they find a decent QB. I mean, they've still got a a bit of talent on defense (losing Julius Peppers last season to FA hurt though) and their running game was solid in the seasons leading up to this past one, when it was banged-up. The problem in Carolina is they had no contingency plan for Jake Delhomme getting old (Jimmy Clausen sucks), and their WR corps outside of Steve Smith is a joke. Fix those problems and they should be fine.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 01:56 PM i was a big doubter of Sanchez but he plays pretty well when it counts, re: v. Colts.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 01:57 PM btw eulogy says that Jimmy Claussen is really super duper good

Tchocky 02-07-2011, 02:07 PM Not to be a Homero myself, but I think the biggest difference between the Lions being contenders and sucking again next season will be the health of Matthew Stafford. When he was healthy last season, he looked damn good; also, had he not gotten hurt, I fully believe that the Lions would have beaten the Jets this past season. Keep Stafford upright and healthy, add a little more run-blocking talent to Detroit's O-line and add a bit more talent to Detroit's back seven on defense, and the Lions might finally be respectable.
Eulogy 02-07-2011, 02:41 PM btw eulogy says that Jimmy Claussen is really super duper good
no i don't. i said it's too early to deem his career a total failure.
and on one hand you're saying rodgers is only really good because he had time to develop and learn a system and on the other you're saying clausen is obviously worthless when he got put behind the worst team in the league as a rookie.
k.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 02:42 PM no it's not, if he's not cut by next year the panthers are run by retards
guy's bad, he wasn't a winner in college and while he didn't throw a lot of INTs he was especially adept at throwing the ball at the turf for 79 yards a game...
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 02:43 PM also colt mccoy who supposedly doesn't have claussen's "tools" and yet still did better as a rookie starting QB as that blonde moron

68.8% completion rate and 161.43 rating in his last year but ok
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 02:51 PM are you using college stats? did you know vince young had the highest completion % in his his junior year?
does that mean fucking anything? no. 52% completion rate in the pros. Colt McCoy was up around 60% AND THREW FOR MORE YARDS IN FEWER GAMES.
Eulogy 02-07-2011, 02:55 PM you're the one who brought up his college career but ok
i'm not really sure what throwing the ball at the turf for 79 yards a game really means, but he was a very good quarterback in his last year of college. and then he played a year without an offensive line or any WRs or a running game. so the sample here is a bit skewed.
duovamp 02-07-2011, 03:14 PM Black QBs. What happened?

losers are losers forever and ND is like the loser factory

they do pump out NFL-caliber tight ends at a pretty absurd rate though
wHATcOLOR 02-07-2011, 05:11 PM looks like i picked the right team on the poll!!!
wHATcOLOR 02-07-2011, 05:11 PM i voted after the game was over though

Mark Bavaro was indeed a golden god.
Who have you had recently though dude.

Fasano, Carlson, and Rudolph. Their last three first string tight ends.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 05:28 PM who?
lets see, texas has sent bo scaife, dave thomas and Jermichael Finley to the NFL and Finley's better than everyone previously mentioned, even if they combined into some kind of Voltron-like Super Tight End.
Eulogy 02-07-2011, 05:28 PM and they have 2 potential NFL TEs on their roster right now, and a couple (i think) highly regarded TE recruits coming in.
Eulogy 02-07-2011, 05:28 PM who?
NFL tight ends.
Edit: well Rudolph will be drafted. so we'll see. he's projected as late first or early second despite being injured for most of this season.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 05:30 PM are you counting third string long snappers or something
i know Fasano but the others? inconsequential really, since I can point to Texas's last 3 tight ends being on NFL squads too and one of them is actually really fucking good.

No, I'm not. Sorry you're not familiar with all productive tight ends in the NFL. And aren't you on the internet right now?
Eulogy 02-07-2011, 05:39 PM and what does texas also turning out good tight ends have to do with anything
holy shit you're obnoxious
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 06:02 PM because it says nothing special about ND really
Eulogy 02-07-2011, 06:04 PM it says that they produce a lot of nfl-caliber tight ends. which is all i said. but ok you win? i guess?
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 06:08 PM No, I'm not. Sorry you're not familiar with all productive tight ends in the NFL.
carlson had 22 catches that's super productive. Bo Scaife had 36. Advantage Texas
Fasano's on Scaife's level so advantage Texas again, (Finley was hurt last year on the way to a gamebreaking season)
this "rudolph" character seems not to be in the NFL player database, just like dave thomas and i'll give Dave the advantage there too since he caught 10 passes in the National Championship game
OH WAIT SORRY He's Shockey's back up and had more catches than "Carlson" last year.
So given this statistical sample it still looks like ND's a bunch of losers.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 06:09 PM ilu
Eulogy 02-07-2011, 06:10 PM you mean texas has been better than ND over the past decade?
no. way.
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 06:10 PM yeah and we've been pumping out those NFL level tight ends
Trotskilicious 02-07-2011, 06:11 PM most importantly they are better to a man the slowpoke relic blocking TEs that come out of ND
except Mark Bavaro. He is a shining football god.
duovamp 02-07-2011, 06:22 PM i voted after the game was over though
It seems neither of the teams I voted for were in the game... Wish I would've thought that one through a little better.
