does anyone have any info on the Drop C guitars Billy was using during the Machina Era?

I remember reading that he had to get them custom modified and such
but I'm wondering today if they were just baritone necks he was using.

any links would be appreciated.

Yeah, I read that on SPFC. I imagine it's just larger scale so the intonation isn't fucked.

Seems like I remember something about him wanting to use it on Machina but didn't because it was like having to relearn guitar so he ended up not using it. I know he used one on the Adore tour though. He used it for Ava Adore.

When I saw Zwan in '03, Bill pulled out a Reverend for Of A Broken Heart.

didn't Billy play baritone Reverends on the solo tour as well?

there was an article in guitar world magazine that said he used SG specials because of their scale and tuning stability. also liked the grittiness and bite. he did have some custom drop Cs made by reverend and also went back to reverend for the guitars he used on TFE and its tour. james was pictured with a killer looking black/chrome tele in the article. and he played a tele in the everlasting gaze video so they probably employed a tele or two. they are probably the clearest souding guitar, so their signal will still be distinct even when drenched in gain, and fenders have longer scale lengths than gibsons, making them better for tuning down.

you can tune any guitar to C, just use thicker strings if you want.

this website says that Billy started using lace sensors during MCIS era. INCORRECT

Reverend and Hamer.

Is it that hard to check spfc nowadays?

Oh, and the Machina tuning varies. The Imploding voice is in Drop C (about a quarter of a tone sharp, actually) and then The Everlasting Gaze and Heavy Metal Machine are in C standard.

sorry about that.
the scale length is what I was after: 27".
baritone guitars are typically 27"-30"
Fender Jaguar Baritone are 27", i'm surprised he didn't use one of those cause they're really cool.

guess he really liked the Reverend, and did have them make custom Baritone guitars for him.
I just find it funny that he never called them Baritone Guitars, just "custom Guitars" (or did he?)

"Baritone guitar" to me says B standard tuning... BEADF#B. Maybe that's why... also baritone guitar wasn't something that was overly popular at the time, this was around the time 7 string guitars had started to get used a lot on radio and so I think this was perhaps a way to separate SP from that trend.

Those were just cheap guitars for them to break in the video. A cheapo Fender and some Epiphone G310s.
