Smashing Pumpkins Live at Cumberland County Civic Center on 1996-11-04 : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive (http://www.archive.org/details/tsp1996-11-04.flac16)

I mean, listen to Drown. Effortless. 30 seconds of silence in the middle of Siva. The hazy way he sings the second verse of Porcelina! So fucking good, and I don't think they were even trying too hard at this one.

Have you listened to your classic Pumpkins today? The archive is there for you!

If you listen to one thing today, listen to the last 3 minutes of Silverfuck from this show. it's like Stand Inside Your Love, Stumbeline and Drown had a three-way, and then the off-spring got really high.

These shows were great...the early '97 ones are especially tremendous.

god FUCKING damnit!! This show alone proves that

Billy Corgan + James Iha >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Billy Corgan + Jeff Schroeder.

especially Siva. that's some serious improv interplay going on there. balls to the wall energy.

One of the very first things that jumped out at me when I listened to a couple songs from this show was how bad the drumming sounded, and it's not something that usually bugs me (hence why I seem to have a bigger tolerance for Mike Byrne than some people here). It reminded me why I don't listen to shows from this era that often.

Matt Walker was an amazing drummer for SP, but he hadn't gotten there at this point. If we're going to be nostalgic for him, let's at least have the good taste to be nostalgic for the 1997 version where he had actually found his groove.

I don't usually pay all that much attention to the drumming, so everyone should pay special attention to my opinion about the drumming in this one show.

Matt Walker is the drummer for Morrissey now, maybe the Moz is hoarding him?

Matt Walker totally nailed Siva, he's galaxies away from that 10-year old drummer who is in the band now (won't even bother spelling his name).

If your last name sounds like Burn, it should be spelled at such. I'm suprised the fucker doesn't spell Mike 'Myke"

Where did I say I don't pay attention to the drumming? I didn't say any such thing. What I did say is that the drumming has to be really below standard for it to bother me. And in late 1996, there were a lot of moments where the drumming was not up to snuff and it was noticeable...especially by the nitpicky standards people here want to hold Mike Byrne to.

I was at the 10/28/96 show in Michigan. I wish a recording would surface for that show. Grand Rapids is such a shit hole it's one of the few US dates from 2010 without a recording too, at least the last I checked.
