View Full Version : Rockin version of Stumbleine
dustrock 10-12-2010, 11:02 PM This is actually pretty sweet:

Caine Walker 10-12-2010, 11:06 PM playing it that way completely robs the song of any of the charm it has on record.
no thanks.
ilikeplanets 10-12-2010, 11:17 PM yeah
dustrock 10-12-2010, 11:36 PM I think I'd rather hear live like that than have Billy attempt to play it the MCIS way.
ilikeplanets 10-12-2010, 11:38 PM What a sad two choices..
Deric 10-12-2010, 11:44 PM I kinda like it
slunken 10-12-2010, 11:47 PM what a lazy sloppy adaptation
Luke de Spa 10-12-2010, 11:55 PM isn't this how they played it on the adore tour
brendo_91 10-13-2010, 12:36 AM isn't this how they played it on the adore tour
This - except this is full electric, no acoustics, and no piano.
redbreegull 10-13-2010, 12:56 AM kind of like it. more interesting than playing the old songs the same way we have heard them for over a decade. I know Bill is old, but can he seriously not move at all during shows anymore? Lame. Also, what is with the added line at the end
slunken 10-13-2010, 12:57 AM so that's a full no. this is not how they played it on the adore tour.
Gish08 10-13-2010, 02:00 AM Funny, I had always wondered if Billy would ever play it this way. Except I always imagined it quiet until a ferocious Chamberlin drumroll leads into a more explosive sound, and a slight uptick in the tempo. Imagine it at "to hold off... [drumroll] the reallll slaves".
Great song, amazing that Billy actually wrote this when you consider how lost he is these days...
Also, the new bassist looks so stupid. Kill the trend, Bill. It's beyond played out. She looks ridiculous. Cute chick, but for reals.
Astur 10-13-2010, 02:22 AM Also, what is with the added line at the end
I've already heard that added line, though not sure if the 98 arrangement or more modern ones. May have been on original studio version, as it was quickly fade out...
antiskum 10-13-2010, 07:54 AM i'm more concerned about what he's wearing. i'd actually prefer the nosferatu cloak.
also why the fuck is the karate kid behind him?
also this rendition sounds like some shitty classic rock pub band. i can picture this getting played right after the john mellencamp cover.
brendo_91 10-13-2010, 07:55 AM Also, what is with the added line at the end
Um, you've never heard him extend Stumbleine?
I used to have a version that went
"I'm down at the mall, hanging by the telephone... that's the end of the song, there's no more that's all" or something.
paranoid 10-13-2010, 08:41 AM isn't this how they played it on the adore tour
Yeah, but the Adore tour version didn't sound so fucking bar band.
samuel redman 10-13-2010, 09:46 AM mike byrne really really bothers me, maybe more than he should
vbshlofbvgos 10-13-2010, 10:45 AM no thats probably about right
jczeroman 10-13-2010, 10:59 AM My version of this song is better.
Slurpee 10-13-2010, 11:26 AM God the drumming is awful. Listen to whatever abortion takes place during "Mama's in the manger with the little kids." Holy shit.
Can't wait til he gives Jupiter's Lament this treatment.
Eulogy 10-13-2010, 11:45 AM i liked that. his vocals sound pretty decent too.
Astur 10-13-2010, 11:53 AM Instead of this average shit he could play electric Soot and Stars again
Ball Sack Face 10-13-2010, 12:13 PM It actually sounds kinda fun you crackers, and I hate TGBK as much as any of you.
ilikeplanets 10-13-2010, 12:14 PM It actually sounds kinda fun you crackers, and I hate TGBK as much as any of you.
Try again.

the fill at 2:04 is an even bigger abortion.
soniclovenoize 10-13-2010, 12:55 PM Crappleine
Caine Walker 10-13-2010, 12:58 PM It actually sounds kinda fun you crackers, and I hate TGBK as much as any of you.
this has nothing to do with teargarden.
Spira|_ 10-13-2010, 01:04 PM This song is fabulous ... although I prefer the original. This song has a strong vibe and it worked coz of that, and that vibe is kinda lost in this version.
jimmy drevpile 10-13-2010, 02:13 PM yuck
Gish08 10-13-2010, 03:29 PM the fill at 2:04 is an even bigger abortion.
The whole band is an abortion now
Rider 10-13-2010, 03:55 PM Do you think Billy forces all his female Bass player do that that little bend your knees, rock your shoulders and swing back and forth dance when they play? This is the second female bass player that has done that that.
vbshlofbvgos 10-13-2010, 06:34 PM i don't think he forces them to do it i think she's just trying to fit in. maybe in time she will develop more of an identity.
aomb1979 10-13-2010, 06:48 PM Do you think Billy forces all his female Bass player do that that little bend your knees, rock your shoulders and swing back and forth dance when they play? This is the second female bass player that has done that that.
No because he has played with 4.
She's just trying too hard
samuel redman 10-13-2010, 06:50 PM No because he has played with 4.
She's just trying too hard
you forgot paco
jammin 10-13-2010, 07:44 PM i could imagine this song rocking, but that was not it.
Crappleine
pretty much, yeah.
aomb1979 10-13-2010, 08:03 PM you forgot paco
Don't get what you're talking about
slunken 10-13-2010, 09:34 PM looooool
applepwnz 10-13-2010, 10:10 PM I think it's pretty good, an interesting remix of one of the most underrated tracks on MCIS
slunken 10-13-2010, 11:14 PM that is in no way an interesting remix. i'm sorry. if this were the original song then what we know as the original would be an interesting remix.
Spira|_ 10-14-2010, 05:42 AM What is wrong with she? she is ok.
And btw she is HOTTER than Melissa and D'Arcy together on their wedding day gears.
duovamp 10-14-2010, 06:21 AM Yeah, the new bass chick is pretty easy on the eyes.
But anyway, you guys are miserable bastards. This is a stone groove.
muzzled4life 10-14-2010, 11:12 AM I'm happy to hear this song.
Rocket Launcher 10-16-2010, 03:18 AM I hated all the live versions ever since the adore tour..bill should never have tampered with this, for me the song is made for playing it in acoustic only. I love playing it myself on my guitar. It's a brilliant song/take on the album
