Ball Sack Face 10-02-2010, 09:57 PM A fan got to interview Billy on the street. His reaction is typical Billy.

Catherine Wheel 10-02-2010, 10:57 PM I laughed so hard at that
AveryLoren 10-02-2010, 11:19 PM That fan brought up many valid points and concerns I as a fan have been feeling to me corgan could easily be a fucking great artist again if he changed this shit.
stumpycat 10-03-2010, 12:26 AM Hehe and amen!
Strangely, I now somehow feel as though my voice has been amplified. It's like a succinct amalgamation of everything we've been legitimately critiquing but without the smarmy ass commentary in between.
ToTheAtom 10-03-2010, 01:25 AM That's a fantastic video. How can we make sure he watches it?
Caine Walker 10-03-2010, 02:30 AM spot on
Monet LSD 10-03-2010, 02:56 AM A+++
Ihaguitar 10-03-2010, 06:31 AM lol good one.
lucid_interval 10-03-2010, 06:36 AM Lol would have been funnier if Billy sent Gio over to kick the crap out of the fan, I think he showed remarkable restraint there
Ihaguitar 10-03-2010, 06:38 AM Isnt Billy stuck in the past? He's always on about old 60s & 70s stuff that he's been listening to.
TheDeuce 10-03-2010, 06:39 AM perfect
Caine Walker 10-03-2010, 09:11 AM Isnt Billy stuck in the past? He's always on about old 60s & 70s stuff that he's been listening to.
there is a gigantic difference here.
Corganist 10-03-2010, 11:19 AM I think "Billy's" response was appropriate.
Ihaguitar 10-03-2010, 11:38 AM I think "Billy's" response was appropriate.
Well there's a surprise.
ilikeplanets 10-03-2010, 01:22 PM That was great!
Ball Sack Face 10-04-2010, 11:42 AM thanks cracker jacks, tell your friends. somebody tweet it to billy. i don't know how to tweet because i'm old and crusty
applepwnz 10-04-2010, 02:50 PM Finally got around to watching this, that was completely rad! Especially the ultra-realistic Billy response to the whole thing
ilikeplanets 10-04-2010, 05:18 PM I think "Billy's" response was appropriate.
I'm sure you do, you mindless parrot. But I will tell you the reason why I don't. BC has said several times that making good music/being creative is his JOB. Therefore, the fans are his boss. When the boss complains that your work is sub-par and (mostly) gently encourages improvement, "Fuck You!" is not an appropriate response at all.

Seems reasonable

Therefore, the fans are his boss. When the boss complains that your work is sub-par and (mostly) gently encourages improvement, "Fuck You!" is not an appropriate response at all.
But we're not his boss. We're just customers. If you walk into a kitchen of a restaurant and proceed to tell the chef that you don't like his food and then start rattling off all the menu changes he should make to satisfy your palate, then "Fuck you" is a perfectly legitimate response. It may not be the best way to run a business, but it is what it is.
Catherine Wheel 10-04-2010, 05:55 PM Yeah I hate to agree with this guy but I'd have to say customers is a better analogy for what fans are in this situation.

you have a really fucked up view of the world if you actually believe this.
ilikeplanets 10-04-2010, 06:04 PM Boss, customer, whatever. Either way people other than yourself are needed in the equation. If customers keep getting crappy service...they will disappear. Corganist, do you really think it's ok for BC to treat everyone that is a fan with such harshness? Even those who want happiness for HIM and for the listeners? Why is it ok to say that the fans are worthless when many fans still love him and yet claim that every living soul is of value, especially those who he wants to touch through his music? Idk man...(I'm not fucking trolling, I'm just interested)
ilikeplanets 10-04-2010, 06:04 PM you have a really fucked up view of the world if you actually believe this.
die
Caine Walker 10-04-2010, 06:11 PM Boss, customer, whatever. Either way people other than yourself are needed in the equation.
how do you not understand the incredible difference between these two interactions?
Caine Walker 10-04-2010, 06:12 PM oh, wait. you're probably all fucked up on pills and beer.
sorry. my mistake.
Ball Sack Face 10-04-2010, 10:42 PM oh, wait. you're probably all fucked up on pills and beer.
sorry. my mistake.
beer owns. don't hate.
ilikeplanets 10-04-2010, 11:46 PM Caine I understand, I've been both!...but the difference isn't what's important here..if you anger either a boss or a customer to a point, you're gone. Like on pills and beer. So my actual meaning is how is it decent moral behavior for a nu-Jesus guy like BC to absolutely hate and discount the opinions of the necessary people (the fans)?
soniclovenoize 10-05-2010, 06:51 AM Just fucking don't buy his records then.
Caine Walker 10-05-2010, 08:51 AM how is it decent moral behavior for a nu-Jesus guy like BC to absolutely hate and discount the opinions of the necessary people (the fans)?
i'd say he's pleasing enough "necessary people" to keep himself funded for tours and the upkeep of his studio. there is no morality involved here.
ilikeplanets 10-05-2010, 11:25 AM Just fucking don't buy his records then.
TBK is free and the other records are good :)
That video just made my day. Someone really should get that over to Billy. Thumbs up!
Ihaguitar 10-05-2010, 12:35 PM Can someone post it on the o-board? I want to see how many seconds it lasts.
Ball Sack Face 10-06-2010, 03:19 PM Can someone post it on the o-board? I want to see how many seconds it lasts.
hell yeah. somebody do this because they won't let me post over there.
redbreegull 10-06-2010, 07:33 PM ten thumbs up
Ball Sack Face 01-26-2011, 01:27 PM this interview could be modified now that TGBK is dead and with the knowledge of the facebook drama
slunken 01-26-2011, 02:58 PM This bump maddens me.
Trotskilicious 01-26-2011, 02:59 PM so TGBK is officially doa?
slunken 01-26-2011, 03:01 PM In this interview http://www.roxwel.com/player/smashingpumpkinsinterview.html I love how Billy brags that his band would not have been as successful as they were if they had paid attention to internet culture.
It's a bit rich considering that the internet was still a relatively new concept when his band broke up.
Caine Walker 01-26-2011, 03:02 PM isn't he taking a break or something?
slunken 01-26-2011, 03:03 PM He's doing that thing again where he scraps all the old ideas and tries to start fresh.
samuel redman 01-26-2011, 03:03 PM thought he was working on some music videos for a new batch of songs?
slunken 01-26-2011, 03:04 PM But TBK is still the project.
samuel redman 01-26-2011, 03:04 PM yep
slunken 01-26-2011, 03:06 PM sorry i meant for that post to come right after my previous one.
i know they're accepting submissions for videographers (is that what they're called) but as far as actual work i dunno.

So the Gish->SD->MCIS popularity climax was due to the interwebs, eh?
LOL!
It's a bit like the "Al Gore claims to have invented the internet" meme...only when these sort of statements involve Billy Corgan, it turns out that they actually did emanate from his mouth at some point!
The truth is like the reverse. SP inspired a lot of internet fan culture that revolved around their music, which turned into its own sort of animal.
stumpycat 01-26-2011, 10:52 PM i know they're accepting submissions for videographers (is that what they're called) but as far as actual work i dunno.
^
"Cheap-ass" posing as "increased fan involvement."
slunken 01-27-2011, 12:44 AM Basically. Also "half-ass" would work too.
